  1. MAR 1979 has information contrary to this from people at DC themselves, can you please provide sources as I think this might be a major grading error being done by CGC. 1982 Masters of the Universe DC NN promo was never distributed separately. All experienced collectors know this as well as DC historians Paul Levitz and Bob Rozakis . Perhaps a mistake was made on CGC's end. I invite actual evidence to the contrary to be displayed. This preview was only available as DC's 16 Page Comic Preview Insert. No other insert was included in as many different series as this MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE PREVIEW which appeared in the November 1982 issues of 16 different ongoing series which was twice as many as MASK (preview insert included in 8 ongoing series issues) and eight times as many as THE ATARI FORCE (preview insert included in 2 ongoing series). These were the only three inserts which appeared in more than one series from the entire run of these specials beginning in October 1980 and ending in September 1985. The "insert" was attached with the same staples as the main title's pages. Pages 8 and 9 of the insert form the centerfold of all complete issues in which it was included. It was not released by DC as a stand-alone. This preview appears in the issues of the following comics: Action Comics #537 All-Star Squadron #15 Arak, Son of Thunder #15 Batman #353 Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew #9 Daring New Adventures of Supergirl #1 DC Comics Presents #51 Detective Comics #520 The Fury of Firestorm #6 Justice League of America #208 The Legion of Super-Heroes vol. 2 #293 The New Adventures of Superboy #35 The New Teen Titans #25 Superman #377 Warlord #63 Wonder Woman #63
  2. Really? I’m surprised. Who was contacted? Was it DC, the publisher, the toy companies, the video game companies? Would most of these come from Sparta?
  3. I'm sorry but the newsprint versions were never sold or distributed separately, they were inserts. The Sonic preview comic was printed on glossy paper and the Master of the Universe preview was reprinted separately in 2009 on glossy paper and came packaged with action figures. Those are the only way those two books were distributed separately. The newsprint paper versions have all been pulled out of comic books and should not be receiving a grade. Why else would the have Advertisement or preview typed up at the top? It was to differentiate the pages from the comic book or magazine that they were included in.
  4. Hey there, I was wondering why preview inserts that are found in comic books, are even being graded by CGC? The inserts themselves are physically the centerfold of the comic that it was pulled from. The comic is essentially destroyed in order to pull the insert out. Examples are the Sonic insert (which contrary to popular belief is not the one distributed separately as a promotional item), the MASK preview from DC, the Masters of the Universe preview from DC, the Teen Titans preview from DC Comics Presents 26 and the Atari Force preview from DC. They share the same staples as the rest of the book, and were never distributed separately. Should these items not get an NG like a single page does, or at best get a qualified grade as they are literally incomplete?
  5. Side question, why are inserts that are pulled out of comics (destroying them in the process) like Sonic, MASK, Masters of the Universe, getting grades? Without the associated book, they are essentially incomplete.
  6. Stopped off at a garage sale this weekend and bought a small collection. About 95% are newsstand copies. Mostly, X-men, Wolverine, FF and Wolverine (Not the She-Hulk obviously) Bought the entire lot because I’m trying to finish the DD and 100 pagers in newsstands.
  7. Did you pull those from the most recent batch of 7 packs or 3 packs?
  8. People bring in books there all the time. They buy them then put them out
  9. Here you go! And then there were none. Picked this guy up in the last year and didn’t realize it was the missing link.
  10. As much as I like my Star Comics raw, I love them sealed even more. Too bad the Strawberry Shortcake pack has the last issue reversed.
  11. Found out I bought two of these years ago. (And no, the price on the box isn’t asking lol)
  12. Took me years to find a Peter Porker 5 CPV to complete my run of 1-9 CPVs. It’s fun to collect them even though there is little to no demand for most titles. Foofur is no ASM. Lol
  13. I’ve sold off most of my extras in the past year. Increase in demand for sure. Care Bears 7 seems to be the toughest one to find.
  14. Can I get a 9.8 on the tattoos then?
  15. What is people's stance on pulling inserts out of comics, and getting them graded? I'm seeing a growing number of sellers ripping these out of them out and getting them graded and getting higher prices than a complete comic they came from in the same grade. Previews like MASK, Masters of the Universe, Sonic the Hedgehog. (A CGC 9.8 Sonic insert sells for 125.00 and a Detective 639 CGC 9.8 sells for less than 120.00).I personally don't agree with the practice, and don't think they should get a blue label unless it is a NG (which is done when people send in a page for grading) What do my fellow boardies think?
  16. Rescued this guy from a dollar box today. World’s Finest 284. Date is stamped on.
  17. They were severely allocated. Orders exceeded the 7000. Looks like it’s driving up prices on the earlier printings as well.
  18. The answer to your query is 544 individual issues (not counting stickered variants or second prints like GL 51) I added all the issues listed and was shocked by the sheer amount of these. I have 286 thus far.
  19. I sorted through all the ones I’ve bought over the years, and separated them into their own boxes. Despite having 1 longbox, and 2.5 short boxes of DCUs, I’m still missing over a 100 of them.
  20. Thanks all. I didn’t want to open mine up as I like to keep ‘em sealed
