  1. I found a few extra Jumbo comics for the group shot. Many of these have Baker art too.
  2. That one reminds me of the Steve Canyon cover. Did Caniff draw either one? I suspect they are a composite created from a stat of his drawing.
  3. I bought all of these off of the newsstand back in the sixties. They still look pretty fresh and clean.
  4. I am not sure that you can find crocodiles in Florida but I bet they would like a duck dinner, Huey, Dewey or Louie. The snouts seem a little wide for a crocodile...OK, never mind, it is Disney after all.
  5. I'm surprised that the utility belt story appeared in SS. There must be another one in Detective or Batman. I know I read a story about the belt in a Batman Annual and I don't think it was the same as this one. Checked it yesterday and saw another story titled Secret of Batman's Utility Belt was published in Detective 185. It was reprinted in a giant size issue in the sixties (Batman 203). The Star Spangled story was published in 1949 and the Detective comic was published in 1952.
  6. I kept looking though Schomburg's paintings to see if I could find this Radio Craft cover. Kind of like Where's Waldo but didn't find an exact match. Similar guys on the left though.
  7. I left out of the group shot, the Four Color 348, Crocodile Collector, and put in two copies of Christmas For Shacktown. One has a great story and the other a great cover, i.e., FC 348. Barks continued to do covers for the Duck comics but they weren't as good. The reprint series got me interested in Ducks again. Two of these are from my original collection.
  8. Hey, don't hide your light under a bushel. This is a fantastic achievement! Congratulations As is usual at the completion of one run, the ubiquitous query "what's next"? I changed the photos to celebrate a little more. As you should. Well Done!! They are great group shots, so tell me are there doubles or just a matter of "arrangement"? I have doubles of FC 178, 147, 422, 263, 408, 238, 275, 300, 308 and 367, I think.
  9. There is some glare on one of my favorites. Planet comics seem to arrive periodically. I love em when I can find em. In between times, I try to buy Planet Stories.
  10. This Star Spangled is on my want list... cause I want a copy of this story.

  12. Mickey Mouse strip from 1944 was reprinted in WDCS from 1947. To me, the story seems related to FC 9, Pirates Gold. If they wanted to make it a feature length cartoon, I am not sure Disney would have approved of a story entitled "Isle of Death".
  13. I think I am still missing #80 but I have the rest of volume 7 somewhere but probably missing a few covers.
  14. Thanks Marty, It only took 35 years. I still need lots of WDCS issues from volumes 1-4. Here's one I always liked having. mm It was a good year for ducks.
  15. Thanks Marty, It only took 35 years. I still need lots of WDCS issues from volumes 1-4. (snip) Here's one I always liked having. mm I like these FC 147 pages.

  18. I have 98 out of the first 100 issues of Spiderman. I might replace the first issue which is a reprint but I am not interested in completing 101-400. I try to collect a little bit of everything. I still need a lot of early WDCS but waiting for a bargain to come my way. I like them because of the covers but miss the stories by Barks.
  19. Found a few more of my favorite Boy Commandos Comics and added them to a few others for a group shot. One day these will all be back in the correct box with the others.
  20. Hey, don't hide your light under a bushel. This is a fantastic achievement! Congratulations As is usual at the completion of one run, the ubiquitous query "what's next"? Two issues short of completing my Spiderman run and 6 or 7 issues still needed to compete the Challengers run. I wanted to complete a run of All-Star comics but got too distracted by All-American, All-Flash, Flash, Green Lantern, Leading, More Fun and Sensation. I will never complete the Superman run but still have hope that the last few issues of Batman will turn up somewhere. I have a few shabby issues of Worlds Finest but still hope to complete the run. Most of those are realistic goals. Try to collect a complete run of USA or Mystic. Hard to find and not cheap. I will probably focus on adding a few more superhero comics to my collection and as much SciFi as possible. Good luck to the rest of you guys too.
  21. Awesome books! The 6 is one of my all time favorites and you just can't beat those Claw covers, all classics! The Claw is a bit more scary than some of the villains in the GA Superman stories. These guys were seemed more mischievous than truly evil. Yep, not much evil there I still like the 57 though. That was one of the first GA books I had as a kid(paid about 14 bucks for it). I like all three. The stories were more of a battle of wits than anything else. The Claw was just violent. He liked to squish traitors between his fingers. I think the Prankster shot a few friends in one of his stories but I may be hallucinating.
  22. Too big to fit on the scanner...but I tried.
  23. I have seen big variations in the color of Fiction House comics but never noticed a big difference in St. John's publications until I compared these two copies of Tor 3. Which do you like better?
