  1. Is this book worth a clean and press or just enjoy it as a low grade raw? most issues on back cover. it has pink marker that has bled through. Some chipping along the bottom and a cup ring mark directly in the center.
  2. When I glanced at the thread title I read it as Daredevil 168 1.0 And thought to myself, "Who slabbed a 1.0 Daredevil 168?" lol.
  3. I am getting ready to crack my X-Men 94 for a re-sub. It will be my first one so I am a little apprehensive. I know there is a thread here somewhere that shows how to do it safely, that I will need to search out later.
  4. My brother and I had the one in the center and the one on the left. We played the heck out of those things. Still have both of them, but they are missing many parts. My son and my brothers children played with them as well. We keep them in my parents toy closet for when people bring kids over. At least they have gotten a lot of use.
  5. Those were some of the best sports controllers ever made. I remember spinning that wheel as hard as I could to make my player run faster. Loved that you could switch which player you were controlling simply by pressing the appropriate color button on the hand grip. (thumbs u Those controllers were years ahead of their time.
  6. Here is another great toy from my childhood. The Vertibird!!! At one time my brother and I each had one and set them up close together. This made for a great battle mode to see who could knock off the others propeller.
  7. I also spent many an hour with this electronic shooting gallery that shot steel ball bearings. It had single shot as well as machine gun rapid fire modes. Those were the days. I had that Tin Can Alley from above as well. Great game.
  8. I had that bad boy as well. That really brings back the memories. Forward 10, Right 2, Forward 7. I spend hours programming that thing. .
  9. Several weeks ago I posted this question in "Ask CGC" forum. It was something I have been thinking about since last year (got crappy gifts from some people). There hasn't been a response yet but I'm hopeful. The Ask CGC Forum is where good questions disappear into the abyss. I almost posted there, but most of my post to the Ask CGC section never see the light of day. I figured maybe they would listen if everybody started telling them they should offer gift certificates here in the Comics General section. They really have nothing to lose but more money.
  10. They just did a skit about that card on SNL last night. Pretty funny.
  11. I totally agree. Whenever I get a GC invariably it's at the place where item X I want is the most expensive. With cash or Vanilla MC that is never an issue. But only CGC grades CGC comics. There is no item X for a cheaper price. And if I get a vanilla MC or Visa I would probably not use it for graded comics like my gift giver intended.
  12. My brother told me that this year he wanted to get me a gift certificate for my comic grading hobby. He called CGC and spoke with Gemma. (She was very pleasant, as always.) Anyway, she tells him that they get many calls about this every year, but never have anything to offer. Why would any business pass up such a great revenue stream? It is nothing but free money now to the business and a certain percentage of people forget and never redeem them. It could only be good for CGC as I see it. Who here would like to see CGC start up a gift certificate program? I know I would. Chime in and maybe we could make this a reality someday.
  13. Too expensive. Don't display your comics near the sunlight. That will avoid all of the trouble. Oh yeah, those $2.99 sunglasses at Thrifty have full UV protection and it must cost a bundle to make those lenses... You really think those glasses have full UV protection for $2.99? I really don't think so. And, if they use that kind of protection from UV you wouldnt be able to see the comic book. Oddly enough "60 Minutes" just did a story on this a couple of months ago. You would be surprised how well most all of the cheap sunglasses did. Most fared just as well as the high priced ones.
