I wanted to follow-up on the question that I posted earlier this month and that is: I have a 1927 Babe Ruth card that was is issued from Charlie's Bar & Grill (93 Starr Street, Brooklyn NY} that offers the bearer of the card a free drink (offer expires October 12, 1927).  I have included a photo of the front and back of this item.  Can I get that card graded?  The dimensions of the card are 1.625 inches wide x 3.0 inches high.  I wanted to check if this a grade-able card before I sent it in.  I would appreciate any feedback that I can receive regarding this inquiry.  Thanx.

Per our graders: As long as the card checks out as authentic, we would grade this.

Are they going to use the CGC (vague at best) grading definitions or the CSG (specific but changes annually) ones? Also, CGC has subgrades, will cards that had CSG green subs get the subs back if I relabel to CGC?

Sub-grades will no longer be offered with CGC Cards. Any cards submitted with sub-grades will be reholdered without the sub-grades.

After reading the new announcement that everything is just going to be CGC, I attempted to start a submission for reholdering.  I heard it was $5 until September but when I started to do so, it says I must upgrade my membership in order to submit.  The announcement says there was no need for membership.

Starting mid-July (around July 11), all card submissions — TCGs, sports cards and non-sports cards — will be graded under CGC Cards, with the new grading scale and new label. At that time when CGC Cards officially launches, a paid membership will no longer be required to submit.

Until the mid-July start date, you would need to have a current CSG or CGC Trading Cards membership in order to submit your cards for reholder.

@CGCRyan Is the black/white CSG Perfect 10 label still available if I send in a green label perfect 10 for reholder in the next week or two?

Just make sure when you specify on your packing slip that you want the card to reholder in the black CSG Perfect 10 holder that you are very clear with the instructions. Make it as bold and precise as possible.

    Ryan, to clarify:

Green CSG to Black CSG relabel: $10

Black CSG to Black CGC relabel: $5

Blue CGC to Black CGC relabel: $5

Green CSG to Black CGC relabel: $5?

What is the CGC scale, anyway? Is it basically just swap out perfect with a lesser grade of pristine... which, BTW, CSG got rid of because it was deemed unnecessary and not market acceptable... 15 months ago.

I was told that all reholders are $5 right now (for cards valued under $10,000) and high value reholders are $15(for cards valued over $10,000).

    Grading Scale

    Pristine 10

    Gem Mint 10

    Mint+ 9.5

    Mint 9

    NM/Mint+ 8.5

    NM/Mint 8

    NM+ 7.5

    NM 7

    Ex/NM+ 6.5

    Ex/NM 6

    Excellent+ 5.5

    Excellent 5

    VG/Ex+ 4.5

    VG/Ex 4

    Very Good+ 3.5

    Very Good 3

    Good+ 2.5

    Good 2

    Fair 1.5

    Poor 1

Sorry for the delay. If you want to send in the green label CSG Perfect 10 to reholder it as a current black label CSG Perfect 10 you can. You would just need to write on your packing slip for the reholder that you are requesting the card be reholdered in the black CSG Perfect 10 label.

Packing slips created on or before July 10 will be eligible for the old labels as long as the package is received by Friday, July 21. If you create the submission after July 11 or your submission is received after July 21, your card would be reholdered in the new CGC Cards Pristine 10 gold label so just make sure you meet the deadlines above.

Will there still be half grades and if not if I send 9.5 Mint plus sports cards in to to get new CGC holder will they still be a 9.5 mint plus or will they be a 9 or a 10

In the new CGC Cards Gem Mint 10 grading scale there will be half grades all the way up from 1.5 to 9.5. If you have any CSG Mint+ 9.5 cards those will reholder as Mint+ 9.5 in the new CGC Cards label.

And just to be 100% on this,  I can, at this time,  send in stuff for relabeling with the new label,   correct ?

Man, now I gotta type in all those cert numbers one by one again..  I better get to the store for a case of frosty barley pops.  :)

Yes, you can now submit cards for reholder into the new CGC Cards label. The $5 reholder special is live on the Online Submission Form.

I have several cards that came back from grading and they were not added to the population report.  Can they be added please?  Numbers listed below:

    1401002526004 - Dominik Hasek

    1401002525001 - Richard Smehlik

    1401002526001 - Rasmus Dahlin

    1401002526003 - Jim Kelly

    1401002526002 - Owen Power

Your cards have been added to the CSG Population Report. I checked them all, but I don't see a differentiation made for the Owen Power Clear Cut, so I put in another ticket with our IT to have that corrected. I apologize for the issues and delay with this.

If an old green label CSG Pristine 10 was reholdered as a 2.0 CSG 10 (when Pristines were removed), are those still eligible for the new 3.0 CSG Pristine 10, now that the Pristine grades are back?

A CSG black label Gem Mint 10 can be sent back in to be reviewed for a CGC Cards Pristine 10, but that would be a standard grading fee not the reholder fee. A black label CSG Gem Mint 10 will reholder as a Gem Mint 10 in the new CGC Cards label.

Is the Perfect 10 designation being removed?

Are GM 10 cards eligible for pristine reconsideration?

Yes, the Perfect 10 grade is being eliminated in the new CGC Cards grading scale. All previously graded Perfect 10 cards will still reflect as Perfect 10 in our online tools including the registry, pop report and cert verification. If a Perfect 10 is sent in for reholder, it will be a Pristine 10 in the new CGC Cards label so we do not recommend sending those in for reholder.

A CSG black label Gem Mint 10 can be sent back in to be reviewed for a CGC Cards Pristine 10, but that would be a standard grading fee not the reholder fee.

With the change in the grading system, are cards that are currently in green label pristine 10 slabs eligible for reholdering to pristine in the newest labels or will the cards have to be regraded if sent for reholder?

Old green label CSG Pristine 10s as well as current CGC Trading Cards Pristine 10 blue labels will cross to Pristine 10s in the new gold CGC Cards label.

I was looking through the site and noticed that it seems only PSA and Beckett cards can be regarded. What about other companies or is it limited.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Currently only PSA, Beckett and SGC graded cards are eligible for our Crossover service and evaluated for CSG certification. All other graded cards from other grading companies would need to be cracked from their holders and submitted raw in a regular submission.
