Are your other two submissions in SFG status? Mine were received just after yours but they haven't changed status since. I contacted support inquiring but they basically said that I'm still within the expected TAT. I have no problem waiting. I'm just curious more than anything, but it seems like maybe they don't do it FIFO?

They all are at "Scheduled for Grading" and were shipped in the same box. The changed to that from Recieved after maybe 3 weeks.

Additionally I have a bulk order too that also was in the same box and marked recieved the same time, but it's status still remains as recieved.

I sent some cards to be reholdered. It got received on April 8. I am not sure when it hit SFG, ( I got billed on the 25th of April). Anyone here recently done reholders that could tell me how many days it took?

Or has enough time passed where I should contact CGC for an update.

My last reholder took the estimated 30 days. You're on day 36. I would try calling.

On the Omega thing, do they announce cert #'s before someone buys the box? I don't know how one would know beforehand what cards are in the box otherwise (sorry if this is an obvious question)

I think that the $5 reholder charge is amazing...and I totally agree this is a part of why things have slowed down.

Compared to the PSA slab (which is in SORE need of a revision I do believe) CGC's look modern and sleek. I even prefer the older blue comic-style labels to PSA's. If CGC didn't exist, I would hands-down say PSA is best out there (compared to SGC, Beckett, or anyone else) but since CGC does exist I see why their slabs are preferred and being an already-established comic book grader that easily draws the comic crowd their direction (at least in my 'case' - get it? lol).

Just because PSA has been around longer in no way makes them better...they just have an existing older and maybe larger fan-base. Give it 1-2 decades and we'll see how that looks because I'm willing to be there will be a new king of the castle in the trading card market by then if not sooner.

They have shown off in promotion images and videos the "big hits" and you can see the cert numbers off of those kinds of things, plus when people have made opening videos of them etc.

Maybe like 2 or 3 runs so far of boxes theyve done? Not super sure. They are always just CGC slabbed cards. I admittedly did get one when they first started showing up and pulled jack lol Was 10 slabs and only 1 was worth over $30. $200 total for the box.

One of the owners of them is a controversial figure in the hobby I think. All I know is a youtuber guy goes after him alot to the point where he got hinself sued for defamation lol

But anyways, the boxes are also a mix of old blue slabs and the new label slabs. I'm sure the company subs some cards themselves and that's what people in this thread are blaming the longer TaTs on. Omega grading bulk junk slabs.

Like most mystery bag things, it's usually a rip off for the buyer.

  4. People just like to complain about TaTs.

Omega isn't great, but they sourced a lot of already graded junk slabs for their mystery boxes. You can tell by looking at the cert numbers.

CGC is still grading more cards YoY almost every month. Hard for them to keep up with the demand and increased popularity since the new label change. Lowering the reholder price permanently back down to $5/card also has an effect. Still hasn't even been a year since the new labels. Gonna take time for a new normal to establish in the TaTs.

But like I said, people like to complain.

I wonder if anyone can explain to me how a card with an older registration number (Something in the 37900 range) could get a M+9.5 grade even if it were submitted for regrading. If the card was a GM9.5 originally it would now be a 10. I don't see how any cards that were originally graded a M9 could move up to M+9.5. Anything with two nines would still be a M9. Anything with an 8.5 could move no higher than a M9. I see many cards with old registration numbers that seem to have been reholdered with M+9.5 grades. Am I the only one that finds this confusing?

I had a friend get cards sent in for reholdering and a few of them got regraded mistakenly, but they retained their cert numbers.

He got them all fixed, but any card that got a higher grade than it had before CGC let them keep it. So he has a few older cert numbers in the new mint+ 9.5 🤷‍♂️

Man I'm on business day 33 or 34 of my Economy order still in scheduled for grading. I've tried to reach out to CGC on IG and even sent a support ticket message and no response. I feel like I'm getting well beyond the 20 business day turnaround time and it hasn't changed or increased, should I call them? CGC used to be super fast and it seems like my turnaround times get longer and longer with each new order....

I would say calling is the best way to get an answer. Sometimes you have to hold 5 or 10min to get an agent, but then you get an answer instead of an IG dm or email you have no idea got read.

Maybe you can mention to whom is in charge of relaxing the grading standards... That I'm being pushed away from CGC because of it... And not the other way around. It used to be challenging to obtain a Gem Mint grade... Now it's becoming more like PSA. Just give Gem Mint to everything close enough.

They can say nothing has changed all they want... But the numbers don't lie. The numbers say exactly what is going on. 461% increase in Gem Mint frequency is not just a coincidence... It is a clear change in what is considered Gem Mint.

Like I mentioned - I'm not just tracking this specific card - and the standards for Gem Mint have been relaxed across the board. The only reason I submitted through CGC was because they USED to be more strict. Let the team know. Strict is better. Rarity is better. Low population is better.

There is an error I had reported and CGC keeps just telling me they are working on it.

All of my cards Ive sent in for reholder have been getting re-added to the pop report. Lots of cards I know for certain because they were 1 of 1s at their grade, and obscure cards.

Curious if lots of this new pop report data you are seeing could be cards sent in for reholder that are getting counted again and duplicated in the pop report.

From 2022-2023, the great thing about CGC was the quick turnaround times. Waiting 2+ months to get 25 cards graded is insane. At what point do they offer partial refunds? Does anyone know what PSA and Beckett have for turnaround times?

Regardless of whether they've had a large influx of cards around the holidays, sitting on cards for 2+ months makes me wonder if there are some serious operational inefficiencies in the facility.

I have friends who sent cards to PSA last summer who are still waiting for them to come back.

My local card shop does submissions for PSA, they send once a month and usually its 4-5 mo for returns.

BGS I have no idea. I only know people who do walk-through at shows, so it's like $80 or $100/card or something

    Economy

    Delivered: Feb 1
    Received: Feb 7
Changed turnaround time from 20 to 30 days: Feb 15
    Scheduled for grading: Feb 20

Today was the 20th business day, so it looks like they are gonna blast right through that estimated turnaround time. Again. Like always.

The clock doesn't start till they are entered as recieved, and after you factor in the President's Day Holiday, you are at 16 Business Days so far.
