  1. Before DC brought back its superguys and Marvel rehashed the Timely clan, Abner was at the top of heap. Fosdick had his sideline pushing hair cream too.
  2. It's my pleasure. I'm happy to see another Bugs Bunny fan here on the Boards. Do you have any 1940's Bugs Bunny coloring books? If it isn't too much trouble for you, I'd love to see a pic of any you might have. I think I saw that Bugs Bunny coloring book for sale at the flea market today. Is your wife selling your collection without telling you? I purchased these after seeing pages from one of BZ's Bugs books.
  3. Very pleased with the new cover for Batman 47. Interior and exterior complete.
  4. Those are always fun to see and the Feature Books too. The paper seems to be better quality on those books (Are your copies off white?) or did several collectors take good care of their Popeye books.
  5. If we are going to post Platinum Age then I'll post my recently acquired Barney goggle, er...Google (pronounced the same but spelled differently). By Billy DeBeck
  6. I think these Feature Books pre-date June 1938 but the Large Feature (same size actually) do not.
  7. I like the early Ace comics but I especially like the later issues with Prince Valiant.
  8. I like the Magic issues but my copies all have Blondie on the cover. Wait a minute is that Blondie in a trance...?
  9. I think cap 33 had an interesting Human Torch story. and the splash on the right is from Cap 33 too, I think.
  10. I like those Mandrake covers and stories from Magic and Feature Book.
  11. That is the perfect opening line to a sales thread it is true I really need only mac's covers, but the run is so small, I figure i'll keep 'em. did the same thing with America's greatest, bulletman and minute man. then you also need (have) this one
  12. I remember owning several of these subs and playing with them in the sink or bath tub. We also had baking soda frogmen premiums but I didn't like them as much. Rockets were fun to own. There was more than one style if I remember correctly. and I remember playing with several of these airplane premiums. I don't have any of the above but do have some Lone Ranger premiums and a big bunch of Straight Arrow cards.
  13. Lots of great early Fawcett comics and the Captain Marvel Jr. covers are wonderful.
  14. I have a few of those and enjoy them very much. Doesn't someone have a few of the original art pages which were auctioned off by a university in Jersey? bb
  15. A few really nicely drafted images here. The Dauntless on #72 looks great and the posing is good. (Zero versus dauntless didn't usually end that way, but poetic license...) The Hurricanes on the early issue bottom right are really good (and maybe high enough to be able to pull out - not so the A-20 on #54, which is about to plow in). I missed the call on the P-40 even though I went back to google to check. Used a Flight number instead on the model number. I was only guessing with the Swordfish and dive bomber. Just thought it important to make the point that the US plane outgunned and was too well built to lose to a biplane (which reminded me of the stringbag-Swordfish.
  16. and a few more. I don't think I'll dig out the coverless issues but I might search for a few old posts.
  17. Middle issues seem to have more color. Later issues more babes. Perhaps the later issues were often used as wall books and saw more light causing fading. Planes were P-41, B-17 and Swordfish, which was an English plane from an aircraft carrier usually armed with torpedoes. Seems to be mislabelled but it is shooting at an American plane. I doubt that a Swordfish would last very long in a dogfight with a more heavily armoured Dauntless dive bomber.
  18. I like all three Everett covers. His Heroic covers are pretty good too.
  19. It just seems to get better as you climb the stairs and it started pretty high.
  20. You can have this one to play with. I created it from a Briefer Frankenstein splash.
