  1. I have around 10000 comics and I have finally started cataloguing them properly. I do have a few valuable books but when there is a tingle in my spine it's for books that resonate with me ( or early signs of a stroke) . One of those is Scout. It really opened my eyes to American Indian culture.  The story and art are just stunning.  They are not pricey by any standard but these are books I probably will never sell. Just wondering if anyone else enjoyed this series. They just added something to my perspective of life and living.

  2. Being thick skinned should be a key competency to be a good comedian. And that slap is fodder for great material. I'm sure the late night shows will be thanking the comedy gods for this. Think Chris is going to milk this at his shows especially since he starred in it. And that could be the best revenge or riposte to this episode.

I’ve been saying this for years.

Good luck finding anyone to buy golden and silver age comics when the generations that read them fade away.

Nearly all GA, SA, and BA books are unreadable. Even Chris Claremont’s run on X-Men, outside of Days of Future Past, is really bad.

There are a few serious gems that successfully hold true timeless value in the 80s that I can actually still read. Most notably is Dark Knight Returns and Batman Year One. The pickings are slim though.

I dunno abt that. I still enjoy xmen esp 100 odd to 275. People don't really buy for stories . Some do for nostalgia but don't tell me detective 27 has riveting stories.  It's what they represent.  So long they hold $$$$$ value, demand will always be there.

I'm curious about the Death of Superman pages.  This was such an event when it happened ... mores than the black costume.  I wonder if it will translate to interest now.

This too. Remember the day I was reading it. I was upset. The good ol days when you got upset over the important things.

If Reeves is a Batman fan then he must not be reading the same Batman that the rest of us have been since the 1970 revamp. He does not understand the character based on this movie. It is one thing to quote what your PR staff tells you for interviews that give you the questions in advance. It is another to actually show it with the film you direct.

Don't mean any slight ..I'm sincerely interested why u feel Reeves didn't get the character. In terms of his actions , motivations ? I was not going gaga over the movie like I did for the Nolan films but I did appreciate this fresh take of a younger Bats growing into his role. Seeing it thru that lens helped me appreciate what the director was trying to achieve. Thought the climax was a real let down , this was Batman, albeit a noob who didn't understand the power of Bruce Wayne vis a vis the Batman.

  6. Saw the movie yesterday. I think the 3rd viewing is the best but based on my 1st,  I would rate it on par with Rises : Tied for 3rd best; 4th if we can include Mask of the Phantasm. There were some excellent scenes and I really liked the Tim Sale like vibe. Dark and foreboding.

Pros : Great casting especially Dano and Farrell. Beautifully shot and scored. We get to see a young Bruce Wayne growing into the role. And probably the first time we get to see his inner thinking and rationalising. Points for trying something new.

Cons : Can't believe I'm saying this but it was too long. Definitely  could have made a tighter movie. There were really no outstanding/memorable scenes except for the car chase. No spoilers but 2nd half failed to live up to the 1st.

    Overall 3.5/5.

  7. In this movie ,  Bats is like 2 yrs into his role wearing the cape and cowl. Think the Nolan movies are vastly different in that this is a film noir type detective movie. Definitely the comparisons would  be on who plays Batman better. I expect Pattinson to play an even more sullen Bruce Wayne..Nolan had the previous batman  movies as reference when making his movies. Reeves had the privilege of Nolan's version to know exactly what he needed to do to portray a different aspect of the Batman sstory. Think this is really going to satisfy the cerebral Batman fan.
