  1. I wouldn't say it's necessarily racist. More of a stereotype. But at least it's a stereotype that's positive. And it's a fact that many Asians are in tech. I'm happy he is getting work and even more happy he wasn't cast as Loki instead.

  2. Just wanted to update that I managed to sell my collection (albeit with a heavy heart). As many of you suggested I reached out to MCS and they were truly awesome. They gave a me a great offer. Honestly I was surprised as I didn't think they would be interested. I always rated them but this was next level. They were professional and made an offer days after i contacted them. So just wanted to give a shout out to them.

Ultimately though, I got another offer which was local and saved me the hassle of shipping overseas which would have been an ordeal as I had a few thousand books. Wanted to thank all, for  the advice I was given on the forum. Was rly helpful. I have lots of space now. I'm already looking at buying some tpbs and omnibuses to replace some of the books I sold.

Hello everyone. Just wondering if anyone knows the value of this comic. Its a CGC signature series 9.8 Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1995) Second Printing signed by 9 of the original cast members. Ian McDiarmid isnt on the label. Sent in a request with CGC to get that corrected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Four Color has to be on the list as a candidate, at least.

Serious question,  what's so special.about Four color ? Thot it was an anthology series. Is it because many first appearances were from these books. For me it would be FF or ASM for its impact on comicdom in terms of characterisation and story telling.  That's for American comics. Personally for me, lone wolf and cub ranks among the greatest comic books ever done.

CGC didn't sell him the book.  He can't take it up with them.  If he tried they'd tell him to take it up with the seller.

If the guy feels he didn't get what he paid for, he needs to take it up with the seller, then eBay.  Not in the way he did, though.

    He's not wrong though.  It doesn't look like a 9.6.  But definitely more of a 9.4 than a 7.0.

Biggest problem in this entire event is the mentality of "the experts graded it, how dare you question it".

Not sure how to respond to this. The whole premise of companies like CGC is to provide an Impartial assessment of a book. Many sellers here on the forum do not allow returns for graded books as opposed to raw books. There is a difference. And I really don't think the OP is saying (and he confirmed this) that you can't question the grade.  All he is saying is he has been transparent as possible about the book he has been selling. The buyer has to take some responsibility. Of course there could be damage to the book while shipping but this was not the case here. And to your last point , how many posts have we seen here that pple are unhappy with the grades CGC has given for their books ? I don't remember where CGC allows free regrading. If you can see the book isn't a 9.6 based on the pic posted , then the buyer in this instance should have educated himself to assess better.

"...it is ludicrous to dispute the grade of a CGC comic book."

I'm glad things worked out for you, but I strongly disagree with this.

Don't think the OP is saying that CGC doesnt get it wrong at times but rather that the book has been graded and slabbed by a third party. Any issues with the grade should be taken up with the grading company and not the seller, so long good quality and sufficient pics are posted.

I second this. You'll be given a fair price and be treated correctly. I can't say enough good things about it.

Last year I was trying to sell a collection to help me with both pharmacy studies and a steep vet bill; I was serious enough to consider selling it to a member here who offered $4,200. I hesitated and the potential for the deal soured; eventually another member suggested MCS and I'm glad I listened- MCS gave me five figures, very nearly four times that initial offer. Not saying that'll be the same for every collection but they're also more inclined to buy everything in one fell swoop rather than individual items like a collector would be more understandably interested in. They were very communicative and helpful the entire time.

Thanks. I would most happily reach out to MCS but its the shipping costs that could be prohibitive as I live overseas. But I guess no harm to see if they want some of the books. I have actually searched on their website as a guide to price my books and they don't have stock of some books which I have.

Quite a few of you have suggested getting rid of the drek but I have always wondered if say I have xmen or DD 1-300, and I set aside early and key issues and  break.up the collection,  won't the so called  drek even lose even more of its value? Some of the drek from a completist standpoint are hard to get even though they are not valuable. I remember while cataloguing my books, I had missing issues like DD 253 which was not valuable but I couldn't find it at a decent price and MyComicShop did not have stock for it for the longest time. Eventually they got it and I got a copy.

  8. Thank you all for your comments. Really appreciate it.  I was thinking to sell it off in bulk knowing I will be taking a bit hit. The hope is that there are some out there who want an instant collection of  relatively complete" sets of DD, Xmen,  Conan, Star wars etc . I will probably try to reach out to some local comic shops to see if there are interested.  Was thinking of a ballpark figure of 10k. Failing which I will consider as what many of u have suggested and cut the drek and work on selling the rest.

  9. HI all, I been trying to itemise all my books that so that I can sell it and just limit my collection to a few keys.  I had a excel list but I can't upload as the format isnt allowed so I saved it as a jpg. The resolution sucks but it can be read (i think). Hope it works. I live overseas so selling it is gonna be difficult but I thought I would give it a shot. Would love to hear your views. I was thinking of around 10k but I could be dreaming.  So here goes :

  10. A 8.5 is meant to indicate that based on all criteria used to grade a book , is deemed better than a 8.0 even with white pages. Means that a book even with white pages could not bump up to a 8.5 cause it must have had other defects.

So only 3 things matter , what the book is, the price difference and which quality counts more to a collector.  To me the grade matters more but what the grade is, matters. If it's a 9.8 with off- white pages vs 9.6 with white pages , I am taking the 9.8. If ti's a 5.0 off-white vs 4.5 white, I may consider the 4.5 cos I know there is a market out there for white pages.

i know you said one book, but technically this is:  buy 15 individual CGC-graded pages of AF 15 @ ~ $1K each ... hold.  Liquidate one at a time, each year, starting 10 years from now, over a 15-year period.

    Go ahead, laugh.

Not laughing ( ok a lil bit)  but pls point me in the direction where I can get pages at 1k. For me think u can't go wrong with an AF15 at any grade but for consideration, how about an uncanny x men 1 ? Feel still has lots of leg room.
