Went to the Philly Comic Con monthly show today with my buddy Todd, and managed to pick up three little funnybooks. Tried to land a bigger fish, but I must have been using the wrong bait, or the price was just too crazy
But I'm happy to come home with these
Three great books but I love that Sup 5.

I love the Mod 8.0.....wish I had the funds.

Here is a few group shots of my Famous Funnies collection, the first 3 photos are my slabbed and registered, quite a few are "highest graded". The challenge has been just locating some issues in any grade at times. The last 3 photos are my 44 raw books I can't afford to slab just yet.
Great collection of Famous Funnies JD
I've always been fond of those books
Thanks, it's been a most challenging thus far.

Great books!!!

Not sure if I posted this photo when this thread first started. Just part of what I discovered the day I walked into room where I first saw the Windy City collection...
Very nice!!!

The #1 is missing the centerfold, but I have a coverless copy where I could marry the centerfold. #2 is a nice 4.5/5.0 white pages. #7 is low grade, the pages are weak. #18 is 2.5 white pages (bit low for the run). Dont have plans to get them graded.

Here is my attempt of a WW run from 1 to 25. Only need two more issues, 4 & 6.
One and a half years later, I finally got my run completed from 1 to 25.
-
PIcked these two up at the cc auction. When the Schomburg airbrush bug hits, it hits hard.

Thanks to Brent from Quality for helping me fill a whole in my WW collection.
Was happy with the 3.0, but thrilled to win this upgrade on CC tonight.

My scanner does not do this book justice. The colors on this book are so bright, they seem to be newsstand fresh.
A certain boardie, that I've known a very long time, was kind enough to sell me this marvelous book.
You can't see it in this scan, but on the left side of the cover, just above GL's cape is the remnants of the name LARSON, that some dimwit erased.
I"m thrilled to own the Larson copy of one of my favorite GA covers.
I LOVE IT!!! Absolutely beautiful copy with amazing colors. If you ever decide to sell....

I'd take the All Star #8 and All American #16.
+1

Those snobs in "Pre-Robin Tec Club" wouldn't let me in without a ticket , but I do have an entry to join "Early Action Comics Club" Wooo Hooo
I used to have several early Actions, but finances caused me to sell many of them unfortunately. Here's one I kept:
Presents very well for the grade...gorgeous FC.

yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not much doubt about what "4" i will be posting tomorrow on the new year's thread.
Holy!
Insanely nice book Mr. Parker!
thanks y'all. you know how there are ugly 4.0's, so-so 4.0's and PRETTY 4.0's?? i was so happy to see this one falls, imo, firmly in the latter category. i'm just thrilled.
I am in LOVE. What a great book for its grade! Nice colors to boot. if you decide to upgrade

Was able to (finally) upgrade my copy of AA17. This book is not as hot as it used to be, be remains one of my favorites (because I cannot afford an AA16.) Got it for what I consider a bargain and I'm in with the OW/W Pq.
Nice pick up! (thumbs u

If you had a choice between three SA comics
1) FF#1 6.0
2) AF#15 6.0
3) Hulk#1 6.0
how would you rank them as best investment for percentage increase in 10 years?

Just thought I would post some of my San Diego pickups. It was a great con and it was nice to connect with a few of my fellow board members.
First is Sensation Comics 35. I bought this from John Verzyl. It is one of my favourite covers of the run and couldn't resist the white pages. The Okajima pedigree has such a great story behind it too.
The Wonder Woman 18 I got from MrBedrock. 18 has never been one of my favourite covers, but now that I am going to complete 1-20 I needed a copy. Thanks Richard.
Wow! That Sensation 35 is stunning!!!
-
And thanks to Bob-a-loo (and his recent purchase) I was able to get a #1.
Nice copy with great pages!!! I need to upgrade my #1.

Behold, my personal grail
congrats! great book.

my buddy 143ksk has been telling me my timely s/h run is incomplete without this book for a long time, but i resisted. then last nite i jumped on ebay and checked "ending soon" listings in gold, and this was about 2 minutes from ending. i figured fate was playing a hand, so i sniped with about 4 secs left, and it took every bit of my bid to get it. pricey, but i'm glad to have it.
Nice! Like to get one some day.

Bob-a-loo, did you grab the Crippen WW#1 on CL? Sold fast.

Fellow comic lovers I would like to share my very personal and loved early Batman Tec collection. A collection I dreamed about as a young teen, and now many years later have been privileged to build as an adult. I've been asked a few times either on a thread or PM to post my early Tecs as with a name like "Bat-Man" as a handle I must be collecting a few early goodies. I've been waiting until the best time to post a group shot, and with my newly acquired Tec 39 today - I believe it is time.
Without further rambling, my most beloved and treasured comics I own.
The Tec 31 is a CGC 2.5 (hard to see grade in pic) and the 35 is a complete low grade as well.
Fantastic!
Maybe I'm crazy, but my favorite book in that shot is the coverless #28. I like that issue a lot. Very underrated.
Awesome books. I need some early Tecs.
