  1. I'd actually forgotten that that's the first appearance of Green Lantern. For some reason I'd gotten it in my head that Green Lantern #1 was where Alan debuted. Either way, great pick!
  2. Yeah, the wording's kind of wonky but I couldn't think of a clearer way to get the point across. More Fun 54 is certainly a solid choice!
  3. I'm not sure if the title's super clear, but I was wondering what everyone's grail book is that's NOT part of their primary collection. For example, my main focus is ASM Vol. 1 so my normal grails would be AF15 and ASM 1, but my NON-Spidey grail choice would be Fantastic Four #1. The Lee/Kirby stuff is absolutely masterful, and the historical significance is super appealing as a Silver Age and Marvel fan. Anyway, I thought it'd just be a fun conversational topic. Sound off below!
  4. Another mail day has come and gone. 429 down, 12 to go! Shout out to SoCal Comics in San Diego for this one.
  5. Lots of folks trying to complete their runs. But you're right, with the funds, you could 100% buy a complete run of ASM at any given time if you wanted to. It wouldn't be hard. AF15 may be a little tougher, but ASM for sure.
  6. If only they weren't all also at staggeringly high prices...
  7. I personally really like the new "Conserved" label they've added, and I think C+P could fit under there with no muss or fuss. I'm not very well-versed in the restoration side of collecting, but I'd argue C+P isn't restoration but it IS something, and I think the conservation label fits the bill nicely.
  8. Honestly that popped staple information already has me second guessing, lol. I do have some books with pretty severe spine roll, where if you look at it from the back cover there's like a full 0.75-1" worth of pages viewable, but I don't know. The price is probably more than I'd care to spend anyway. It's something I'd be willing to pay $5-10 for maybe, but since so many people are using C+P for investment purposes I imagine the prices reflect that.
  9. Also, if you know any folks who specialize in pressing out spine rolls, feel free to drop a link. I'd love to get an idea on pricing.
  10. Thanks! That's really helpful. Yeah, like I said my biggest thing is spine roll, and honestly, it's for my own comfort of readability. Obviously I'd need to gauge against cost, but heavily spine rolled comics make me nervous when I read them, and I like reading my old books lol.
  11. Hello, I'm just curious what the benefits to C+P are. I guess my biggest question is if one of the benefits is helping to fix spine roll. I feel like I've seen that mentioned as a reason to have it done before, but I couldn't remember, and figured I could ask you all. Thanks so much!
  12. Got these in today. 14 issues remaining! Big thanks to Harley Yee for answering all my questions and super fast shipping.
  13. Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! I appreciate it!
  14. Your average penciler is getting paid a couple hundred bucks per page TODAY, with some top-level talent cracking four figures per page. I don't think anyone out there is making five figures per page, much less seven.
  15. Just got my copy of ASM 102 in the mail and couldn't be happier. Very fair price, INCREDIBLY secure and fast shipping, super communicative. Would gladly buy from again!
  16. I've seen some listings recently on eBay and elsewhere where folks have been posting pics of their graded comics with some form of obstruction--usually a piece of tape--covering up the label where the barcode and verification # is. Personally, this strikes me as fairly shady, since I tend to use the verification # to both make sure the item is legit, and also ideally get graders notes if it's a lower-grade copy. I was just curious what other folks thought of this practice.
  17. I'm unsure. It's an online seller, so I haven't been able to hold the book in my hands. But what they've described is the inner case, the sealed Mylar sleeve or whatever it is, that's kind of sliding around a bit.
  18. Thanks so much for the response! I will admit, I'm a bit concerned, since it's a relatively high-dollar book (for me) at 9.8, and it'd be really crummy to get it re-holdered and find out it's down to a 9.6 or something. I suppose I'll need to think on it a bit.
  19. Hey all, this may be an odd question, but is it possible for a comic to be somewhat loose inside the actual CGC slab? Not literally loose, but for the comic in the inner sleeve to kind of jiggle around inside the slab? I was looking at a book and the seller let me know that it had this issue, and I'm trying to make sure if this is something that's maybe an uncommon but known issue, or if that's a significant red flag. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
  20. Thanks. This was super helpful. Definitely appreciate the response.
  21. ASM 1 (1.5-2.0), before I get permanently priced out of it. Hopefully I'm not too late. Maybe a few more ASMs if I can swing it, since I'm down to 17 issues remaining for a complete run. Maybe a ANMNPO #1 at 9.8.
  22. So I went to obtain grader notes the other day, but it told me I needed to have a paid membership. Two weeks ago, I was able to just pay $10 or something to obtain them. What's the deal?
  23. In fairness, I don't think they ever would've become multi-millionaires on their picking alone. And now that advice is further skewed by the fact they--well, Mike now--have cameras on them, so making a big purchase on a HTF item is good for ratings.
