  1. That's why I stated only books pressed by CCS would be noted. They would know 100% for sure the book went through the process. I was not happy when CGC brought CCS into the fold. Grading books from CCS is basically grading their own work. They state that none of this info is know by the graders but they are so closed lip on certain aspects of the process how can you be sure. If the FBI were to come into our hobby hopefully it would be to split the "pressing" departments on both grading companies into a separate entity. In-house work is a conflict of interest period. Keep in mind I have no problem with a pressed book. As a matter of fact if I had a choice between 2 books and both had cuts and wraps alike and the unpressed copy was a weak 9.8 and a pressed copy was a strong 9.8 I would take the pressed copy 10 out of 10 times.
  2. i'm not against pressing and I have no problem with disclosure either. Say CGC made a note that a book was pressed by CCS in the verified label area I would be 1000% for that.
  3. @RockMyAmadeus you were on the CBCS board for a bit as was i. The whole pressing issue is a NON-issue on that board. Heck they celebrate the pictures DiceX posts of some of his results. So are you anti-pressing or just wanting disclosure ?
  4. Yeah that may be correct but CGC was missing Ewert's micro trimming. Where they just missing his or were they missing everyone's (the card guy not Ewert). How much trimming is going on in the card world. Maybe this guy was the one that got focused on and was the one being investigated. Are people cutting cards like crazy and getting a lot of AA cards back from grading?
  5. I love pressing threads it's like watching political or religious arguments. The passion on both sides is commendable. I don't remember seeing any of the big three auction houses listing a book as pressed or unpressed in their auctions. Do they (the auction site)even want to know ? I just assume if a book is slabbed it's been pressed. What I don't assume if a books been slabbed and it's in a blue label it's been cut on, disassemble and cleaned or as had foreign paper or color added to it. Looks like PSA was missing cards being cut on.
  6. This kind of reminds me of the Ewert micro-trimming scandal where someone found a small loophole in the grading process and was able to benefit from CGC missing the work. Sounds like PSA was missing something being done to the cards during their process.
  7. I didn't take many pictures. But these are the few I got. I wanted to take more but lost track as soon as I would leave one table something else would catch my eye.
  8. @comiconxion So where is this email for prepaid tickets I keep my paypal receipt and printed that out hopefully that's enough to get us in. I'm looking forward to this show for sure .

  10. I hate to say this but if this is something that's already becoming an issue between you and your fiance do you really want to invest more time and money into something that's going to take more of your time and money away from your relationship.
  11. Small grail--X-men 94 8.0 to 9.0 Medium Grail---Our Army at War 83 grade not too important just want a tight presentable book Large Grail-----Spider-man 1 CGC 4.0 or so
  12. This book looks like it's slabbed in a magazine case. Probably wouldn't fit into a regular case because of a spine roll.
  13. Just bought 3 tickets online looking forward to this. @comiconxion CGC would be a good add in the future I'm sure. This year at Terry's show the CGC line was pretty intense I was in line over an hour and that was for the quick checkout option.
  14. I haven't been a Walking Dead fan for quite sometime it jumped the shark for me long ago. I will say when I heard this news I was be somewhat concerned. The best selling image book just ended with nothing really close to replace the sales.
  15. I think this seller (even though he made the buyer whole) stayed on the PL list because the people in the nomination thread felt his story was full of holes. Maybe the story is made up maybe it's true. If this seller cares to get off the list there seems to be no way from him to get off the list at the present time. Maybe a vote would work or even some sort of good faith gesture (that doesn't even involve the buyer because of any bad blood)
  16. WOW That place was packed Picked up picked up a pretty good stack of Mags. A whole lot of filler books for my runs And Thanks to @HouseofComics.Com for letting me become the new home for a DC Big Five minor war key There is a "local show" I've been going to for years in November so I won't be going in November but definitely up for another in 2020.
  17. I realized I was going to too many comic shows when my wife and I went to buy a new couch and I tried to "Negotiate" the price of the couch down. @robocard Ed your booth is always good at Long Beach. I've bought something from you every time I go to the Long Beach show.
  18. If anyone can dig up a G.i. Joe 155 vf or so for around guide that would be appreciated also
  19. I'm bringing myself one of my kids and my cousin. First time going back to a bay area show since Steve Wyatt had the last Hayward show I believe it was. Kids looking for Daredevils, My Cousin is looking for Star wars ,G.i Joe and transformers (80's marvel), I'm on the hunt for good Marvel books and I just started buying Magazines again Marvel and Warren so hopefully a dealer or 2 will lug out a few magazine boxes
  20. I've never been charged sales tax at any comic show. On a side note I don't like the fact that the auction houses are now charging taxes in accordance with your home state law. This is creating an uneven playing field and has reduced my bidding on items to zero.
  21. To the OP take your time. Learn a process that works for you. Don't just send in 50 books for pressing and grading them come back and tell us how CGC can't grade. Send it 5-10 books for pressing and grading learn for yourself what can be improved and take notes. Estimate what your grade would be and what you think the page quality is and so fourth. Write it all down in a note book because by the time you get the books back your going to forget what you thought and if you have it in writing you can compare your notes to theirs.
