  1. Now that is an awesome combination right there Marty!! I lived about 15 - 20 minutes east of downtown West Chester in Newtown Square for a few years. I don't think DeHaven's was still around. Bruce or Todd may know though as they are still in the area As another former native and currently working in West Chester I thought I could check out the location. I was looking for a time machine like Marty has and was hoping I could find a chocolate malt and racks filled with golden age comics. "I think it is now the Greene Street Consignment Shop at 106 Gay Street. All drug stores have been replaced by CVS."
  2. ..... oh, how I loved the 12 issue Kirby run....... it's a tough choice for me, but it may have been the run that I had the most fun tracking down..... and this was mostly pre internet, they were TOUGH. Naturally, my FF run is the favorite.... but even in the early 70's with minimal options, the SA Marvels were all do-able if you had the cash. The late 50's 10 cent D.C.'s were another story. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) Half of these are reprints but I still like to see the FF issues together. I lost interest in the FF at around 100 but enjoyed Byrne's brief time drawing their adventures.
  3. Those planes didn't appear in the story until Top-Notch 6
  4. Another Christmas story that I missed last week. It's from Comic Cavalcade 9.
  5. Late addition for Christmas but only recently found this one while looking for my lost Superboy 100.
  6. I still have a lot of Batman comics from my original collection but missing annuals 3 and 6.
  7. I've been a fan of the Challengers since Showcase 11. More than half of my Challengers are from my original collection purchased in the sixties. The Showcase 11 is still in one of the boxes but it was the one I kept instead of Showcase 4. Both belonged to a cousin back in the fifties.
  8. Mixed group shots...anyone else?
  9. Those Mickey Mouse Sunday pages were so popular Dell asked someone to create a regular strip just for comics. Barks chose Donald for his adventure strips.
  10. I think I have a few Krazy Kat reprints from comics and the Smithsonian collection.
  11. I agree. There are some undervalued WW II covers in that run, including this one by Jerry Robinson. I thought Al Gabriele did the covers for GH 26 and 27. Robinson drew the interior GH story. He actually signed the bottom of GH 27 but it was cut off of Marty's copy. I used to think the cover of 26 was by Schomburg until I looked it up on GCD, which credits Robinson: GCD link. I think the GCD is wrong.

  13. The editors liked the cover enough to put it on the mini-edition.
  14. Ask and ye shall receive. I've only got a few. Wish I had more. Prize 65 reminds me of 32 due to the perspective. I like all of these plus Prize 7.
  15. Not really golden age but I get a chuckle out of the Schomburg cover used for this Ron Goulart story.
  16. A Christmas for Shacktown was one of my favorite stories.
  17. I love the early Funnies cover. I found three Christmas books in my Lone Ranger box. They are from three separate companies and the Superman isn't quite golden age but, heck, I don't care. I like that imaginary cover and purchased two separate copies, almost 50 years apart.
  18. I restored the corner of my MM 38 with digital magic and then saw someone selling a similar copy on ebay. What was on the back cover which is missing from my copy too?
  19. Andy Gump, Betty, Smitty, Moon Mullins, Kayo, Sandy, Annie, Tracy
