JC Penny/Stridex variant/reprint! Great score!
-
Most of the books that came in Superman packs 1978/1979 are the most common thanks to the popularity of the Superman movie. Have seen tons of sealed examples in my travels.

Was able to dig out my copies of Beagle Boys Vs Uncle Scrooge 11 now that my arm has started to heal.

Prepack mail call and a couple of rare Whitmans from 1980 that I found at a local shop.’(Popeye 158 is the rarest of the 1980 Whitmans IMHO)

Great score! That Looney 34 is tough
-
Very nice! Congrats! You’ve managed to find a lot of the expensive ones as well as some of the rarer ones.

Here are some of the other books I found at that same shop. Nothing high grade but tough to resist at those prices

Funniest thing just happened. Since I’m off work at the moment due to I jury, decided to hop into my Time Machine and check out a shop I usually avoid and found this. It’s yours for the selling price (plus shipping) if you want it. (There was no #10 unfortunately) PM me if you do.

Happy to help out. These types of discussions are my favourite thing about the hobby and the community that has formed here on the boards

So I went through my rare Whitman boxes and I did not store the Beagle Boys issues with the rest of these so they are mixed into the rest of the collection. ( I didn’t think they were correctly classified as 8-80 to 12-80 rare Whitmans) Unfortunately I can’t do much lifting at this point so I cannot dig them out but I did find a pic I sent a friend at the time I picked them up. (Looks like there were only two copies) I also found a pic of a sealed pack that contained beagle boys 12 Whitman. It came with Donald Duck 221 which is a rare Whitman from 1980.
-
Oddly enough I saw that article about the #11 years ago, and I can confirm that they do exist. I managed to pick up 3 copies about 8 years ago just in case they were actually rare. Glad I did I guess. I don’t have picture on my phone but I’ll try to dig them up. (Which is problematic when you ripped your bicep last week)

A friend sent me a link to a LOSH 264 Whitman that was for sale at what I thought was an astronomical price. I go back today, and it apparently sold. I’m shocked!
-
I would have to agree even though I’ve only seen anecdotal evidence of that. Found a picture online from a seller that was selling fantastic four and Thor books out of the UK and they posted a pick of the books they had. All unbagged large diamond books that were old store stock.

Picked up a collection last night and these guys were tucked inside. Interesting that they have distributed by Whitman on the bag. -

Later print for Return of the Jedi, not FF 249 -
Let’s hope. I know of a collector in Edmonton who has a 9.0.

It has a blown bottom staple. Noticed it last night when I went looking at completed listings. I think it’s tougher to find than DCCP 22
