  1. I've often wondered who was on the receiving end. I guess I'd like to see the other half.
  2. While nothing is going to beat a sketchbook collected over three years, Kathy managed one more major surprise for my birthday. She arranged for Terry Moore to create a drawing of Rachel Beck from his book Rachel Rising for my birthday. Thanks to Terry, Robyn, and Kathy for this terrific gift. I love the tombstone!
  3. My family has taken on a pack of vicious killer weenie dogs plus 1 beagle. I don't know if we'll survive. A giclee print by Thom Zahler for my birthday.
  4. It's good, but my Grogg! could take him! What Art does on a "con sketch" is pretty darned impressive. He did a Lone Ranger in someone's sketchbook at the show where I got Grogg! that was amazing, too. Congrats.
  5. Last one. From Agnes Garbowska, we have Rebecca's tabby cats (Fred and George).
  6. Commissioned by my daughter, drawn by Brent with some consulting by his fiancee Emily, and signed by Jack Gleeson (King Joffrey). Take a look: You can see it signed by Joffrey in the Additional Images.
  7. Here's another piece by Matthew Weldon that my daughter bought and I call "Imagination Unleashed." For completeness and just to show his range, here's my daughter's commisison - Kitty Potter.
  8. You might want to click the link and read the description. Overground Comics has an unusual approach to their universe and Plus Ultra is not a typical super-hero. I like Matthew's work a lot and I really like the body language on these two pages. P.S. Yes, there's more being posted while I watch Rice play LSU. Go Owls. Expect more posts.
  9. I would not want that angry Hulk after me! Yep. We sing it in the middle of the 7th inning of a baseball game right after Take me out to the ballgame. I can explain baseball later, but think cricket but faster. You can hear it here:
  10. Farmers raise crops. Ranchers raise cattle. They don't like each other because: Farmers put up barbed wire fences on perfectly good ranch land. Ranchers let their animals trample and eat anything. Don't get cattle ranchers started about sheep. From deep in the heart of Texas, Alex
  11. That is beautiful! Thanks! I think Liam did a great job. He was also bored which helped.
  12. I was strong at SPCC. I went there to get Joe Rubinstein to finish a character on my Sgt. Rock piece and that was it! I was determined to resist buying any other art because I've spent almost all of my budget for the year and Fan Days Dallas, Comicpalooza, and Amazing! Houston Comic Con are all in the near future. But then Liam Sharp, new WW artist, showed me a Conan he'd done on-spec. It was excellent. So, since he had free time and made such a compelling case, I succumbed to his hard sell tactics, i.e., showing his work. Curses! A few hours later, I have a new addition to my collection. Watch Liam work on it in the Additional Images.
  13. A few minor tweaks to my CAF page: A much improved scan of the OA for my Farlaine the Goblin page. Have you bought the book yet? The preliminary to my Echo print OA by Terry Moore was on ebay from the CBLDF (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund). I bid, but lost. Sigh... Still, I grabbed the image and added to my piece so you can see a bit about how Terry Moore works. I was contacted by Marcus Mebes - fan of Scott Shaw's Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew. He asked if I'd let him digitally color the piece. I said sure why not. I think he did a great job of capturing the look of a 1960s comic book cover. Joe (Josef Rubinstein) completed (inked and colored) Bulldozer on my Sgt. Rock and Easy Company jam. Last year at Comicpalooza, Joe colored Sgt. Rock and started Bulldozer (left most figure) when he discovered he had to catch a ride to the airport. Luckily for me, he was here this year for the Space City Comic Con. This jam is looking good in my opinion. One last figure; who will I get? I don't know. Other than some autographs, this is probably my only get from SPCC. They had some good guests (Thom Zahler, Joe, Matt Haley, Aaron Lopresti, Joe Jusko, and LIam Sharp), but I spent too much at Emerald City and Kickstarter. Sigh...
  14. Nice pickup, Pete, and thanks for pointing out the Kickstarter on the comicart-l. Farlaine is a terrific series.
  15. Once again, I have managed to reduce my daughters' inheritance! This is my page of original comic book art from the fourth book of Farlaine The Goblin's story. Check it out.
  16. He claimed the Iron Throne AND Aquaman's pants. For those that don't remember, here's a favorite Aquaman image.
  17. Timely! Cap seems a bit unhappy with old helmet head.
  18. Flat out amazing accomplishment. Congrats!
  19. It's really nice as a recreation, but it's not the original cover.
