  1. Hello!

It does sound like it is because one book has a custom label. By adding the custom label you are adding another service to the submission. This means it would need to process separately from the other books causing it to be placed on a separate submission.

  2. Hello!

We work closely with our manufacturer to ensure that we receive only the highest quality holders, and we take great care to protect these holders during our grading process. The significant size and extreme clarity of these holders, however, makes it virtually impossible to prevent small scratches and scuffs that may occur during careful handling and in transit. As a result, minor scratches and scuffs that do not distract from the encapsulated book are considered to be acceptable.

  3. Hello!

We are aware of this issue and are currently working on a resolution. We hope to be able to correct this as quickly as possible. In the meantime, you may reach customer service at 877-662-6642. Thank you.

  4. Hello again, we are showing this order is currently at CCS for Pressing services. Once finalized with CCS and when it is transferred to the grading team, you will be able to track the submission on the submission tracking tool again. You may also enter invoice number 3977817 into the submission tracking search bar to locate the current status. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

  5. Hello!

We are aware that our online submission form is not providing the signing cards and we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. You may create your own signing cards to attach to the books if you need to get the submission in before the deadline. Please be sure they include the order number, artist name, and your name. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you.

  6. Hello! Once the submission goes into the Grading stage, our staff will ensure the correct book is listed. If for some reason the book is still incorrectly listed after it has been graded, please contact Customer Service at service@cgccomics.com to inform them. Thank you!

  7. Hello! When submitting a book that is not showing up on the drop-down options, you can select the I Can't Find My Comic section in red on the drop-down list. This will allow you to manually enter the information from your book.

  8. Hello!

As mentioned by Matt, the book originally came with an outside cover that included the UPC on it. Since this cover was not present on the book when it was submitted it will receive a coverless grade. Thank you.

  9. Hello again. Here is the response I received from our Graders. Please let us know if you have additional questions.

    1. Pedigree – original owner collection, high grade, contains significant books
    2. Provenance –collection from a person of significance (famous person-Nicolas Cage, creator-Harlan Ellison, or major comic collector-Jon Berk). Collections from famous people or creators may not necessarily be high grade or significant, but the person is. In the case of a major collector provenance, the books are not original owner, but are of significant grade/value.
    3. File Copy -  mostly applies to large warehouse finds from publishers, like Random House, Dell, Harvey and Poughkeepsie. Even though they are usually high grade and originate from one source, they are not considered pedigrees because they usually encompass large multiples of issues that are not that significant.

In the email he refers to the Harlan Ellison copies as “file copies” but they are not identified as such. I found an inquiry on the boards that he is probably referring to, and this appears to be a grader mistake. We should have labeled that book “From the collection of Harlan Ellison”.

  11. Hello,

Thank you for reaching out! We recently launched a new online submission form for signature series books and this has caused some bugs in the process. We are aware that the cards are not being printed and are working on resolving this issue now. We do appreciate your patience and understanding. If you do make your own card, the only information needed is the signing event name and the order number. Thank you.

  12. Hello!

This is an excellent question. Not all Pedigree books that come from industry names are considered File Copies.  A “File Copy” is not an alternate cover or some rare printing of a specific comic, but instead, a designation indicating that the comic you’re looking at was stored away in a filing cabinet rather than sent out to a newsstand and bought by a customer.

  13. Hello! It sounds like you have an interesting collectible on your hands. Unfortunately, we are currently not accepting and grading ticket stubs. This may be a service offered in the future and we encourage you to sign up for our newsletter for the most up-to-date information.

  14. Hello!

We understand your frustration! We do strive to provide the best service possible to our customers; however, human error does, at times, come into play. Once the book has been returned we will contact you directly via email on how to move forward. We do appreciate your patience and understanding.
