Dang! I thought the United States were a lot smaller… hm

lol

True story: A few years ago I was temporarily working with someone who had come over from the UK. When the job was done, he said he was renting a car and seeing some of the US with his family.

I asked him where he was going. He said: "Well, we thought we would drive out, see Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone Park, and the Grand Canyon. Then drive to California and see San Francisco and Los Angeles. Then drive to Florida and spend a day or two in Disney World. Then drive back to New York and fly home."

Me: "Sounds like fun. How long do you have for the trip."

Him: "Seven days." doh!

Awesome.

It took me about ten days just to "visit" Los Angeles, have a walk in Burbank and see the former Disney Studios site, and visit Jack Kirby in Thousand Oaks (and it was about 40 minutes by car only to get there).

I realized after five minutes I was in California that I had to multiply my usual distances at least by four. I wonder what happens when a US citizen comes to a medium to small city in Italy… lol

Thanks my friend! (thumbs u

I think I will have an "immersive reading experience" when I am more or less done with my GA purchases, which means in short.

I have advanced in my wartime research for the italian publications as well: now I just need to clean up and make space in my house to access the journals and comics to read them at ease… :tonofbricks:

BTW, I also got this lowgrade Foxhole #2 – not during the war, but enough authentic to count as such… and the Kirby short story "Hot Box" (two pages) is just awesome.

I have that book...but some guy named Kirby wrote his name on the cover in 1974... :roflmao:

Oh yeah, and the U.S. is 3,000 miles across...major distance...

Here's the newest (and oldest) book in my collection. I first saw this cover when october posted his beautiful copy last year and just had to get one. :headbang:

Congrats on a wonderful book Damian. It's funny how small the world of GA comics can be. I used to own that very copy over a decade ago. I bought it from Shinders for the princely sum of $50. My how times and prices have changed!

Super nice pick up. I was watching it on ebay, and thought it was a really reasonable price. Always like to see this book pop up on the boards, I am a little obsessed with it...

Just got this in the mail today. $150 from a nice guy on eBay. He discounted it from $175. He said he found it at the bottom of a box of Sports Illustrateds that were at the local dump...I'd call it a solid VG+ to VG/F.

Great pick up!

No, it was an auction listing that had a starting bid of $175...I was the only bidder and sent him a note with my ph# and he called me. I told him I collected war covers and would like to have the book. I asked if anyone else had bid and he said no. Then he voluntarily lowered the price...Amazing...there are still some good people out there. Free shipping too!

I think the reason nobody bid was because he put all the corner pics first, and the full cover pic was last on the 2nd row of pics. I looked at the pics quickly and never saw the bottom row. I e-mailed him and asked if he had a full cover pic, and he pointed out the 2nd row of pics. I felt dumb, but so did he for not putting the full cover pic first in the line...

Well, what’s awesome about you US collectors is that you can easily phone to dealers or sellers – I could but my phone conversation english would not be so great, and I don’t know how it could work… :(

Do these Superman war covers reflect the content in some way?

I have been interested in war content since I restarted collecting comic books, but never bought a DC or a Timely so far and know little of the insides…
