https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/041015/how-do-interest-rate-changes-affect-profitability-banking-sector.asp#:~:text=Interest rates and bank profitability, profits they earn by investing.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Interest rates and bank profitability are connected, with banks benefiting from higher interest rates.
    • When interest rates are higher, banks make more money by taking advantage of the greater spread between the interest they pay to their customers and the profits they earn by investing.
    • A bank can earn a full percentage point more than it pays in interest simply by lending out the money at short-term interest rates.
    • Moreover, higher interest rates tend to reflect a healthy economy. Demand for loans to businesses and consumers should be high, with the bank making better returns on those loans.

     Take your logic elsewhere sir!

Oh my God, I cannot believe I won.  First of all, I have been participating in these grading contest since the beginning (even before CGC started sponsoring/running the current grading contests) when the board ran our own contests.  I have been in the top 25 to 50% group and Honorable Mention Group but never ever been in the top 3 and not even close to the top 10 in any of the contests.  I was considering not entering this time because I figure that I have no chance and why bother.  I decided to enter again because the contests are always fun even if frustrating.  So the lesson to everyone here, don't give up and keep playing, you know never know what is possible.  What did I do different this time to improve and win?  Honestly nothing changed.  My advice is to go with your gut and 1st instinct and not 2nd guess yourself.  Don't overthink it.  Let's face it.  You need a lot of luck to win this contest.  My decades of comic collecting finally paid off and the right books/defects showed up in the contest.  I think a lot of grading is based personally on the books we have seen and graded in our lifetime but can continually learn.  We all have certain biases and influences that determine a comic grade for us.   Thank you to the CGC Forum for making me a better grader.

     Congratulations!

Very. very well-done. This was a hard round!

I was one grading degree away on four out of the five. My grades:

    War Victory #1-   5.5

    Tim Holt #17 -   4.0 (maybe I was really :cloud9: here)

    Spidey #73 -   9.6

    X-Men #97 -   9.0

    Crossfire #12 -   8.0

I bombed in other rounds. This one I just graded in 30 seconds total and it went well. Maybe it was luck lol

You got that right. Trends come and go, and liking Marvel was exactly that, a trend. Personally, I never liked any of the Marvel movies at all. For the past 14 years, all Marvel fans did was troll and destroy anything DC on the internet, just to force Marvel comic values to shoot up. I honestly have no respect for Marvel, or their fans. In fact, when I was a kid, I liked both DC and Marvel, but grew out of liking Marvel. I just felt like it was for little kids, and just bland and boring.

I just like comics, good stories entertain me. For whatever reason you speak as if you are some elitist and look down on others because they collect what they enjoy.. You should probably look into just talking to people and not judging them over the most trivial krap.

I am not struggling as I am exactly doing pretty well. Most of the mainstream investors moved on. They will continue to move on. It wasn`t about cutting corners. Most people rather spend/invest their money on other things now. The Marvel movie spell hype is over. Wait a year when prices will be even lower.  This is a great time to be a comic book collector, not a comic book investor. Let`s face most comic book investors have lost 50% or more these last few years. We are not talking 5 or 10 percent. The same thing happened with sports cards and other collectibles. People got smart as in they can make more money in the stock market or high-yield savings account.

As a comic collector and dealer I can say 2 things with absolute confidence.

The stock market at it's best has never been able to duplicate profits I have been able to find in comics.

Coming in and trying to invest in comics while not knowing what you're doing is no different than if I came in and dumped all my money into a few stocks because some investing guru told me to. If you don't take the time to really learn comics (takes years), you will not be successful.
