  1. Just posted these in the Duck thread but so happy to finally get them, I have to post again. Please excuse. I may post them a third time as a group shot.
  2. All of these are really special too. I read the reprints a long time ago. I am especially fond of the early WDCS issues with Barks' stories. Finally finished the Four Color collection of Duck Stories by Barks, by the way.
  3. The Magic Hourglass is probably my favorite story and the first one that I remember reading. We also had a copy of US 5 which has the Atlantis story and that is probably my second favorite. I read the reprint of "The Old Castle's Secret" and got interested in collecting Ducks again. All of the Scrooge stories that I had missed, which was most of the first ten issues, were fun. I probably paid more for Four Color 199 and 223. I got both from trades. I think I gave the dealers my car and first born child. Here he is in a picture of FC 199. Dealer gave him back because he was so much trouble.
  4. Awesome books! The 6 is one of my all time favorites and you just can't beat those Claw covers, all classics! The Claw is a bit more scary than some of the villains in the GA Superman stories. These guys seemed more mischievous than truly evil.
  5. Doc Savage doesn't seem as dynamic as Kubert's Tor cover.
  6. I enjoy reading those old Tor issues but didn't notice this editorial before. I know I am rediscovering the wheel here but it is worth showing again.
  7. This one probably got lost in the stacks. Thanks to the GCD.
  8. Finding these must be like pulling hens teeth.
  9. I like those Black Fury pages. I have a reprint book with some of those strips< I think. I also picked up a comic.
  10. I have never found a Little Nemo at the flea market. Nice.
  11. Did you listen to the Let's Pretend radio show. I picked this one up after BZ listed it as part of his collection.
  12. The colors seem a little brighter on some of those early Lone Ranger comics but I like the Four Color issues too.
  13. Fran Striker wrote most of the early stories. Photo from: [font:Book Antiqua]The Lone Ranger: Justice from Outside the Law by Robert Siegel [/font]
  14. That is a popular Green Hornet cover. I like some of the early Lone Ranger covers a little better. I used to listen to the Lone Ranger on KMOX St. Louis and occasionally WXYZ Detroit (rebroadcast), I think. However, The Shadow is still my favorite old time radio program. I heard the crossover Batman radio program while driving to New York on a Sunday evening. Didn't catch the ending, unfortunately. Anyone know the date of the original Superman radio program? I might be able to find it in my radio program files. The first Superman radio program was fun to listen to.
  15. Everett contributed covers to a couple of Sunday comic characters that made it to the smaller format. Schomburg did covers for Oop and Easy.
  16. quote=BB-Gun]I like the tabloid size Spirit mags and Superman tabloid size Sunday pages. I am especially fond of the giant robot story that was featured on the cover of Action 36 but can only be found in the funny pages.
  17. Segar was featured in Click (1939).
  18. an article on Capp was featured in Look...
  19. McManus was featured on the cover of Coillier's.
  20. from a Standard publication I think...
  21. I think I still have one of those in the EC box. I have never listened to the show on the radio but I used to watch it on TV.
