JUNGLE COMICS #36 CGC 7.5 Universal, Cream/OW pages. Woman cooked alive / graphic stabbing cover by Zolnerowich! A honey of a book: beautiful black cover, immaculate spine, crisp edges and barely a flake of color missing. There's a faint non-color-breaking center crease visible only in strong light, pressable I would assume. Could easily pass for 8.0-9.0 range as is. (Last spoiler section has raw scans of the book from prior to submission.)
$1100
Back cover:
Raw scans prior to slabbing:I’ll take it 👍🏻

I have the same mindset; only for my favorite covers. That goes for any comic era, not just GA.
Completing an entire run/set would be too exhausting and costly for me.
edit: Planet 41 is one that caught my eye as well!
You all have great eye and good taste.
Planet 41 is top ten for me. Cover has so much going on. Bad guy holding a scalpel/knife and has snakes for hair, a robot busting trough the far wall, Mysta not only strapped to a table but even several pins of her hair “nailed” down. All of this and bunch of colorful snakes busting out of a basket with nefarious intentions.

I've been having a tough time tracking down slabs moderately priced. All the covers I want are always astronomical. Is it just because the vintage Sci-fi aesthetic is desirable among collectors? So far Planet remains the only holdout in my collection of Fiction House slabs.
Binding my time and hoping to find the right one eventually!
All great discussion so far by all about this. Many different factors make Planet the most popular/valued of all the FH titles. Two items to add that haven’t been discussed so far is 1. We do have to admit we live in a cover driven comic world (not saying we all abide by this) and Planet has the most consistent style of cover that seems coveted by collectors. For example, I love me some cool FH Fight and Rangers. Early Fight covers is all about War/girl in distress/spy intrigue. Starting about 49, Fight becomes all about the jungle . Same for Rangers, early Rangers covers all about War/save the girl/spy stuff and then about 41 it goes Firehair and western. My point is Planet is 73 issues of consistent sci fi/ crazy aliens/ girl in distress/ new worlds exploration which in my opinion makes it more collectible as a run than others.
2.They did this genre sci fi better than any other publisher. Others did war, others did western just as good as Rangers/Fight but Planet is tops in this genre of all sci fi GA and that means more people like/collect therefore more value.Cheers
ps. keep the discussion coming. Always fun to hear about colors, certain issue printing abnormalities, etc.

I have long wanted to do this. A photo of the “Big 6”. Always loved seeing these ads in the FH books. Wondering which one I’d pick that month if I only had one dime. Well I finally realized I actually own a “Big 6”. This is from Sept/Oct 1945. What book would you choose if you only had one Mercury dime to spend that month? Anybody else have a “Big 6”?
I’ve wanted to do this for a long time as well. I have come close, but have not been able to own all at one time from any of the “Big 6” front cover reveals on the back cover of FH books. Congrats for owning them all. Sweet to see them all along side each other 🙌🏻

I sold this exact book a couple years ago in order to fund the purchase of another book. I really loved the cover composition (arrow in neck, etc) and coloring of the Lost Valley copy. I missed owning it. I don't know about you, but I seem to miss quite a few that I have let go. I saw the Promise copy of Jungle 60 had similar coloring and went for it a few weeks ago in an HA auction. I bid strong and still got left in the dust as the Promise copy in 9.4 went for $6,600.
As fate would have it, the Lost Valley popped up for sale and I am happy to say it is back with me........for now

Early Jungles are a real joy to hold. Here is my newest Jungle. The first pic below is when I lost it early on in 2021 via auction.
Not too long ago it came back up for sale and I purchased it. Here is the pic from the scan of that sale. The truth is somewhere in the middle when in hand, leaning more toward the second. Either way, it’s a super nice example. As most of you know, I don’t own a scanner. Funny how a simple scan can make a book look more vibrant. I enjoy the middle white background in this one as well as the undeniable Zolnerowich styling. I also like comic backs that sell stuff like toys and trinkets by sending off for them. (Back of early planets, ex Planet 8). This Jungle back is a close second as it’s the same back to Planet 13. Lots of color and fun action on the FH back.
