  1. Hey guys, I’m home at my Parent’s place for Thanksgiving and digging through my stash of comics that I have here. Came across a few i plan on submitting to CGC but want to get a ball park to see if it’s worth it. Here’s one of my oldest comics that I have. What would u guys estimate the potential grade would be?

I believe it has to be a single minimum grade for the whole submission since there isn't an option to set it for each book. I suppose you could break it out into multiple submissions but then you'd have to pay the separate return shipping and processing for each submission.

This is what I was afraid of... thanks for the clarification. I have to think about what grades I'd be fine with for my next submission.

But be careful elsewhere, many people have very strong feelings on the subject.

Oh I found that out already... posted these on reddit and got a REALLY strong reactio which is why I came here :nyah: They're Whitmans according to the CLZ app as well.

CCS is the in-house pressing service you can use to CPR signature books. Some of us were able to do so in the past but they have cracked down on allowing third party companies to do so.

I would send the book in the slab and let them do it. Once a signature book is removed from the slab CGC will no longer honor the signature.

What kind of ink or paint was used to sign the book? Sharpies are no problem to press but other types of paint could be problematic.

CGC won't honor the signature even if they are the one cracking the slab?  Not sure what kind of paint was used for the siganture... it was THIS book

That particular one isn't mine, that's the same book I got though in a 9.6 >:(

  5. So a buddy of mine went to San Diego Comic Con this year and picked up a signed book for me that that he immediately submitted for grading. Unfortunately he didn't also get the book pressed and the book came back a 9.6... one of the few copies that came back less than a 9.8, one even going for a 9.9. I want to resubmit the book and get it cracked, pressed and regraded but is that wise? Can getting it pressed affect the siganture? Does CGC's in house pressers do this? Also does anyone know any good pressers that will crack a slabbed book safely in the Los Angeles area? Thanks!

Look at what Iron Man says, though. “For about two seconds.” With extra electricity and everything channeled toward the system that gives him super-Strength, he can achieve that level for maybe half a minute. Look at Avengers #165 vs Count Nefaria, or Iron Man #132, where he lays out the Hulk with a single punch. That’s all he’s referring to.

fair enough, I didn't read that part... he did knock The Hulk out with one punch. That list is still off though. Silver Surfer is easily Thor/Hulk level for example.

I remember it, but shortly afterwards, the official handbook to the Marvel Universe really put things into perspective as to the strength of every marvel character.

the strength group Spidey was placed into for the 1981 annual was waaaaaay above his class.  🤣

Yeah Iron Man was in the wrong class too. They had him in there with Hercules, The Hulk and Thor and above the Thing, Collossus and Sasquatch. I used to obsess over strength levels when I was younger and when comics paid attention to stuff like this. Now they just don't give a mess.

The Thing doesn't belong in his group.  By 1980,he had fought many of them and came out second best every time.

I'd have thought Cap still had his super-strength back then, but might be mistaken. Hank Pym never gained super strength so I don't know why Black Goliath would have. Putting him in with the Surfer is strange.

The Thing is one of the strongest folks IN that group. Namor was only stronger than him in water and he was DEFINITELY stronger than Sasquatch and Thundra. There was a comic where Sasquatch and The Thing were facing off and he admitted himself that he wasn't as strong as Ben. I think it was in one of the Infinity series...

I imagine cgc right now is saying :flipbait:

Lol jk but welcome of course! I hope you can fund the cgc submissions by selling some raw doubles. ^^

    Regardless welcome!

That's the plan... and flipping some hot modern books that I have that I know won't have any long term value. That said, I'm not gonna go crazy slabbing books. Most of my older books are back East at my parents' place and I'll have a better idea once I get back East and inventory those books as well.
