  1. The 9.8 which looked all the business IMO went for $3,633 = the descent continues as that is a GPA low, though only 5 sales recorded.
  2. Its taken a few years and I think the DCs are a little more insulated than their Marvel counterparts due to rarity in HG; the census numbers have and will continue to swell for BA 9.8s, with pressing and new books coming to market. I think many collectors were their own worst enemy and convinced themselves that BA books in 9.8 were rare. I know I marveled at some of the 9.8 books, but as the parade continued the sheen has definitely worn off.
  3. thought about it, but i just havent been able to bring myself to spend 1K on this book http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7087&lotNo=91011&lotIdNo=25104
  4. http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=7087&lotNo=91097&lotIdNo=44005 As i expected 2K less than in 2011, no it wasnt me, but i think the book was well bought. sometimes patience is rewarded.
  5. Would that make 10 in the census in 9.8? As the numbers swell a bit I believe the price will come down.
  6. As was pointed out earlier this book is by far one of the most common Batman BA keys. It received a bump during the first Bale Batman movie and has kind of hit a plateau since then. I think a copy with a straight spine as it is a bit notorious for a DD 158-style mis-wrap to the lower left 1/4 of the spine, is something of interest. I do love the cover and read my low grade copy every once in a while, but seeing this in 9.8 is not quite earth shattering.
  7. We should see more top end info on Batman 227 at Heritage in a few days time. The Twin Cities 9.8 is up again having sold in 2011 for 6,274. In my opinion, but I will caveat that Bats 227 has the ability to shatter common sense, the book will be hard pressed to reach those levels again. Most of the TC books were over paid for and have seen decreases in the resale market. The subsequent sale of a 9.8 for 4.7K and the increase in the census by 2-3 additional copies, if you count the Oakland, may see the TC hard pressed to reach 6K with the juice. We will see in a few days, but is the 9.8 Oakland still removed from the CL auction? It might be the owner wants to see the TC sell, or feels the sale of that book at Heritage is too close to their offering at CL? I was an under bidder on the Oakland and like a few others dropped off as it approached 2K with the holidays upon us and having bought a DD 2 and a few other four figure books in the fall.
  8. I'm generally Not that big a fan of Perez pre-NTT, but this cover, this one I
  9. Very nice. I actually came to this thread to ask how rare this variant is, and this was the first post that popped up for me. So... um, how rare is this variant, anyway? I checked ebay and didn't find any copies up for sale, and only one sold listing since November. You guys must get tired to tourists like me popping in this thread every time we stumble on a price variant. I have found it to be on the tougher side of average... The price box makes it harder for the normal cherry picker to pull, so less show up, especially nice copies You sir are a variant collector Oh, and I wholeheartedly agree with this statement on the rarity of Mvl Chillers 4.
  10. Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder as they say. The current reboot caused me to stop collecting DD after 25 years or so of straight collecting. As I said earlier I'm about 7 books short of the complete run and even that could NOT compel me to continue. The art has no edge to it and the "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" feel is such a polar opposite to the grittiness that is DD, I had to look away. The story arcs surrounding the whole super criminal organization data leveraging is about a C+ so that was not keeping me around.
  11. Oh, one more thing, my memory might be starting to go, but was it you or Darth that bought that HG DD #1 off Bob Storms a number of years ago for a very good price? I think it was 9.0 or better if I remember correctly. If so then that is 1 of the 2 SA DD keys tucked away
  12. I wondered who I was bidding against on Comic Connect for some DDs - little did I know it was an OS forumite. Rob I was bidding on the #2 and I think, a #5 or #16 (whichever one was a pedigree copy, the other one was at ComicLink that same month) , in the last one. Hopefully, I'll stay out of your hair for the rest of the year. I do have a bunch of books queued up to bid on at Comic Connect and Heritage (I think) so hopefully we'll miss each other in the carnage Hey Rob, hope you are well, its been a while since the old Bronze Age discussions back in the day - kinda miss chatting with you Darth, Rick and Bruce in the BA forum I'm actually almost done, really just have to to an upgrade on my #1 and #7 (I should have bought the Winnipeg and am kicking myself) other than that an issue here or there. On the Ped front I bought a bunch of Oakland's off Vinny back in the day and own a few SA Peds (not a Curator though (thumbs u) Schmidt has been active on the Ped front as well - given my foray into OA I have backed off a bit on SA Marvels, they will still and always be there (FFB and tth2's words, and I now agree with them) Prices were down or stable for the past 2-3 years but have seen a bit of a bump lately though the gaps between 9.2-9.4-9.6 have decreased, which is really the way it should be given what we know about the slivers of differences and ability to manipulate those books. 9.8 BA has also come down to reality again due to swelling census numbers. I also agree that DD is starting to approach an ASM-like level of offerings at auction recently which is curious, probably a few things driving that at subtle levels though I am not complaining. We will have to compare notes after the first quarter auctions and see what your impressions were. I'm close to stepping out of the SA DD Market, not sure how much of an impact that will have on prices, but one less under bidder, or over bidder as it were is never a bad thing.
  13. One more from 2013, maybe late 2012. Purchased from Steve Rubin, this book was only OW, but again the registration swayed me and the whites are a lot better in person. Steve told me they would be and he was right.
  14. Here are two of the DD acquisitions that I have scanned from this year, I also picked up 4 books in RAW HG from Greg Reece in the spring as he bought a collection with some HG DDs. I am now 7 books away from the run, #1 to date. This was my Comic Connect win, there have been a few nice DD #2s on the market this year and I was between 9.2 and 9.0 - just thought this one presented so well. I have owned too many copies of 158 to count, sold them during hype ..... and acquired this copy about a year ago, for one reason and one reason only - QP.
  15. I wondered who I was bidding against on Comic Connect for some DDs - little did I know it was an OS forumite. Rob
  16. Nice book, its too bad about that signature though or I might have pinged you an offer.
  17. Looks like Jack had a set and saved the best for last. Its not a 9.0 but looks lie it might be an 8.0 Kid Colt 205
  18. Yep it looks all 2.0 to me But I have not seen a public sale in the last 3 years on EBAY, if it happened, I missed it.
  19. It seems like X-Mas was a very brisk time for some of the rarer variants hitting the market. A few have already been discussed, but one of the books I was to lose out on was this copy auctioned off by FD - congrats on the sale by the way. (thumbs u TOD 20 It looks like DrewBizz was willing to pony up, but someone was willing to snipe him for more which is probably a tad shocking; had I put down a +400 bid and lost, I would be WWT 15 Drew Snagged this one off Jack who looks like he happened upon a few of the rarer ones, or had them and decided to let them go. I do not believe a copy has been on EBAY in a few years so I'm over not bidding.
  20. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MARVEL-COMICS-30-CENT-COVER-PRICE-VARIANT-KID-COLT-OUTLAW-208-ULTRA-RARE-FN-VF-/281232469557?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item417ac2ee35 … recalculating…... Tempting. Sooooooo tempting. Considering the rather large crease on the bottom right corner of the Raw EBAY copy yes I would imagine it is tempting.
  21. Hey Mike, best of luck in your search, I am a big supporter of collectors putting together a story of OA. I have never seen a page from that book that I recall, though I do recall that story growing up and I can see why its a favorite of yours as I remember it fondly.
  22. I have found a few 35c in the wild and some 30c, just not the harder 30c like the Westerns or the Weirds. My biggest find was a Iron Man 89 for like $10 because it was in high grade.
