A hardcover. Very nice. Maybe I can spark some interest in my kids for the early Valiant issues. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Nows my chance to read this stuff thumbsup2.gif

Actually, I'll be interested to see what people who have never read Harbinger have to say...

"an organization determined to identify and keep track of powered individuals"

"a blond who can control fire with her hands"

"a mysterious Japanese business man who is in power from behind the scenes"

"a young man named Peter with lots of abilities and powers who may be the key to everything"

Sounds like Heroes... except it's all from 1992. gossip.gif

You think "Heroes" got some ideas from somewhere? flowerred.gif

A couple days ago I went to a Comic shop and spent 1 1/2 hours looking through the .50 cent bin.

Some of the finds:

Harbinger #1 (with coupon) in NM-

Harbinger #2 (with coupon) in VF+

X-O Manowar #15 in NM

TroubleMakers #1 in NM

Solar Man of Atom #4 in NM-

Archer & Armstrong #0

at another shop I found a bagged set of BloodShot #1-4 for $2.95 in VF-NM range.

There still are plenty of deals out there...

Good finds!

Non-ultra high-grade (especially non-certified) VALIANTS are almost all available for cheap with perhaps a half dozen exceptions in V1. V3 can have some rather pricey relatively) Shadowman books even in raw. CGC seems to be the key as early Valiant has notorious chronic conditioning quirks that make a Harby#1 a few bucks or (apparently) $1000 in 9.8 recently.

From a pure reading-enjoyment standpoint - I'm not sure if their are better bargains to be had in sale bins than Pre-Unity VALIANT and its immediate aftermath.

There's a number of Valiants bringing high $ in 9.8 right now. It's not just Harby 1. Some of the VH3 Shadowman books are getting over $100 or more. But, with print runs under 10K for a nearly 10 year old book with a dark cover that is in demand, it's not uber surprising. ;)

What's VH3?

Acclaim's version of Valiant heroes, circa 1998-2000.

There was originally just the Valiant Universe. (1991-1996)

Then in 1997, Acclaim decided to re-introduce a lot of Valiant titles with all new (unrelated) stories.

They called their 1997 stuff "VH2", as in "Valiant Heroes 2"... with 1991-1996 being VH1.

(Which was stupid, because VH1 was already a music video channel at the time.)

Acclaim decided to end the VH2 line in 1997... and "relauch" again in 1998...

so collectors sometimes call the 1998 stuff "VH3".

The print runs on "VH3" were very low, because no one bought them,

so they've become somewhat expensive for collectors attempting

to get everything from Valiant and Acclaim.

(Some Valiant collectors avoid Acclaim altogether, so, to each his own.) :D

Did any of you see how much the VH3 Shadowman #2 variant brought in on ebay recently? I was watching and going to snap it up if no one threw any bids on it, but that plan went out the window. lol I already have a copy but you can never have too many, right?
