Do We Need Cheesecake Photos in Signatures?

165 posts in this topic

I like to hit the boards a few times a day to get away from the grind of the office for a few minutes. It's becoming increasingly difficult to scan these threads because of the prevalence of (large) barely contained boob and butt cheek photos spreading through signatures like wildfire. All I need is for a co-worker or my boss to enter my office and it looks like I'm surfing somewhere I am not supposed to be.

I'm not a prude, but is these photos really necessary?

Yes, I know I can turn off signatures, but I do like to read peoples' want lists, websites, etc.

Mmmmmm... cheesecake!

At least they're mostly in sigs. One of my happiest days here was the day I learned how to turn 'em off. cloud9.gif If you still want to read them, why not keep them off during the day and turn them on at home? It doesn't take very long.

As much as it pains me, I have to agree. I have at least one coworker who I'm sure thinks I'm surfing porn whenever I'm on the boards. Not to mention my mother-in-law, who was sitting right behind me while I was on the boards the other night. A few of the more interesting sig lines had her curious what the heck I was looking at. foreheadslap.gif

Bigger problem...would be your mother in law sitting right behind you while you check the boards. The kind of proximity and positioning spells certain doom.

While I haven't gotten into any trouble, one co-worker did do a "double-take" as I was scrolling through the forums one day.

He said "you must like that girl you keep going to the same website". I was confused about what he was talking about, but he mentioned "you know, the girl named ARES". confused.gif

I realized that he had seen the signature of the esteemed Ares and must have thought the girl's name was ARES from a few glances. foreheadslap.gif

I then had to go searching for one of his posts and then show it to my co-worker and explain to him that there's this guy who likes this girl so much he puts her photo in his signature. gossip.gif

This then led to a tedious discussion of what is a signature 893blahblah.gif

Although in Ares defense his images are quite harmless

although they are a bit too lovely and I do hope my wife never notices. tonofbricks.gif

Actually, the correct answer to the issue at hand is Firefox, combined with Adblock.

Problem solved.

Sigs like these were banned a while back. Now the pendulum has swung back (way back in recent weeks). Personally, I've always left sigs on because I like to see them. But I'm considering turning them off now.

BTW - you can't adblock an image that is a board attachment without blocking all board attachment images!

I'm at work using IE so it's irrelevant, but how can you block one boards.collectors-society.com image and not all?
