  1. Thank you for confirming and I love that recommendation about the cardboard insert between the two. I'll do that. Thank you again!
  2. This thread rocks! Thank you - I'll be exploring this one for sure!
  3. Nice covers! Yes, the request was quite vague but mainly because there's just so much I don't know so I'm actively looking to see what is out there that is beyond my usual interests (like X-men). For example, I came across The Last Ronin a few months ago since I missed the news of its initial launch and absolutely love it. It's also the reason why I need more magazine-sized slabs on my wall to help balance it out haha The type of art/content I'm primarily looking for is something that inspires me to be creative. I'm an illustrator-in-training so I take advantage of nostalgia and amazing illustrations to get the energy going - plus, if I can relate to the comic more so, they can be great conversation starters with people I'm on a Zoom call with. Thank you so much! Love the recommendations and advice.😍
  4. Hello, I started collecting comic books in the 1990's so I'm not as familiar with Bronze Age, but I'm looking to display a magazine-sized slab on my wall. What beautiful / favorite covers do you recommend I check out? In general, my budget is about $500 to spend on this upcoming comic book (ideally a CGC grade of 9.0 or above). Context: I love my comic book wall display of a variety of characters, comic book titles, and comic book publishers. This wall is also my background during work Zoom calls so I'm aiming for kid-friendly and work-friendly - no excessive violence or sexiness. Thanks!
  5. I received my first submission back (about 10 modern comic books) in January (I submitted it in July 2022 with no Express). The grades I received back were very good (including New Mutants 98 newstand cgc 9.8 and New Mutants 87 cgc 9.8) and I used CCS pressing for all of them. Worthwhile? Totally for me... especially since I never rebagged or reboarded my original comics that I've stored the past 30 years. I plan to submit a 2nd batch this year and I plan using CCS for all of them.
  6. Hello y'all - I have a newbie question (I asked in the Signature Room thread but no one has answered yet).I plan to submit one comic for the Alex Ross signature submissions. I'd like to maximize the CGC Shipping Kit box I bought and combine my regular grading submissions in the same box.If I initial the box to show Alex Ross's initials, does that create complications for the CGC staff to separate the Alex Ross submission from the rest of the submissions?Thank you!
  7. The nostalgia on this thread is THICK... oh my... i need to ask my brother if he kept any of his Nintendo Power magazine... i used to collect them all but I think around college age, I had to make room for my 1990's comics (UGH, I know!) and I might have thrown them out 😭 Congrats those who kept theirs or found old ones to buy. They are so valuable now!
  8. I was just researching the first appearance of Judge Dredd and if it was worth investing in... this thread is amazing. Congrats to those with the graded copies (and sales)... this is fascinating to read!

  10. Question: I'm not familiar with Alex Ross but what does his custom label signature mean? Are those two lightning bolts? 🤔 EDIT: nevermind - just read that that's his personal brand logo. Very cool.
  11. I'm sending in my raw Spawn 100 cover that he did. Tempted to also send in my Spawn 301 cgc 9.8... but am worried about the the potential downgrade. (it's an awesome cover).
  12. This is, by far, my favorite thread in the CGC forums. 👏✨ I started collecting Spawn as a kid when the series first launched since I was a Todd McFarlane fan from his Spidey and Venom days. Bought every Spawn issue until early 100's and I would reread these comics frequntly over the years because I really enjoy the art AND the story (can't say the same for other Image comic titles back in the day). Only stopped collecting when I went off to college and found other interests (girls!). Looking back, I should have stay focused on Spawn 😂 wah wah Fast forward nearly 3 decades later, with my comic book boxes collecting dust in my parents' home, I heard about a thing called CGC and decided to buy a few slabs of some awesome Spawn covers and getting overtly excited discovering Scorched and Gunslinger. My goodness, the Spawn universe has leveled up exponentially since I last collected. Since June 2022, I'm now on a mission to not only pursue every Spawn issue, but slab them too. I've transported all my comics from my parents' place to my own and only slabbed a few precious ones from my personal collection so far (just upgraded to Elite this year to make this a bit more economical) but have been dancing with joy to recently get back Spawn 1 and Spawn 77 back as 9.8 grades. I don't have the golden standard quality standards like your original collection (for now hah), but this resurrected, evolved, and EXPENSIVE hobby has been so much fun. I have 223 of the 337 Spawn Series issues as of today... just gotta keep on swimming.... err, collecting I'm learning so much from your reflections on each comic - keep them coming and I will be visiting very frequently! 😍
  13. Thank you.... and wha- $16K!? That's gotta be a typo or someone added a gold bar to that slab Unreal! I would think maybe 10-20 years from now I'd see prices like that... but yeah, most realistically, I'm thinking $3K-$4K will be the most likely price I'll be able to get it at when I choose to let it go.
  14. I'm fairly new to the the CGC community (started collecting slabs last summer) and I just spent the past hour reading this thread Submitted my New Mutants 98 in July 2022 to CGC (at San Diego Comic Con) as part of my first submission batch from my personal collection. After reading how strict CGC is, I didn't expect a good grade. After all, I've have my comics stored in various parts of my homes (including the garage) and I never rebagged or added new cardboard. I felt like I took good care while reading and enjoying my comics, but I had no idea what "near mint" consists of. So I was ecstatic to get my collection back last month... with the 9.8 grade. Whoever my presser at CCS and grader at CGC were - THANK YOU! I thought the blackish print marks in the middle of this cover would be a ding on the grade but i guess not - no complaints here! I also didn't realized I had the Newsstand Edition. Mainly because when I was a kid, I would typically ignore bar coded covers because I find them ugly. I forgot how I purchased NM 98, but I remember why - it was simply to complete the NM series since I got hooked from issue 95 - the X-tinction Agenda storyline was my first entrance into the X-men universe and I loved the collaboration with all the mutants, and was so sad with the death of Warlock. I'm pretty sure I bought NM 98 for $1. So I feel like I won the lottery This comic is the most valuable comic I possess today since I only started collecting comics from the early 90's. And then I stopped when I went off to college in 1998. It's been a WILD adventure collecting CGC comics and slabbing my personal collection from last year and I look forward to building up my slabbed collection for the rest of my life (and then hand it all to my kids). With that said, I don't plan on keeping this issue for the long-run. I absolutely love Ryan Reynolds in the films, but the cover art (those LEGS) really bother me haha I'm thinking of waiting until there's more hype for Deadpool 3 but who knows, maybe there will be a comic book price bubble bursting beforehand. We shall see!
  15. I'd like to buy this if still available. This is my first time buying from the CGC forums - so please excuse my newbie experience - please tell me what next steps are. I'll be sure to read up too in the meantime. Thank you!
  16. Thanks for the prompt reply! Appreciate it. I guess I'll go ahead with submissions then.
  17. Hello! I have quite a few Marvel cards I'd love to get graded by CGC - but before I submit, I was wondering if there are pressing services for comic book cards? Or is that considered taboo/improper? Context: I absolutely loved CGC's pressing services for my comic book submissions so was hoping there'd be something similar for cards - if not now, maybe in the future?
  18. Oh nice! Thank you @ADAMANTIUM - that gives me hope! I'm honestly fine with a 9.4 grade - this is for my personal collection - I just wanted to be sure services I paid for actually happened
  19. Thank you @bobotski that was my first post - appreciate the guidance - I'll follow-up there! If I'm reading this right, @ADAMANTIUM - since it only took one month (vs. 6 to 8 weeks) to grade after signature... that means the pressing was probably skipped?
  20. I submitted my comic for a Frank Miller signature. Got a status update that he signed it on July 23rd. I assumed it was going to go to CCS pressing and then grading... which would take several months (I didn't pay for Express). But now I got a notification that the grade was completed on August 24th (got a 9.4). It has grading notes... and it is now being "Shipped" on Sept 12th, 2022. Did CGC/CCS quickly press the signed comic AND graded the comic or did they skip the CCS Pressing that I paid for?
