Someone sure does love Jester's Cap, yet I don't see a physical copy of the card anywhere on display (unless it's in the top right corner above the X-Men #1 (partially obstructed by glare)). Also, is that the original art for Orzhov's Signet and Orzhov's Locket?
I have every copy of the card in every language (including proofs), but they're on display elsewhere. Yes those are the originals to Signet and Locket. You can see my art collection here: https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=107147

Ah, the Reverse Rule of 25 at work again! At long last, nobody remembers the Generation X TV movie, and now this book can finally soar to the moon! Just like Kitty did in Pryde of the X-Men!!
Good call on X-Men #129, JesterSB!
Oh god did a 9.8 really sell for $5K last week? That can' t be legit can it?

2 more $3K+ showings for X-Men 129. It appears this is the new norm for this book, even for not so nicely presenting copies.

$3840. Essentially doubled in price in the past 2 months.

I have some Jeff Easley transfer sketches from the 2019 Flair set available. They're pretty rough because he used them to transfer the pencils from the paper to the painting surface. Still very cool process art.

When you think you can pick up a 9.6 for around $500 yes!
It either means the 9.8 is overpriced (unlikely since 3 sold very quickly at that price), or 9.6s are underpriced, and will also disappear shortly from the supply. I had been looking for this book in 9.8 for a couple months and none were available. I snagged one ~$2400 once these sales happened.

Julie also mentioned that her Clone from Alpha sold privately for $120K at some point (she didn't sell it for that, a private collector did). Not proof, but strong evidence of a 6 figure sale.

Jace finishes at $28,100 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/153128320251?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l10137

It does beg the question what’s the most expensive piece of comic art from 1993 forward (the date of mtg starting), because I don’t think there’s a piece of comic art created from 93 to today that would be worth as much as the premier mtg piece(s).
Walking Dead #1 cover? Maybe a REAL nice early Spawn cover?

I mean... you know the market better than me. But its Conch Horn. From Fallen Empires.
As much as the power of the card matters in MtG art, there actually ARE other factors. I own a bunch of pieces that are blah cards, but beautiful art, and not cheap to purchase. The name of the artist DOES matter too. As does nostalgia.

Conch Horn from Fallen Empires sold for 10k at heritage.
A POS card like that for 10k is more impressive than Shahrazad at 72
It's definitely higher than I thought it would go for, but it is a nicer Phil piece. The Foglios definitely have a big following outside of MTG, and their pieces were all sold long ago, so they are very rare to come up for auction. Also, bitcoin.

Just in a general sense. That card is what got her noticed.
But she's evolved as an artist a LOT since then. The art on the original Force of Will would be mostly forgettable on a non-iconic card. The arts for these Planeswalkers are really amazing, and traditionally painted PWer art is few and far between, adding another premium.

Its all nostalgia/context/ etc. Neilsen's new paintings like Liliana aren't worth a fraction of 24k without her association to the game. Arguably without her having done Force of Will specifically.
None of this is really about the quality of the rendering. Its about the quality of the connection to the audience.
I wouldn't say that Force of Will has anything to do with this. Terese has a very distinct style that is really appealing to a lot of collectors. I would love to own a Nielsen, but in general her cards don't fit my collection, or are out of my price range.
