  1. Its not about how many books you get graded as a 9.9, its about how many books you look at and "DON'T BUY" that get you the 9.9's. Its called work.

What if submitter A looked at 3500 books, bought 9 copies, scored 7 9.8's and two 9.9's.

    What if submitter B looked at 150 comics, bought 10 copies. Got 4 9.6's, and 6 9.8's.

Should submitter B be upset he didn't get a 9.9 :makepoint:

  2. I have a Modern order invoiced on May 14th that still has not shipped. Its been graded but it still sits. That order is at 17 weeks or 85 days. I suppose there is some holiday and convention days in there, but it looks longer than the 70 days listed on the web site as current turn around time for moderns. :(

  3. He has been buying comics from me for 3-4 years, than marks them up in his fixed priced inventory. He has set up at Wondercon, I chatted with him there. I would not hesitate to make a purchase from him.

Did he buy your Albedo 2 CGC 9.6, Tom? That is a favorite investment of his, and a book we both appreciate.

    :cloud9:

No he did not buy my old Albedo 2 in 9.6.

Cool. His Ebay listing is ending tomorrow. I just tried to look up "Comic Mylars" in San Jose, CA so I can make him an offer, and apparently there's no business listing for that name.

I do remember talking to him on the phone like 3 years ago, he sells on Ebay as a hobby. He has a full time job.

  5. I dont want to sound like a debbie downer first of all. I want to state I'm a modern collector, I mostly love moderns but realizing in the grand scheme of things, making a flip from a modern comic doesn't seem like a big deal. Ok you might find a comic in a recluse comic book store for a couple bucks or you hear an tip on the internet about a new rare comic coming out and flip on ebay for what 50-60 then you gotta deal with ebay/paypal taking there chunk and the rarely of finding those books. Can/do people make a profit, let alone a living from modern comics? do those people really exist?

    :hi:

    And over here. :hi:

  6. What's the deal with the ASM (vol 2) #19? Is it another of those little know low print runs? Or are they just never in NM condition? I've tried to snag one or two just out of curiosity, but they've always went for more than I was willing to pay for something I knew so little about...

I'm lumping it in with ASM 430-431 as being viewed as a relevant book in the "dead era".

There's a few more Amazing Spiderman issues that always pull 2X to 3X Cover Price or More that are from the "Dead Era".

    Here's a list of them.

    Amazing Spiderman Vol.1

    #403, 408(Variant), 410, 416(With Cards), 430-431, 432 (Wanted Poster Variant), 434, 435, and 438-439.

    and

    Amazing Spiderman Vol.2

    #1(Sun Burst Variant), 1(Dynamic Forces Variant), 19, 21-29, and 36.

ASM V2 21-28 is always hit and miss for me. 25 does very well in newstand non ehanced form because its print run was nothing.

ASM 432 Wanted always sells well for me

Marvel Legend ASM 437 Sells well for me too because its a very tough find.

416 I find with cards alot or I am just lucky I guess.

The 400 White cover sells for way over guide, the 408 variant is amusing to buy at LCS's who think its the regular edition.

  7. The entire print run was like this. It's also not the only book printed this way. There may be a small handful that don't have these tears, but it's not likely.

How does that even happen where the ENTIRE print run has that exact same defect of a few rips in the corner?

What was the print run for that book? I don't know a heck of a lot about printing but that just strikes me as a odd defect for the entire print run to have ???

There have been issues found without the printing defect, but their condition prevented 9.8 grading for other reasons.

If there are scattered copies out there without the defect, this book will show up in a 9.8 holder sooner than you think.
