  1. That is nuts. Not really if you are a CGC label collector and willing to pay up for the current CGC highest graded copy of a particular book. After all, it's only about 6X condition guide for a highest graded copy for this particular copy here. Now, if they was paying this kind of multiple for a lower graded restored copy, then I would definitely take more notice of the book itself.
  2. Well, since Dave himnself is also a board member here, maybe we should get it right from the horse's mouth then. After all, how can we forget that one and only rather infamous post years ago that Dave did where he really held nothing back at all and gave us a piece of his mind.
  3. Lol. She works in a hospital... all of her options are most likely infected... Aren't there a lot of young hunky doctors and hungry agressive interns at the hosptials like what we we say on the boob tube?
  4. Well, I hope you are doing your job well then, otherwise she might start looking at getting some more on the side at work. Or,maybe she already has been. Just kidding!!!
  5. Now, now....................let's not give the money hungry head honchos at CCG this kind of idea. Before you know it, they'll decide to cut back on their actual grading and pressing operations in light of CV19 and decide TO ONLY ACCEPT new submissions at both CGC and CCS and hence end up extending the TAT's even longer.
  6. Yes, totally agree with you as we can take a look at the trend of Coronavirus deaths in the U.S.A. to date: 1) As of Sunday March 22nd - a total of 300+ deaths to date; 2) As of Sunday March 29th - a total of 2,000+ deaths to date; 3) As of Sunday April 5th - a total of 9,600+ deaths to date; and 4) As of Sunday April 12th - believe me, this number will be very high as it's just basic math since I don't see a plateau yet.
  7. No, in terms of the GGA rankings , I would tend to believe it's still really pretty much a case of to each, their own.
  8. No, he got the Action 1 - 23 Church run from Snyder who was a major comic book broker at the time since I believe Anderson didn't have direct access to acquire any of the Church books directly from Chuck.
  9. I would second that with saying more of a price pause..Cap#1 and #3 and others were a pretty good indicator the market was running out of gas, I still feel however there was some play left in that Cap 1.,3 but things can only go in one direction for so long. Mitch; Although there does seem to be a bit of a drop off in prices for Cap 1, I definitely haven't seen this same drop off for Cap 3 as far as I can tell. For example, if I go and take a quick look at the public auction sales results going back to 2018 for Cap 3, it actually looks more like a slight uptrend to me: 1) Cap 3 in CGC 7.5 Universal grade sold on CC in June of 2018 for $80,000 or for 5.2X condition guide; 2) Cap 3 in CGC 6.0 Restored Slight (P) grade sold at HA in November of 2018 for $21,600 or for 3.27X Unrestored condition guide; 3) Cap 3 in CGC 5.5 Restored Slight (B-1) grade sold at HA in November of 2019 for $24,000 or for 3.36X Unrestored condition guide; 4) Cap 3 in CGC 4.0 Restored Slight (C-1) grade sold at HA in early March of 2020 for $18,000 or for 3.46X Unrestored condition guide; and 5) Cap 3 in CGC 1.0 Restored grade (Signature with Married Centerfold) sold at CL in late March for $7,105 or for 5.47X Unrerstored condition guide. Based upon these realized public auction prices for Cap 3 relative to condition guide, it looks to me like Cap 3 is still heading in one direction and running with a pretty full tank of gas, as opposed to running out of gas. Especially considering that most of these multiples to condition guide sales results were acheived on Restored copies, as opposed to Universal unrestored copies.
  10. Pretty sure I was the under bidder here. the 9.0 though that sold feb 2020 was $3k (because I think that per GPA, the $3k included the juice) -- so $6k it's about double a 9.0 -- that buyer must have wanted it awful lot, because I wanted it but was not sorry afterwards that I had lost it. Based upon what's currently taking place in the real world and a possible foreshadowing of what's going to take place in the comic book marketplace, you should be glad that you didn't win this copy at the price point that it went for. From my personal point of view, this is going to be a perfect example of the type of book that's destined to take a rather big fall from their record prices once collectors start to offload their books. Especially for a book like this that already has 11 copies in higher grade plus another 18 copies in equivalent graded condition. Most assurdedly a relative common book with already over 500 graded copies, with a whopping 60 of them in relatively HG condition at CGC 9.0 or higher. Definitely the type of book that you should be able to pick up with relative ease at a lower price point going forward as long as you have a bit of patience.
  11. Well, if this global lockdown lasts long enough, no doubt as I heard that the Corona plant down in Mexico is closed down since it's non-essential.
  12. Ah ha.....................so you are buying into the conspiracy theory that this whole CV-19 fiasco was all the work of some high level global financial cabal to make a ton of money.
  13. Well, from several long time collectors with rather extensive collections who I have heard about, the real public enemy #1 for comic hobbyists is your better half who is suddenly no longer your better half.
  14. To tell you the honest truth, I really couldn't care less if it came from the Dallas Stephens Collection or whatever. Now, if it was coming from the Jon Berk Collection or the Bob Overstreet Collection which they sadly do not recognize, that would be a completely different story.
  15. Absolutely love all of these early and extremely HTF Centaurs which you have just posted here for us to enjoy. Knowing your long standing love for these books, I imagine you probably had these in your personal collection for awhile or were they just picked up recently?
  16. Is this a copy and paste from a post you made just prior to the end of the recent CL auction since I seem to remember the same sentiment from that post at the time?
  17. Did you find this clearly overgraded copy of Bat 18 from the current CC Event Auction website, because I can't find it in there with the rest of their Batman books? This crystal clear image (or NOT) brings up another big BIG problem with their new revamp.........they really have to get rid of their magnify glass option and go back to their old Small, Medium, or Large option since I can't even read any of the smaller print on the CGC labels with this magnify glass option. In addition, all of their scans now looks fuzzy using this new technique of theirs to load in the images.
  18. Most of us survived 2008-9, 2000-2003, 1990-1993, 1974-1981, etc.. Sure, it wasn't a pandemic, but things crashed and burned pretty good. I believe his statement is probaly true with certain sectors of the marketplace as he was really referring to speculators and flippers, as opposed to long time collectors. As a result, I would certainly not be surprised to see a rather serious down draft in prices for short-term movie related hype books or for highest graded copies of otherwise recent common books. I don't think you'll see the same kind of down draft in the aera of HTF GA books that long time collectors probably purchased for pennies on today's dollar because they will simply hold onto them and wait for the market to rebound back up again. Especially since there's probably no urgent reason for the long term collectors to be selling since they've probably had these books for decades anyways, as opposed to the speculators or flippers who's game plan was probably to play the CPR game and to simply flip them back out within a short period of time.
  19. Well, I can definitely see these lockdowns being a big problem for some old time dealers like Harley since their business model is built almost entirely on face to face contact at conventions, and not so much on internet transactions.
  20. Well, don't forget to add in the Queen since it's probably a good idea for her to diversify her portfolio away from having the top stamp collection in the world. Or the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia with his bags full of money since he's definitely young enough to be hip with all of the super hero movies and the like.
  21. Roy; Can you please call Bill up and ask him to throw a few loose millions from his pocket change towards the comic book marketplace while he's digging through his wallet looking for his billions to throw at possible vaccines?
  22. Haven't you learned anything at all about the U.S. media during the past few years. Supposedly, everything on there is nothing more than FAKE NEWS or a hoax. On a more serious tone though, they are still finding out new things every single day about this particular Coronavirus, and hopes are high even though there's nothing solid or concrete to beat it to this point in time yet.
  23. That's probably a good plan of attack to follow. Who else knows that you stored you comics in this storage locker, as I inagine it really can't be more than a few people at most, hopefully? Best of luck for the OP to find their books sooner, rather than later.
  24. Especially since bidders probably had much more important things on their mind when these CL auctions were closing, as they were probably getting used to the new reality that we all now find ourselves in.
