  1. Found a nice painting to go along with the book. Now I need another book.
  2. I don't think there will ever be a better effort. A sequel would be fun if it is in the contracts of the principals. However, I don't think it will happen unless there is more support by word of mouth. I enjoyed this movie more than The Avengers. I liked both but LR was more fun. Unfortunately, teenagers who control the market and parents who want family movies were not there. The big winner of the weekend, Despicable Me II, was a rehash of the same fart jokes from DM, which I enjoyed. People like what they find familiar and The Lone Ranger is a new twist on the old westerns. Perhaps the bad guys were too bad and the Lone Ranger wasn't super human but Tonto was a strong character that deserved to be the center of attention. The origin story with Butch Cavendish was the same but a little more graphic than a TV western from 1950. I enjoyed it. Give it a chance if you are tired of Marvel Superhero remakes.
  3. This looked like fun. Not my creation but thnks to whoever made it.
  4. I like all of those golden age small logo Detective comics. I liked the Martian Manhunter too but he belongs to the silver age.
  5. John Hart said in an interview that Tonto was happy to be working with either Ranger (himself or Clayton Moore) but Silver always liked him best.
  6. I had doubts when I saw the original photos of Johnny Depp and when I saw the Lone Ranger's black suit and when I saw the bird on Tonto's head but I was wrong. Everything worked. Better than the Pirates of the Caribbean...and I loved the horse, Silver, of course. and the Trains...
  7. and Donald occasionally would shoot off some roman candles for the 4th, with his nephews help of course.
  8. Good story BZ. Boy comics 17 had a flag waving cover with some fireworks.
  9. I am still missing several key Fantastic Four comics. I will probably pick up 4 and 5 but won't find 1 and 2 in my price range.
  10. Don't remember ever seeing these...and when did they go to 15 cents? mm Most of the Picture Stories series were priced at 15 cents for the Spring 1947 issues. Price was back to 10 cents by issue two.
  11. The first Spirit Section, I absolutely love it Frank (it's one of the few I'm missing from 1940). I had a chance to buy the complete run a few years ago but I only wanted that first issue. I purchased an Action 21 from the same guy.
  12. I like both but the interior Batman story makes issue 3 a favorite. I only have two copies of issue 3, with no covers.
  13. I love those pages. Caniff is described as the Rembrandt of comics but I think he's more like Dickens or Jules Verne. He could tell a pretty good story. Reprints in Popular were smaller versions of the Sunday Page but Harvey enlarged and rearranged the panels to fit a comic book format. Better for reading if you don't have the full size pages. 14. I think you mean the Crazy and Ideal comics in the front center of the photo below.
  15. Depends on determination and deep pockets. I have neither. I am thinking $5,000 or is that too low?
  16. There were a lot of different titles published by Atlas.
  17. Atlas published a lot of different westerns. I didn't post pictures of All Western Winners and Black Rider which weren't in the pile.
  18. I liked Red Ryder and had a Red Ryder BB-gun, of course. I read his strip in the newspaper for years. I really like his painted covers and the giant Sunday pages. Marty, Do you have a Daisy Handbook?
  19. I liked Red Ryder and had a Red Ryder BB-gun, of course. I read his strip in the newspaper for years. I really like his painted covers and the giant Sunday pages.
  20. I am a fan of Picture Stories from Science.
  21. They're still Barks. Yes they are. I have the entire story.
