  1. I like those Charlton covers but Timely had some really special covers too. I believe the guys in the background are robot assistants who are very helpful in a torture laboratory/chamber.
  2. Nice book...REAL FACT seemed to have quite a few yellow covers. mm
  3. I like robots...these go with All Star 43.
  4. Those bots look like they have .... riders Image robots or holograms are projected in front of the riders.
  5. I like posting these early Schomburg items whenever I get a chance. Coloring book is filled with drawings by Alex and the Experimenter is his first cover (in case you didn't know). I found a copy of the Weekender with my Spaceman annual. Spaceman isn't really golden age but it looks a lot like an early cover by Wood.
  6. I like the Action 36 a lot but this Magnus cover has always impressed me.
  7. Looney Tunes stories had crossovers between strips like this Mary Jane and Bugs Bunny story.
  8. This could be a lot better with a little work (most are in pretty shabby condition). I am a big fan of the golden age Flash but he has always taken 3rd or 4th place behind Batman, Superman and Green Lantern.
  9. Ah yes,one of the benefits of your workplace/library. Here's another of my favorites.Check out Baron Gestapo! ` I really like those Montana covers. Did he continue do draw superheroes after he started working on Archie (and went off to WWII).
  10. I'm in. I think someone found my copy being used as insulation in a wall. But I'm happy to have it.
  11. I guess I was infected with the All-Star bug too. The Solomon Grundy cover is my favorite.
  12. The ones listed in the Overstreet as containing "extreme violence" do have some fairly graphic panels of soldiers being blown up or riddled with bullets, and are more violent than most Atlas war stories, but are pretty tame compared to some of the pre-code crime and horror books noted for their gore and graphic imagery. They are certainly less violent than some of the more graphic modern books, but they are chock full of R.Q. Sale art, which makes them worth picking up. Here are a few examples.
  13. There may not have been a better golden age splash than "Arrows of Doom".
  14. I love those early Seuss strips and Flash Gordon is always good to see. I have a few reprint books but I particularly like the Nostalgia press volume that I have due to the extra large panels and end plate constructed from Raymond's art.
  15. I agree with your choice. I have bid on Tec 108 many times and still don't have one. Did you buy it?
  16. Saw this in Comic Plus and thought it was appropriate for today.
  17. August did similar work for books and magazines. Alex was better with human characters and August drew detailed planes for mags like Flying Aces. I changed the photo in this one to show a couple of his Flying Aces covers. He drew this cover concerning spread of poisonous gas. I don't think that was used in Europe during WWII but was used in China. He also illustrated this cover which relates to an article dated 1938 about the Japanese invasion of Hawaii.
  18. yep. the american crocodile. florida keys and the everglades mostly. strange, i know, because of all the alligators we have in that area. I checked an on-line source and it said the ratio was 500:1. But you are right, there are some.
  19. Oops! I may have been bidding against you but gave up early.
  20. Jon if you use the Photobucket site it will allow your pics to be bigger and you won't have to shrink them. Twister, I'm gonna try that route again bro. I use Flickr and it gives you a choice of sizes.
  21. I always use a larger image for group shots. Is that greedy? 6 images at 200KB takes more time to load than one image at 700KB.
  22. I don't know about the comics but I love those covers by Everett.
