  1. I honestly think the QC has gone out the window. My one 20 book submission from October had one book where the case was cracked, it could of happened during shipping. The crazy part is that it was the most expensive book in the whole order. I send it back in to get fixed, then I get it back with a ton of scuff marks on the case that will not come out. My question is, they received a book back with an issue and while it is in QC would they not us a case that isn't messed up with scuff marks that are very apparent when you even look at the case without a book in it? I waited an entire month to get it back. Who has time on our end to keep sending the same book back for the case lottery? It is very frustrating.
  2. Agreed that Spawn would probably lend itself better to be more of an animation than a movie unless there is budget to do a TV show which that would probably be super expensive.
  3. Do you guys think that Spawn as a franchise/IP will take off in 10-20 years where it does crossover to TV, animation, etc? I know its hard to predict, but it makes you wonder considering that this has been a long running franchise and besides a movie and one HBO animation many years ago, it hasn't taken off in other forms of media. I know the Blumhouse and Jamie Fox talk, but who knows if that will happen.
  4. Some of those black and white variants look nice, but it seemed to be overkill. I know in the mid to later half of the #200's they start up again and it gets a bit out of control until they get to around #315-320. Then they tone down the amount of these black and white variants, let alone the second variant issue. I'm just hoping with the upcoming #350 that they do not start up this crazy stuff again with the variants.
  5. For some odd reason I thought it was going to be a part of the Energon universe.
  6. I think since I never read any of the Joe books and #301 was my first one, it had me a bit lost. Don't get me wrong, growing up I would watch the cartoon and also collected the figures. I just kind of felt like I came into the middle of a story with #301. Transformers and Void Rivals has had a whole different vibe than GI Joe in the entire Energon Universe. If this is supposed to be a shared universe, well, GI Joe sure as hell doesn't feel like it is a part of this since there was a lack of a build up like TF was in VR.
  7. I've been picking up all of the incentive ratios for each issue so far and have been doing the same with Void Rivals. Probably a waste of money on some of them, but really do like some of these covers. I did try to get into the GI Joe 301, but just couldn't. I may need to re-read it and see if anything changes.
  8. That has to be quite wild to sell it all cold turkey, unless you really need the money to unload the books. I can see where someone does it and then feels good about it afterwards. Even records at times can be expensive, nowhere near comic books, but depending on what you are collecting. If he found solace with the records and it was cheaper overall, can't blame him there. Everyone collects so differently, and for the most part our generations are collectors while the much younger generations don't care about collecting much at all. It will be interesting to see how things go in the future. I have been taking the same approach you have with the floppies. I won't give them up for nothing and will take my time to sell through my floppies as I transition to omnibus collecting and keeping key floppies and my CGC slabs. The good thing is that I also do sell slabs to help fund some of this hobby.
  9. It is very difficult at times and can feel like a never ending battle. I think what you are doing is smart in having 1-2 issues from your favorite issues, and having those slabbed is a plus. That way you can have that 1 cool and very good book from the series that you enjoy. That is what I am trying to get to eventually. I'd rather have 50 really good books as slabs, than have 40 long boxes of books just sitting there taking up space. Which leads to then picking up the Omnibi and Collections for reading and re-reading stories down the road that I really like. If there is something I don't think I'll re-read, I can always sell that collected edition.
  10. You guys have made some really solid points in this thread. I've done my own soul searching this past year and have come to the realization that we can't hold on to everything and consolidating sometimes is the best course of action. It is one reason as to why I have been turning to Omnibi for runs that I have liked if available, and just get rid of the floppies. If there is a key in that run that I like, I would like to have that book slabbed in a 9.8 for the PC and just getting rid of the rest of the books. I even collect Transformers toys, and those can be some of the worst due to the amount of molds that get reused for other characters that are similar. I learned that it was one thing that got out of hand, I've learned to just now concentrate on main characters and ones that I really like.
  11. Yup, its on break till March. Issue #6 came out today and it was pretty good. It will stink having to wait till March though.
  12. I just had the most weirdest thing happen with one of my submissions. It's been sitting in GEI for almost 2 weeks, and it just a bit ago it changes right to SHIPPED. I get to see all of my grades, then when I refreshed the page to see if any of my other submissions updated, that submission that was marked as SHIPPED goes to back to GEI and can no longer see my grades. @CGC Mike what would something like this mean? 13. I ended up calling late this afternoon to see what was the possible delay and the CS rep did say that the move did delay a lot of things. I bet between the building move and then NYCC probably added to these longer than normal turnaround times of late. I've also had it where once I went to GEI, within a day or so my submissions would go to G/QC and then shipped. Guess we wait to next week. LOL!
  14. I've had several sitting in GEI for over a week now and considering its a holiday week, hoping these get sent out at least next week.
  15. Another excellent Transformers issue. I still have to read GI Joe from this past week.
  16. WOW! that is a lot of mechanical errors. It seems like lately I've had at least 1-2 books per submissions that has had a mechanical error, but this is quite insane for the amount there,
  17. LOL! Yeah, my wife has also given up and doesn't care, but her initial response was hilarious. I've been conscious to cut back though and start to consolidate.
  18. I know how you guys feel. I've turned our bedroom walk-in closet into half of my comic book room. One day when my wife saw one side with a ton of BCW slab boxes overtake her area, she's like what is this....BLEEP. LOL!
  19. I have started taking your approach as I down size with single issues and runs. I'll keep the keys that I have not gotten graded yet and my graded books, but I am moving towards this direction now. I love the thought of Omnibus and being able to go back and read a run via a hardcover collection. There are only 2-3 titles where I will keep the entire run such as The Walking Dead for example, but I am slowly clearing out single issues and runs in favor of going this route. I even have started to cutdown on my weekly new books. So many of the stories being told now is not that good (especially with Marvel moving to $5 a book in January as standard price) and if something turns out to be good, I'd rather get it collected down the road. I had a good 15+ year lapse from comic books, so getting back into it trying to catch up on the good stories I missed out on, I think the Omnibus route has been a good way. This past weekend I ordered Thunderbolts Vol. 1 Omni which had just come back in stock at DCBS and some of the prices on eBay were a bit more than I wanted to pay for it.
  20. So far it has been one great story after another with this. It was like all of the writers and artists were told exactly what they needed to write on and they worked on a cohesive story. It doesn't feel like that at all these days with the stories being told. While I am still getting Batman each month, I'm just planning to go back and read these awesome stories. The Hush Omnibus also just released which is a perfect read after I am done with No Man's Land. I never did read Infinite Crisis and I hear that it is also a good read.
  21. You are really barreling through these. I started the Road to No Man's Land Omnibus a few weeks ago and been reading through that. It is an excellent story, but there is so much to the entire No Man's Land reading that it feels like it takes forever to get through. LOL! I don't have an ETA on my Invincible Compendium at the moment, since I ordered it from OrganicPricedBooks since they have a nice sale going on right now for Invincible books.
  22. Same here. I have 4 submissions that have been sitting in SFG. Usually mine go to GEI within days of SFG, but I bet NYCC has caused some kind of backup for sure.
  23. Thank you! I do have the Invincible 1 facsimile that came out over the summer which I didn't have time to read due to my book backlog. I took a few minutes last night to read it and some really awesome stuff. Since I have watched the TV show, this first issue is adapted to the show. I can't wait to get these compendiums to read through.
