  1. The late seventies were great for buying comics. They were everywhere. In Middlesbrough and Stockton there were plenty of places that had an excellent selection. Happy days.
  2. +1 They helped ruin the LCS industry over here along with ebay.
  3. Warrior #1 is a great magazine/comic. I remember it coming out. It's not that rare over here and copies can usually be found on eBay UK for $10-20. The Marvelman Special is rarer and caused the trouble with Marvel Comics!
  4. For some reason it seems there are a lot of people (including me) who had plenty Marvel UK issues but they either didn't keep them or lost them along the way. Wonder why us Brits did this with the UK and not the US issues? It can't just be down to the fact we knew they would never be of much value. Spider-Man Weekly 1 with free gift went for over £160 on ebay over the weekend.
  5. Kevin, Garry - yeah I should've been tougher but i was just relieved I got the books at all. WTTB's to the noobs. Stick around - this is the best thread intown. (Apart from Gators Silver Surfer replica in comics ge real and the Cap shie.d in the comic room thread) This Milan Barca Game is boring.
  6. Yeah, I think he will come good. I was charged £4.50 postage recently for three comics (after I insisted I would not pay £9!) er sent them in a plain brown envelope and no backing for 65 p postage through his works post! Comics were ok though so I felt I could only leave neutral feedback. Nobody has bought a comic from him since.
  7. Great result +1 (thumbs u You mean the sewing machine?
  8. People at my work know I like super hheroes - got a mmarvel t-shirt from my secret santa. But they do seem surprised when they find ut collect comics - they must think of the movies I suppose.
  9. Latest between McFarlane and Gaiman. Linked via Gaiman's twiter account. http://slovobooks.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/neil-gaiman-and-todd-mcfarlane-story-so.html
  10. Nice bump. Not seen this before but know there are a lot of fanzines that were published like this one. This was produced just up the road from me.
  11. Didn't see their name. Also had TTA 92 slabbed I think plus some nice silver age and bronze minor keys. Their fifty pence boxes were all messed up - no alphabetical so I didn't spend much time looking through them because of the chaos. Ha
  12. Well the Leeds mart was ok. Didn't buy much - a few Miracleman and a couple of Warrior mag. Saw Henry there. Silver Acre and the usual suspects were there. The 50p bins at every stall were junk of course but usually I can find something in there but didn't get thing from this time. One stall had a nice AF15 cgc4.5 but it was £4200 which I didn't have on me so I passed on it
  13. Only been to the Newcastle mart which is tiny. Andrew and another friend sometimes sell there. Leeds is bigger and i imagine the others in the bigger cities might be better too. Nothing like last weeks efforts in the capital though.
  14. Anyone going to the Leeds Comic Art tomorrow? Haven't been to a mart in Leeds for about 22 years so should be interesting.
  15. PCC - speedy recovery for your Dad Reckon you didn't miss much - everyone said it was rubbish. Glad I didn't go
  16. Hope this helps David Lloyd Thanks for the link (thumbs u. Weird though, because it gives David LLoyd a cover credit for Warrior # 11, but according to Dez Skinn who is selling a NM copy on ebay, the cover was by Gary Leach. Confused.com That is confusing but I suppose Dez Skinn would be in the know Yep, exactly what I thought, oh well, I'll think of something. Cheers. Well my comic software collectorz also says David Lloyd as the cover artist, and it is a V cover, so I am gonna say Dez is just mistaken on this one Ps. Its a great cover - I remember it when it first came out
  17. Yeah that one is the prestige format issue - the plain edition had a different cover. I remember summer1989 - bat an hype was everywhere - I just couldn't wait to see that film
  18. Shame - it would be nice to be able to block out silver acre from search results
  19. Is there a way on ebay to ignore sellers in your search queries?
  20. Did you buy those Daredevil comics? nope never heard back from him, im after a lot on ebay now 5500+ comics and tpb's, started £500, BIN is £700, asked for a list, collection only from Liverpool so has to be worth it Is that the lot from silver acre? Wouldn't trust him - probably all indie junk and a handful of marvel.
  21. PM me and let me know what you have available (thumbs u Neil
  22. The re-imagined cover are a nice bonus with the Marvel's Greatest Comics and Marvel Tales picture frame books. Gil Kane and John Buscema both drew a lot of great covers in that era. But for whatever reasons, their re-imagined covers were pretty weak in comparison to their other work and the books' original covers. However, at the risk of saying something blasphemous, I think the cover of Marvel's Greatest Comics #37 is an exception. I like it more than FF #50. All just my opinion, of course. I agree except the Watcher looks more like a minder or a heavy - he was never that muscly.
