Anybody pick up anything? I didn’t but had a fun time walking around. There wasn’t many dealers but artist alley had a wide selection of art. Mark Morales, Dave Petersen, and even saw some Ramona Frandon items.

Metropolis had a nice Colan Daredevil and saw Albert Moy with a incredible Romita Jr Daredevil. Quesada brought a few pieces but the covers were way out of my price range.

Talking to Jim Shooter was fun. Him telling the story of trying to ink a Kirby FF page with a watercolor brush was a highlight.

Think I know the Colan you are referencing, they had it at NYCC as well. Very nice action page

I've now heard from both the underbidder and the winner. I was actually informed about it by the underbidder...I wasn't watching and had no idea. Even to me, this was insane.

Treating it as an outlier and it won't affect our pricing of his art. Obviously, if this turns out to not be an outlier, then we will have to re-examine. But for now, maintaining status quo.

Felix did post on IG in reference to the pricing concern.

Wow! I've been waiting for DWJ's commision list to reopen for a minute. Super curious how this will effect the pricing, or if he'll even be doing standard commissions going forward.

Fan of DWJ as well and he was nice enough to do a quick sketch in my book at NYCC.

His 6x9's there were $300 a pop, he can pack the detail in there too.

This is an incredible result, there was a nice Weapon X of his that finished up for just over $300 yesterday too.

It's hurting him to even let it go at that price.

Itoya seems to stop at 18x24 inches with their portfolios. I'm looking at a piece slightly larger than that.  Any suggestions for storage? I guess above a certain size, a binder with pages makes less sense, but I don't have space for a huge art cabinet, especially one to hold pieces larger than 18x24.

It's not the cheapest thing but Baroque (Bottleneck Gallery) makes 24x36 for screenprints and also a larger one at 27x41

Comes with a zipper and strap too.

Vault Displays has a 24x36 but it's currently sold out.

I would imagine that we have all been there...blood rushing in excitement so hard it makes it difficult to hear and think coherently. Don't show excitement, don't leave and come back, just get out the wallet before you pass out.

Completely fine, though he should perhaps clarify to BC that this wasn't misrepresented and its a oopsy on him (If Albert did convey that properly)

That article makes it seems like it was a gotcha by some art bully.

Thanks Felix! That's some great background. I was shocked when I saw the images of it on Albert's wall at NYCC - I wouldn't expect such a prestigious piece to be sold any where other than auction.

I hope Cates knows what he bought and enjoys the heck out of it. It's definitely an incredibly well done recreation.

Was this promoted by Albert as anything besides a recreation?

Many of the others sketches he already sold seems to be forgeries IMHO, but I would be glad to hear what you think of them...

It's me, or many of them seems to have been done... with the same pen ?

Ran across one of the Hellboy's via a Dealer, who had previously sold a decent # of Mignola pieces but claimed they weren't able to pickup on it being a very likely fake. It was definitely marked up appropriately
