  1. From Heritage, not mine, unfortunately...
  2. The Smithsonian Collection by Canaday is a good place to search for comic strips that you like.
  3. I don't know if Nedor had one or if they did, I didn't realize it but Standard did. I received the second volume of the collected Bringing up Father from IDW (?) yesterday. Wish I had more time to read ... Nedor publishing was a subset of Standard so I guess I was technically wrong but I tend to use those company names interchangeably (Nedor/Standard/Better). ACG gets a different designation due to the silver age connection. I'll have to read Vance's book again.. You can see the art deco influence in black and white while reading this early book of McManus cartoons.
  4. I like the tabloid size Spirit mags and Superman tabloid size Sunday pages.
  5. Dickk Tracy dailies got more attention than Superman when Bonnie was born.
  6. Mac Raboy did a great job on Flash. He was the artist working on the strip when I was young. I didn't know about Raymond until many years later.
  7. Although this one is from 1945, some newspapers continued to publish full page Prince Valiant comics in the sixties. Foster was amazing.
  8. I think there were several Nedor issues, four colors and platinum series starring Jiggs and Maggie.
  9. Batman was a little more graphic than usual in this Sunday page with a hanging man.
  10. My father-in-law saved this one for me.
  11. Jerry Siegel may have thought about this 1931 strip when he created Superman.
  12. That one is really nice. Ming was the most famous villain in comics, I think. (After Black Pete, maybe)
  13. Group shot for the Pennsylvania Party tomorrow. We won't be doing the polka but just enjoying some old comics, I hope.
  14. I have a few but I tend to buy Prize instead because of the Black Owl. However, I did make this gif.
  15. Does it have this nifty story from Hangman 8? What about the Hangman Puzzle? scans from Comic plus
  16. Great stuff. Thanks for posting them. Star comics published Gasoline Alley reprints with LB Cole covers.
  17. BZ used to sing praises for Roy Crane's work on Capt. Easy. and Schomburg added some nice covers.
  18. Those Gasoline Alley Sunday pages are some of my favorites. I was a fan in the sixties and seventies but discovered it was even better in the thirties and forties.
  19. Nice work by George Storm but Hangman got even better when Fuje took over. I think the first scan is from my copy and the second is from Comics Plus.
  20. Mickey was fighting for the allies in the WWII dailies.
  21. I like giant robots and little race cars.
  22. Superman Sunday pages are especially nice. I have this page in two different formats.
