  1. While the mania has subsided, I think quality pieces will still be very strong. I would be very interested to see if this played out. There have been a few quality TWD pieces come up for auction recently and they have all done pretty well
  2. I actually had a few good dealings with them in the past... But I won't deal with them again just based off what I read on these boards. Buying from them now would be condoning their practices, IMO
  3. That is an excellent point. No easy solution though.
  4. Yes, that is a good example of what I was trying to say in my previous post. This page is far better than the one that sold on clink for $1300 in my opinion. Yet, there appears to be a ceiling on Preacher pages. It is tough to get past 2k on most of the pages.
  5. It looks like some of the more "common" or C quality pages have been rising in price but some of the better examples don't seem to command much more of a premium. So pages trade hands in a narrower range. A "C" page with Jesse will cost you $1000. An "A-" or "B+" page from the same issue might cost you $1600. Usually that kind of difference in quality has a much bigger difference in price. For Example, you can get a "C" page from Walking Dead for $500-750. However, if you want a "B+" to "A-" page, it might set you back about 2k.
  6. But it probably means that 100k is the floor... assuming the owner has seen the post.
  7. Didn't he just say he was interested in it "BIGLY"? I doubt "BIGLY" means "Less than I was prepared to offer 3 years ago"
  8. Interesting. I did not know that either. Pretty cool! Link http://www.comicartfans.com/comic-art-highlights.asp?PM=1&PI=54
  9. But some of us still want to see a pic...
  10. Just my opinion but... Even if you buy at a fair price, you are still enabling a thief and probable shiller. He has had some art that I was highly interested in but I won't bid after what was revealed in other threads. There is a lot of great art from reliable sellers. Why support people like make_mine_marvel_1973 or coolines?
  11. This one. Back then I had a mental block going over 10k... I still do. I only have bid over that amount twice and lost both times. This one hurts the most. Not Comic OA but somewhat related. There are Dragonlance comics, after all. https://fineart.ha.com/itm/illustration-art/larry-elmore-american-b1948-death-of-sturm-original-illustration-acrylic-on-board-19-x-19in-signed-lower-le/a/677-58170.s?ic4=OtherResults-SampleItem-071515
  12. Yeah. Two pages... It kinda got buried in my posts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Vertigo-PREACHER-52-Steve-Dillon-ORIGINAL-ART-Garth-Ennis-1-2-SPLASH-Page-PG/132112547272?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41669%26meid%3D9400f5e01f654dac90816e65890fd7f2%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D5%26sd%3D131987016928 http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Vertigo-PREACHER-52-Steve-Dillon-ORIGINAL-ART-Garth-Ennis-1999-Tulip-Amy-/131987016928?hash=item1ebb0a0ce0:g:ey0AAOSwImRYDCju
  13. You have TWO pages on eBay that were on clink. The post above specifically mentions one page. Did you get the other page in a "trade" too? This story just doesn't seem credible. I don't come on these boards looking to create a mob mentality. Normally, I wouldn't even notice. But I do tend to track the Preacher market so this was pretty obvious to me. You come on these boards and advertise your auctions. I feel it is only fair to warn potential bidders .
  14. No. Not 'nuff said... Why would someone offer you pages that you sold (i.e. Didn't want) as trade bait? Makes absolutely zero sense. It's not like they were even in your possession and the deal would have saved shipping. I'm saying bs. Everyone else who reads this would come to the same conclusion. Bidder beware of your next auction. That's my advice. 'Nuff said!
  15. AKA Rick is back on the boards!!!!! I tagged him on this so he could help clear the air. @aka Rick1
  16. AKA Rick is back!!! Check this out, Rick. I think this might pertain to you.
  17. It was just a joke. I picked up a couple as well. Obviously, they are not all shilled.
  18. maybe no one cares about this series? If a shill happens on a Preacher page and no one is there to see it, did it really happen?
  19. AKA Rick also sold this page on clink in August and now he is selling it again on eBay. Buyer beware, I guess... Goes to show shilling can happen anywhere. Doesn't have to be a big ticket item. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Vertigo-PREACHER-52-Steve-Dillon-ORIGINAL-ART-Garth-Ennis-1-2-SPLASH-Page-PG-/132112547272?hash=item1ec2857dc8:g:bqUAAOSwB09YDDpu
  20. That pinup is fantastic! I don't know if it is from the first issue of Star Wars Weekly (description is vague) but this has to be a very early piece of Star Wars art. Pieces done this early seem to be much more desirable than pieces done later on. I would love to win it but I am positive it will go much higher than I can afford. Cover for 460 bucks back in 2004 kinda makes sense. I have no idea to what issue it is for so I am sure that hurt value. That cover could have been done at any time
  21. These are just asking prices. People hoping to "hit it big". Nothing realistic imo. Especially what is left over. For example, this one sold on clink for $475 and is now listed on eBay for $1000. https://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions%5Ffirst%2Easp&id=1138521http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Vertigo-PREACHER-52-Steve-Dillon-ORIGINAL-ART-Garth-Ennis-1999-Tulip-Amy-/131987016928?hash=item1ebb0a0ce0:g:ey0AAOSwImRYDCjuHowever, with just a little bit of research here, I found one very surprising thing. AKA Rick auctioned it off on clink is he is also the guy currently selling it on eBay. Here he is soliciting the pages on the boards:http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=416610&Number=9555629#Post9555629And here he is linking his ebay account so we can see his ID.http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=424325&Number=9731235#Post9731235But back to the original point... Clearly, eBay prices aren't exactly market value.
  22. I am very skeptical. Red Raven has purchased from Leadpinkink or whatever they are called. He didn't seem too concerned when I told him that lots of people believe they are fakes. I would be highly interested in the provenance. I would be much more inclined to believe it is a stat from a reprint produced much later. There are just too many fakes. My first inclination is to believe any stat is a fake unless proven otherwise. But that is just me.
