Theagenes
In the early 70's I was collecting every underground comix I could find. Here are the first and second printing of Robert Crumb's Zap Comix #1. Very cool!
BB-Gun
In the early 70's I was collecting every underground comix I could find. Here are the first and second printing of Robert Crumb's Zap Comix #1. Very cool! I think my copy is the third edition. They went back to the original colors on the cover. One of my roommates painted the entire wall of one of the bedrooms with a very good Mr. Natural image. It was a birthday present for Graham in 1972. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo. Graham now lives in Iowa and teaches TM. bb
BB-Gun
I couldn't resist posting a Briefer animation. bb like most comic fans, I wonder what happened to Uncle Scrooge's savings during the latest financial crisis. bb Great work, BB. I love the animations. Thanks BZ. I use the easy method, unlike Flee who is the master. I make several photoshop copies of my idea and then load them up at Gickr.com They finish the GIF and I make a copy for posting. I was thinking of everyone's IRA (and the national debt) when I made the one above. bb
EggsAckley
In the early 70's I was collecting every underground comix I could find. Here are the first and second printing of Robert Crumb's Zap Comix #1. The story circulating around the underground forums is that Crumb wanted the background colors to be more orange so when Donahue took over it happened. The first & second prints were hand assembled. However, with the 3rd edition, normal printing techniques took over & the colors ended up back on the yellow side which supposedly did not make Crumb happy. BangZoom
BB, I enjoyed "In the Land of Forgot" that appears in Bozo #5. Is that a series that appears in other issues? selegue
What a great, surreal story! I like Bozo's expression, "What the dingdong?" I actually use it and had no idea where it came from. Was it a typical Bozo saying? Great crazy professor character too. Thanks, Jack BB, I enjoyed "In the Land of Forgot" story that appears in Bozo #5. Is that a series that appears in other issues? Perhaps Bozo likes a little more lip gloss. He does have an interesting bag of tricks that he picks up for some of the stories. He used a spray can to travel back and forth in Time. Cap Marvel had to visit a mountain and Sup had to travel relatively fast. Bozo did seem to be invulnerable to harm and didn't need air to breath (unless it was convenient for the plot). But they were good stories that didn't require blood and gore to attract the readers. bb
Scrooge
I was finally sitting down and going through my copy of The Comics # 4 and the strip that stands out the most inside is Alley Oop by V.T. Hamlin. Here are scans of 2 of the 4 pages dedicated to Alley Oop -
BB-Gun
There are a lot of great Hamlin strips. I enjoyed this page from issue 22, I think. It is the only issue of The Comics that I have so I should remember. Isn't he from Missouri? bb I also like all of the JR Williams cartoons in The Comics. Scans of all of the early issues are available at Goldenagecomics.UK
