  1. No. I know what I would pay and that's my limit. However, I'm more certain that ever that I'm likely to overpay vs. the "real" market.
  2. Why wouldn't they? They are getting money from both the seller and the high bidder. Because shill bidding is illegal in Texas unless it is disclosed prior to the auction. They now have knowledge that his items will be shill bid so either: 1) They state that shill bidding is allowed or 2) They ban Mike from directly consigning or 3) They could face legal issues (civil and criminal I'd think). Seems like a good reason to ban him.
  3. Frame is nice, but camel toe dominated the picture.
  4. Hey! I resemble that remark ... at least when it comes to posting artwork ... but I like the latter and will now say that I am less than diligent when it comes to updating my CAF gallery! "less than diligent" and "insufficiently thoughtful" are two of my favorite euphemisms.
  5. I agree with Terry. People are often lazy or less than diligent.
  6. It finally arrived! I’m speaking of my copy of the Locust Moon Press book - Little Nemo: Dream Another Dream. This book collects short stories (1 page to 4 pages) from a huge number of artists. I got mine as part of the Kickstarter that funded its creation and it came with a drawing by Farel Dalrymple. Farel came to Houston back in November of 2014 and he’d already completed the drawing, but the signature plate was still in circulation. It only took 14 more months to get here! Anyway, I got a drawing of Flip - Nemo’s rival and friend along with a bunch of signatures. Check it out. As usual, click to embiggen.
  7. This is odd. I posted my first piece on 12/18/2006 so I must have joined about then. But my number is 10225 . So: [font:Courier New] Eric__________Alex Summer 2007___Winter 2006 7723__________10225[/font] This indicates that the Gallery number is not always indicative of a linear growth. Thoughts?
  8. I think Bill's policy of shutting down both seller and buyer sites until they indicate that the dispute is resolved is about as much as he can and should do.
  9. Christmas is running over a bit this year. Kathy bought me the last three pages of the comic Huck #1 featuring story by Mark S. Millar and art by Rafael Albuquerque. I was quite moved by the sequence and suggested it as a Christmas gift. It was a very pleasant surprise to find out on Christmas Day that she'd picked it up for me. Click the image and read more about it.
  10. I don't know of such a list, but I remember that they said that they would confirm if particular strips are in their collection.
  11. He's a little coarse and a hard drinker, but, in my experience, he's a good guy. The F-word is a big part of his speech at times, that's true.
  12. Great story and a wonderful wife. On the wife gift giving front, it was many years before my wife and I could get on the same page. I hate getting gifts that I don't want especially when they come from my family, i.e, out of our joint checking account. It's just a waste and makes me sad not glad. So, how did we fix it? Well, one of the things that made a huge difference is that I started making a list and keeping it up to date. It has books, commission possibilities, even specific pieces of art that I'd like. Food for thought. P.S. I get that I'm an ungrateful lout.
  13. Ivoryhunger, Ducoso, and fosworld are on my personal do not buy list. Others may do as they wish. They may have real pieces to sell, but I won't be buying them. Happy New Year!
  14. Christmas continues at the Johnson household. Kathy commissioned a Sugar & Spike #100 cover for me from Katie Cook featuring her characters Gronk, Dale, Kitty, and Harli along with the twins. It arrived today and it's delightful. Check it out (click to embiggen):

  16. My daughter loves pandas, Mushu, and Mulan in no particular order. When I got a chance to commission Tom Bancroft, Mushu's Supervising Animator, it was a no brainer to get this as a Christmas present for her.

  18. Another Christmas gift from me to my Disney villainess loving wife. Mike Maihack's Maleficent. If you don't know Mike's work, check out Cleopatra in Space and his series of one page webcomics featuring Supergirl and Batgirl(I think those are great).

  20. Katie Cook never disappoints. She did this for my youngest's Christmas. She also picked up some new mini-paintings.
  21. The first of several adds at Christmas for me. This is a commission idea that's been kicking around my head for a long time. I finally decided to ask Dan Parent to draw it and found out that he's a big Leigon fan, too. Hope you enjoy it. As usual, click to embiggen and read about the drawing.
