  1. Vinny, Tremendous interview with Jay. I mean just riveting stuff. The Brad Savage story was redunkulous... how did you end up not assaulting him? Just fascinating. I mean really and truly fascinating.
  2. He could have questioned it publicly and I would have had no problem with it. In fact, what's strange is that he chooses to single me out and I have refrained, even privately now that I think about it, from commenting on any of his books... yet I and others could do so especially since there are certainly questions that could be raised. Since the GL 76 in question sold in 5 minutes and others expressed a desire to buy it had it not sold, I'm not sure what the issue is. Either way, I'm not sure why divad has decided to raise the issue with me.
  3. On the issue of over or mis grading, I can only speak on a personal front... if I've made a mistake or overlooked something, I would prefer to have it pointed out to me and see no issue with someone telling me in the thread. I miss things, or people will point things out, and sometimes it is actually a good thing. If it becomes nitpicking, that's a different story, but if someone sees a real mistake in one of my threads, I invite you to point it out. I think that can only me overall. I feel I'm a pretty accurate grader, but nobody is perfect.
  4. I don't think there's anything wrong with this but it's not something I do and it's caused an annoyed forum member or two. Once I have my list of priced books and all the scans ready, then everything will go in the sales thread, no presales. I mainly do this to prevent all the good stuff getting taken beforehand, leaving nothing but mid-grade krap for the thread. Of course, this is only a problem for those of us who sell krap. Not sure Brian has this issue. Actually, from a strategic point of view, I totally understand what you are saying and I think it's a good point. For me, I normally will not sell $5 or $10 books -- though I have from time to time -- if I sell something that's "good" that I was planning to put in the auction, I try and pull something else that I might be willing to part with. I'll be honest: my line of thought is often times borne out of lazyness. If I only have to ship to 4 or 5 people as opposed to 10, the better for me. Frankly, with my work schedule, shipping often gets delayed, and sometimes as a surprise to me. I hate doing that to people. So if I can presell some stuff to a good customer I'm okay with that. But that's why I stopped "announcing" what I was going to sell in another thread or posting my sales thread before all scans were loaded. If I pre sell a book, it hasn't been announced yet generally. Also, there's probably a total of 10 guys here who have bought lots and lots of books from me, and I like to show some form of appreciation for their loyalty. If I have a high grade 100 pager, I like to sell to Greggy... etc. I've come across and continue to come across many books that I love to offer here -- as well as under copies or books I've owned for a time and now will move them on to others.
  5. I've stopped pre announcing my sales threads and have had the same amount of success with sales (sometimes almost 100% sell through) that I had before. This place has been fantastic to deal with people and I've been much more willing to cut deals than ever before. I receive PMs from people during the threads often with, do you have this book? or what else is coming, i'll buy it before you list it, and I am happy to sell it to people when they inquire. Pre sale sales are a reality of the comic book world it seems, and I will be honest, repeat customers and friends do get some preferential treatment in that regard.
  6. Blazing Bob. I take it you sold it to him? Yep... the Avengers 9 was a nice copy...
  7. Do you mind my asking where you got the Avengers 9 from... it looks very familiar...
  8. Would have loved to have met you sir... you've got some killer books! Hopefully you can make it to a dinner or just stop and say hello... did you get anything at the show?
  9. Yes. I figured the books on comiclink were from Dave so thanks, FK, for confirming. Note that someone probably bought them from him -- not sure that Dave consigned himself... they are significantly marked up from his price list that he showed me. I was pretty certain of that based on what I saw at the show. You picked up some very pretty copies. (thumbs u Wish I had a chance to catch up with you -- didn't know you were at the show!

  11. Actually, as I look at a number of those, they seem to have been purchased from kapelka. Glad whoever bought them left the Flash 123 for me... !
  12. pretty sure that Supes 144 CGC 9.2 was Kapelka's. Either he consigned it, or someone bought it from him and put it on Josh's site. There's allegedly about three superman collectors fighting for these books... Kapelka's original sticker I believe was $900 on that book.
  13. Now 3 out of 4. Nothing says you have to keep business disputes private. For shadroch: You don't always have to have a writing to have a contract. Make that 4 out of 5. Who's the holdout again? And you are 100% right on with the contract construction analysis. Chris You can make it 5 out of 6. Sometimes the best leverage is publicity. In this instance publication is the best move, though I will also agree with Shadroch that there are many instances where it's better to keep the dispute private. I just don't think this is one of them.
  14. Oh there goes that Hari showing off his unbelievable OA collection -- what's that address again? Very nice collection by the way.
  15. Greggy just bought mine -- which was the best one i had seen in years.
  16. VG/F looks closer to VG+ -- either way, great price, presents very well.
  17. the comic connect auction isn't all that bad on reserves... got this for $500 (a steal to me):
  18. Think most people have seen these, but just in case there are only people who visit the GA Forum...
  19. Please sell me all your 6.5s and 7.0s that look this nice:
  20. Some more pre code pick ups, probably a bit nicer than the last bunch:
  21. collect a bunch of stuff (some under the radar)... will scan in some more recent pickups tomorrow!
  22. New pre code horror pick ups, one owner, bought from a dealer who got them from an estate sale. Just stunning books with rich gloss and colors. Beautiful stuff. Would have bought more, but I actually got to the point where I was almost tapped out (from what I can reasonably spend)
