  1. I have a lot more of these which I purchased in the sixties at the local drug store. I think these three are wash covers by Kubert.
  2. Shelly did that a lot but he copied only the best.
  3. That explains what happened to the last Stuntman issue. I wonder if the stories for the planned Boy Heroes were transferred to Humphrey. Black Cat 1 made it to the news stand and many more issues. Boy Heroes never made it but one of the stories might have been in Humphrey. Stuntman 3 was published twice, the mailer and in Green Hornet. Strange Story?
  4. You mentioned you were looking for the last Stuntman issue. Harvey reduced the size of its inventory and Stuntman was reduced to small size mailers for subscription owners. It is rare but you might find it. What about the Boy Heroes? Was it publishe? It looks like a great cover. I think the Strange cover by Fuje appeared somewhere. Does anyone remember the story?
  5. The photo was published in Alan LIght's CBG wasn't it.
  6. Love those Spirit tabs! Those are all from the Philadelphia Bulletin Fun Book. I just have one example of the entire Fun Book. Here's a portion of the FUN BOOK Section from a couple months earlier...it also had a full page of MANDRAKE THE MAGICIAN and a full page of HOPALONG CASSIDY...who was very big on Philadelphia TV at that time. mm Most of my Spirit tabloids are complete Fun Books. The Spirit and Mandrake got top billing most of the time but I did find some Hoppy stories.

They were so popular that a TV series was created and broadcast from 1952 to 1954. I remember the TV show and I had to have all of the Hoppy western toys for Christmas (well at least the hat and cap pistols). Boyd was king of the merchandizing. A local antique shop has a Hopalong Cassidy bike for sale. It is in pretty good condition and painted black, of course.
  8. BEAUTIFUL!!! mm Thanks Marty. When Eisner's work was on display at the Jewish Art Museum in NYC, his tabloid pages were chosen to be part of the exhibit. Also found were paintings by Schomburg and pages by Robinson and Fine.
  9. These are all tabloid size and I store them with the Superman Sunday tabloids.
  10. Superman Sunday pages from Joe's hometown during WWII. It was probably Wayne Boring doing most of the art at that time wasn't it.
  11. I love that Halloween Spirit splash. It goes on my list.
  12. A couple of these are covers by Blaine and maybe all three.
  13. I own two Baker Flamingo strips. Do you have these two or did you find some more? I picked up the scan from the auction site, I think.
  14. More likely it's from another issue and I just lost track of which one as it was a couple of years back. Thought I saw a wormhole at the bottom of the pages which is why I may have drawn the wrong conclusion. Darn - now I'll have to figure out which issue those are from! Nice art isn't it? I really do like the art, the covers of the Planets are excellent. I seem to like the early issues into the 'teens and early 20's the best though. I love 14, and I am drawn to the black covers like 22 and 25. For reading I have started to pick up the Planet Comics collected works I have book 1 and 2 now. http://www.amazon.ca/Planet-Comics-Fiction-House-Collected/dp/1848634625 I like those Planet covers too.
  15. Those look like near mint copies. Do you think they will grade that high? Nice.

  17. In the beginning they tried subtle violence and overt . They decided to be overt and gruesome during the early part of the run. After a lot of flack, I imagine, the police became more effective and less blood was spilled, just a little broken glass.
  18. I added another Ditko cover to the pile but not happy about the condition. However, they are addictive. I might OD if I find a near mint copy.
