  1. When I first saw that one in the HA catalog, I didn’t even bid I knew that book was going home with you !!
  2. I think people will pay for Okajima Pedigree books, but the Planet 27 is an outlier as far as setting a standard for multiples of guide. Okajima is cool, not Mile High, IMO 1. If you look at the screen shot of the auction bids shown below, after $3,200 only 3 people bid after that. Bidder (feedback number) 345, 334, and winner 685. It is exactly what you hope for in any auction where you own the book, 2 or 3 duking it out at the very end. 2. I’ve closely watched Planet comics in all venues (cons, dealers, eBay, auctions, etc) for close to 15 years. Not sure if this was a factor for the buyer or anyone bidding but this but this is only the 2nd Okajima Planet I have ever seen. The other was a Planet 64 (CGC 9.2) which I owned and sold to Rick, who sold it to someone else and I saw it sell from that board member in the BST forum here. Each time it sold it did not sell for a Mile high premium. It was not a camp book, the 27 had the Okajima auto on the cover (more coveted style of this Pedigree). All this to say someone(s) May have seen this as a golden opportunity to add a Planet Okajima to their collection and it was now or never. To restate my point/opinion: I think people will pay for Okajima Pedigree books, but the Planet 27 is an outlier as far as setting a standard for multiples of guide. Okajima Planet 27 is cool, I would be proud to own it, but this sale should not be seen as a president.
  3. Thanks. I wish they were white. I would say Cr/OW or OW.
  4. A few weeks ago, someone put up most of the Rangers Comics run on eBay in individual issue auctions. Some of the later issues are still for sale. I missed out on the 2,3, and 21.... but I did get this nice white background cover Rangers 12. Gerber 7 and I agree kinda tough to locate. Anyone else here pick up any from this Rangers run that was on EBay ?
  5. My favorite is Lost World. Mars, god of war might always have the same ending but is entertaining and well drawn on most. Gale Allen is full of 40’s appropriate jargon so I find them fun and worth the read. Mysta of the moon origin in issue 35 is one of my favorites. All the others seem to be hit or miss IMO.
  6. I will list one book that I think is undervalued. All FH collectors seem to chase bold colored covers and usually there is a premium paid for them when they come up. The predominant color to that boldness is Red. I think that Planet 23 is undervalued because I think it should be more coveted due to it being the only Planet cover that has true RED as a base color to the background and therefore you have a greater chance for the red to be bold therefore making the entire book POP. I have seen a few “washed” out 23’s but even washed ones don’t quite approach being fiction house orange instead of red. The green alien on the cover is super cool and very detailed, plus the cover drawn by Zolnerowich. Official submission to the Planet Undervalued List: Planet 23
  7. I think 28 holds its own, the recent 9.2 that sold went for about $1400 more than last time the exact book auctioned. I’ve always thought 19 was a prominent Planet, it seems to always do well no matter condition when it comes up. Just look at that spider on the cover !!! 🕷 I think Rick has a good list posed too. 13 should definitely be on it. I would add these to the short list 10 and 53. As for the undervalued, I might post a list after I acquire a few of them 😜😜😜😜😜
  8. Last year Rick had the Lost Valley Pedigree of this book for sale and I regretted not picking it up. The Lost Valley and this one are the only Jungle Comics 71 I have seen with this bold coloring. I think this copy is a little more red than the LV, but I might be biased
  9. Great idea for a thread. Here is my 14 OW/W.
  10. Recent addition to my FH pile. One of my favorite non-Zolnerowich Jungle covers. Nice colors on this one compared to what I have seen 👍🏻
  11. From what I have been told “none were held out of the auction”.
  12. When Fishler initially bought all the Church Planets, I was told that 65 was not in the group. It could have been sold before this but I doubt it. With all the awesome Planet books why would just 65 and a handful of others be cherry picked out and leaving all the other great ones. It does not exist or at least where it could be proven except if coded IMHO.
  13. Love to see what you got..... Also beyond your list, you have a mid to upper grade 53 ?
  14. Sorry about that, I made you pay a little more. You have yourself a very sweet book there
  15. Planet 38 was the last lot to close in the CC auction. There were 20-30 more Planet lots that started after 38 and ended before 38. Very spirited bidding on this one in CC. I think 38 went higher in CC because 2 or 3 people kept bidding and thought something like “I keep losing other books , I am going to get at least one Church Planet.” This mentality could have pushed it up several more bids. Also, I think it was somewhat “hidden” in the Link auction. These two factors could have played a role in the lower hammer price. 🔨 💵 $6,043 in CC $5,000 in Link
  16. I agree with Scrooge , it’s cruel and near impossible to pick just one.... it’s like saying which one of your kids do you love the most. My favorite FH book changes all the time. Its a day by day thing, so here is my favorite today. v
