He has a very recognizable style, doesn't he? The old guy standing on the cannon seems like a character I've seen many times with no idea who drew him. Starry Eyes looks like a huge influence on manga and modern "girlie books", unless Calpini also borrowed the style from another source.

I've been watching and enjoying a lot of Fleischer animation of late so it's wonderful to learn that some of their incredible artists were doing work for comics, too.
