  1. I have been a dealer there a few times! What do you want to know?
  2. What incentive would they have to carry it over to the new system when they can just make you buy it again? In my opinion the best emulation process was the Wii and the Wii U's Virtual Console system. You could even back up the games on San Disk cards if needed. The games are also extremely affordable. Paying five dollars for an NES game is cheap in my opinion...
  3. You may have to settle for a Wii U then...Sony has stated they may implement a similar system. This is the future. Those that dislike Nintendo may soon find that they are the only true gaming company left. I feel sorry for those that bought a PS Vita right now. The lack of games is killing that system and I really enjoyed Uncharted. Not quite. The Wii-U is an absolute disaster, and developers have no interest in making games for it. It's about 4 years too late. Even with these changes to the Xbox and PS4, Nintendo is in big trouble. They are out of touch with third parties, as evidenced by the Wii's atrocious software line-up. People will buy the console that has games, and the PS4 and Xbox One are where the games are. If this used game thing turns out to be a costly mistake, all it takes is a system update to fix it. Nintendo needs a new console to fix its problems. And btw, for the first time in the show's history, Nintendo will not have a conference at E3 this year. The reason? Because it will be a colossal waste of time and money considering they have NOTHING to show. That's huge. Hello COI, To be fully honest (even as a dealer), I could care less one way or another. Keep in mind the 3DS was also called 'dead on arrival.' I am just curious if all those 'outraged gamers' who are upset over the whole 'pay per play' used software issue are still gong to supposedly boycott these systems when they see the new 'insert favorite franchise game here.' I can tell you however, that if it is in their business plan to charge for used game use, they will not opt to replace it. They would if anything just lower the cost. Microsoft is all about control. This move is hardly surprising and Sony has been known to play follow the leader all too often... If it is truly called PS 4 shouldn't I be able to play a PS 2 or PS 3 game on it? I can see dropping the PS One emulation, but come on; are they building a brand or not?

  5. Sorry but you have been misinformed. You do not need to be online all the time and you will be able to buy used games. http://www.theverge.com/2013/5/21/4352542/xbox-one-always-online-not-required-used-games-work Let's begin at the beginning. Will it be backwards compatible? No, confirmed thus far by Gamespot. Of course, this is the same site that announced it will require an Internet connection before the press release. Will there be a fee for used games? Unclear, but looking to be that way. This means the preowned market is severely limited on this console. Either way it won't matter. I won't buy or sell it...oh wait, as a dealer I may not be able to...no loss! MS has confirmed that it will not be backward compatible. Which is no big deal to me. I was excited that the 360 was able to play some of the first Xbox's games and then I never played any of the first gen games. I know for some people this is important, but for me it's not a big deal. I'll still have the the 360 in the house so if I want to play an old game I'll be able to. Old games find their way to the system. I downloaded the first Haol game to the 360 when it was released. I also found an old PS1 game Vigilante 8, and downloaded that. So the old discs may not work, but if the game is popular it will find it's way to the system. I think we need to wait until MS tells us what the cost will be for a used game before we determine how much it will hurt places like Gamestop. Also correct me if I am wrong but isn't Sony talking about the same thing with used games? I like the ability to load the game to the hard drive and then and then never have to put the disc in to play the game. I am going to guess that you will be able to purchase a game on the MS Live and download it to the machine. That is something I would use. I know they have a deal with the NFL, but not sure what that entails. I also want to know more about watching TV through the Xbox. I may be able to send my set-top-box back to Verizon. Finally live action Halo TV show. Problem is, per GameSpot: All those downloaded Xbox Live games you have will NOT transfer to the new system and you will need (thus far) to allow the Xbox One access to an internet connection at least once a day. This is very sad news in my opinion. I will not be buying. Then again, if it wasn't for the 60 GB backwards compatible PS3 that I bought two of brand new; I wouldn't own a PS3 system either...
  6. What happens eight years after the life span of the console and the next Xbox...err...Xbox Two by Microsoft's numbering...is not backwards compatible? Do you use those $50 games as coasters?
  7. Sorry but you have been misinformed. 8. A system that requires constant Internet connection? No thanks... What happens to all those games once they pull he plug on the system six to eight years later? I remember the controversary when they pulled the plug on Xbox live for the original Xbox. Better hope the next Xbox is backwards ompstible...and they do not lock out used games. SORRY, Microsoft, but I will stick with Nintendo. Edit: No backwards compatibility either...?
  9. G4 still exists? In theory. They are running a lot for re-runs and other stuff...
  10. This is NOT always true. In fact a lot of collections (i.e. in the antiques and collectibles spectrum as a whole) have been ruined as a result. There a lot of different plastics on the market and stating that all are inherently acid free is incorrect. If this were the case companies would not make acid free bags. Kind Regards, 'mint'
  11. The plastic corrugated boxes from Bags Unlimited are pretty good. They are acid free, but as pointed out previously, you still have to use acid free bags as well (and I am referring to both CGC and raw comic books).
  12. Fire Emblem and Luigi's Mansion on the 3DS are taking most of my game playing time. I was in the hospital recently and couldn't wait to go home and play my 3DS (yes, I know the irony as it is a portable system). Got to love Nintendo. No matter what the critics say (in my opinion) , they still make the best games. 'Mint'
  13. Didn't Nostradamus have a quatrain specifically devoted to the WD bubble bursting? I think we have to consult the ancient tomes.... Yeah he did, but the last half of it has to do with the end of the world so I hope the WD bubble doesn't burst anytime soon. Don't worry...the television series has to be cancelled first. When that happens, start to worry. Until that time, just enjoy the ride!
  14. Am I the only one who thought this movie was under-rated? Great movie in my opinion...I thought it was creepy though, especially certain scenes... Sorry to change the topic, but that was cool...
  15. I know enough about antique glass, but as the old saying goes, too much knowledge can be dangerous. The main reason why I skip over glass and "breakables" is the shipping aspect. I could off-load to local shops and a few pickers I know, but unless we're talking a piece of significant value, I generally would rather just let them know when I find one in hopes they do the same if they find something of interest to me. Have you tried buying and selling through vetted auction houses that specialize in high end glass; or trying to place the items in high end antique malls? This would help you avoid the shipping aspect. just a possible suggestion. I gained a lot of knowledge just be reading the Encyclopedia of Glass. It was required reading from one of my mentors. He always told me if you coukd make it through that book and still have an interest in glass, I must really like glass. I recommend this book to anyone starting out in glass. Use it as a reference, but know going in, it is an 'encyclopedia' and not an exciting read. Another option is as you mentioned, 'partner' with other dealers and share knowledge or trade. I get a ton of video game collections come summer flea market season , as a result of this.
  16. All those 'wonderful' television shows that we love amd watch (i.e. American Pickers, Pawn Stars, Tpy Hunter, etc.) have started massive speculator booms in certain areas not once thought of. I will not go off on a rant...but... Never before have I seen so many new inexperienced individuals with no interest in the objects they are buying; scoping out flea markets, auctions, and the like. This is also causing a massive price hike in certain collecting fields that cannot be maintained. Even 'soccer moms' are buying cases of Lego sets for future 'investment.' Now is the time to expand your knowledge base, if you want to learn new fields. Specialization can help. I make a ton of cash in antique glass, because newbies don't generally have the patience or understanding to learn this market. My best advice is to hang in there and create a 'brand.' Over time, people will come to you with their collections. As I stated before, I do little advertising and still buy three to four video game collections a week. You can also collude with other dealers in your area to make it difficult for newbies to enter the game. This happens more than people realize. Even though I hate to admit it... Kind Regards, 'mint'
  17. I honestly think this is an over-hyped book. Then again, I waited to start my collection of Batman 'keys' for last (and I am at that point now). If I can get this book for between $1500-$1700 in 9.4, I may consider buying. If not, I will wait for price levels to drop. I don't consider a book with a cover re-created (for lack of a better term) from an earlier book to be that much of a must have book in my opinion...regradless of how cool that cover is! Respectfully, 'mint'
  18. Let's not forget that he ALSO mentioned during his econ lesson that he was also the proud owner of the first Luke Cage 1 9.8. So, you know, at least he is consistent at flushing his money down the toilet. Funny that the Econ professor is the one with the worst grasp on the subject. I feel sorry for his students. From a person who hates emoticons... Respectfully, 'mint' PS 'Greater fool theory' at it's finest...
  19. Hello ComicWiz, It should be noted though that most of those collections shown on 'Toy Hunter' and the like (most, not all) are not in the best possible condition. One thing that I think is important (and from seeing your collection and from the conversations we had); you like me, value quality. I personally am much more appreciative of the fact that it can take me a very long time to find an AFA graded 85 (with all 85 or higher sub grades) 12 back vintage Star Wars figure; rather than just go out a buy a carded 12-back for the sake of owning it. In conclusion, despite its flaws (and all reality based collectibles shows have these same flaws) I enjoy 'Toy Hunter' a great deal and am very glad that Jordan got a second (and hopefully third) season. I also enjoy 'Collection Intervention,' if only due to the fact that it serves as a not so well disguised attempt to tell collectors the true value of curating their collections and the importance of long term storage (not to mention insurance). These issues are VASTLY overlooked in our 'have to have it now' culture. While I personally would never appear on any of these kind of shows, the fact that the 'toy collecting' hobby is getting this type of attention it deserves is great in the long run. Respectfully, 'mint'
  20. Thanks for the suggestions. Ive been watching tons of video game videos for about six months, so I have ran across a few DC game reviews, but I really don't know the library well at all. I saw a cool looking game called "IllBleed" im gonna check out too, along with Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Adventure 2, Resident Evil: code veronice, blue stinger, etc Thanks again What about: Cannon Spike, Mars Matrix, Power Stone (1 & 2), and Skies of Arcadia?
  21. That might be the case now - at least in our little CPR flipping community - but I can guarantee that that was not the case back in 2000 with the general collecting populace. Actually, the generally collecting populace had no idea what pressing was, and for the most part, they still don't know what it is. Most who do know don't care. Most books I knew about back in the day that had been "cleaned and pressed" were not dry cleaned, but actually chemically washed and pressed back to dryness. And that is alot of the stigma that was initially associated with pressing. This goes back to CaptainOfIndustry's saying that hobbies are much more enjoyable when the collector is uninformed. How about "hobbies are much more enjoyable when money is not a factor." How much is that FF #50 CGC 9.4 you have listed on your site, again? Seemed like a good time to ask?
  22. Every dog has its day. Ironically it should be '64' not '65.' I just corrected it. !
  23. I'm sorry, but this is so undeserved. It's pretty clear that you don't know who you are 'talking' to on these boards. If so, you might not be so confident in your 'expertise.' When it comes to the hobby we talk about on these pages most of the time, I'll take Moondog's opinion over yours any day. OPINION duly noted. Moondog is truly an expert in the field of comics and one who is very well respected. He's also a very bright, thoughtful and kind person, overall. As stated before. I do not doubt that Moondog is very knowledgeable in the field of comic books. The issue at hand however, was that we were talking about comparing the subject of 'pressing' to what occurs in other collecting fields. I have commented about this multiple times throughout this thread. The comparison of currency (i,.e paper money) is a very bad one (with no offense taken to Moondog or anyone else who brought this issue up). As I have previously stated by citing various examples as to what goes on in other collecting fields; when you 'press' paper money you are actually 'damaging' it by causing a true loss of embossing (raised inks) that can never again be regained through any means. This is why grading companies have established the 'EPQ' and 'PPQ' designations. PMG uses 'EPQ' and PCGS Currency uses 'PPQ.' It should be noted that both grading companies do have different grading standards. For instance PMG (owned by the Certified Collectibles Group) will NOT grade a piece of paper money higher than a '64' that does NOT have 'EPQ.' PCGS Currency on the other hand, will. Personally, I prefer PMG's approach as it ensures that those who engage in such a practice can only be rewarded to a certain degree; should they wish to use their grading services. Respectfully yours, 'mint' Edited to add: Happy Thanksgiving to all! And to correct my number! It should be '64', not '65' in respect to how high a piece of currency can get graded by PMG without requiring 'EPQ'. Sorry!
