The letter and story are as collectible as the comics. Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy the Leaders Con reports. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Gene at a show and I’ve yet to meet Jimbo in person.

So happy to knock this one off the list after spending most of the year looking for one. :headbang:  An insane cover, love everything about it.

Weird Chills is such a great name for a horror title, but the summer of '54 was not a good time to debut a horror title. Wish it could have started a year earlier... ah well.

It’s a nice little run to put together without too much trouble. I remember having all three at one point and then selling off the number one. It didn’t feel right having issues two and three only, so I was able to pick up another copy of issue one here on the boards. Now the trilogy is back together and it’s hats on the ice. 🙂

Congrats. Love that date stamp as well.

  3. Just finished reading through this short series of Marvel Feature and the fifteen issues. Not bad. Started strong and then thinned out. I  enjoy the offbeat storylines that often happen as titles begin to wind down. I wasn’t too familiar with Frank Thornes work. Some creative drawings and layouts in there.

Agreed on the brown covers (gray ones too #13). #50 is king of the brown covers though with that awesome green accent in the top left box. :cloud9: #11 is a choice issue as well with two stories inside.

Always love visiting this thread. Great books. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I first posted this over in Silver Age but might as well add it here in comics general:

Horrible news. We all knew it would happen one day as these years ticked by. Thank you Stan for everything. A true giant is gone. One of the things that always impressed me about him was how hopeful and optimistic he was about the world and future of comics. RIP Stan Lee.

  6. Let us end with a bit of a funny one.

Another activity I have done over the years, going back to my days of training for animation in college, is drawing animals from life.

I painted this Indian Rhino at one of my favorite zoos in Florida.

There was an old white cardboard box in the scene that he liked to play with. It did not take much of a stretch to turn it into a longbox.

Comics are for everyone...even armor-plated rhinos in Florida! :)
