  1. Pretend CGC says it's 9.8 and CVA says it's exceptional... Can we trust them? Do we need a 3rd grader?
  2. Set: J. Scott Campbell Covers Spawn #300 (2019) Variant Cover M Cert #: 4127183001 Slot added per request 1/13/23
  3. Underestimating books with negligible handling/manufacturing defects. Mostly books with bindery tears/white line down spine. Not the prettiest, but many ended up 9.8s.
  4. When labels get retired, you're left with mismatched slabs. Some of the labels match the cover (i.e. Spawn #1/Lethal Protector), but I avoid them otherwise.
  5. Mechanical errors seem to be taking a long time. Had stuff that arrived last month, still not in the system.
  6. I got one back from signing (originally universal) with bent pages... Sent for ME, curious to see how it goes.
  7. I'm guessing if it's not left CCS, we're in the pool for the next signing.
  8. Meant submitter wouldn't crack it out (otherwise breaking chain of custody).
  9. Hypothetically if one were to resubmit a 9.6 yellow label, would they re-grade it without knowledge of previous grade? Obviously can't crack it out.
  10. Ordered one of these a couple days ago, definitely better than the cardboard contraptions I was using.
  11. I'd get the Spawn #1 label on my Spawn #1, or the Lethal Protector label on my Lethal Protector. Don't have to worry about the style matching, because the cover is mirrored on the label. Paying $20-50 across dozens of slabs, for a 58 day turnaround and risk of defects... just isn't worth it though. I have a few with the retired Spidey label and they don't match the others.
  12. A couple of my favorites from the Campbell signing. Didn't leave notes, but he did a killer job matching all the sig colors.
  13. I noticed my submissions for the McFarlane signing were listed as "Received by CCS" a couple days ago. Is there a way to tell which signing batch we're in?
  14. With the turnaround time being 59 days, I personally wouldn't. In my experience the custom labels only induce OCD when they don't match the rest.
  15. I honestly have no idea... The front of the cover/casing looks fine. Maybe it's spacer paper or something? The newton rings are preferable even though she looks like she's sitting in a puddle. Also worth noting both were supposed to be pressed.
  16. Sent two to make sure I got 9.8. One got newton rings, other got bent pages.
  17. Sketch cover done by Sabine Rich. One of my favorite slabs.
  18. Feels like 50%(+-) of my books are either getting debris, newton rings, or hair in them. Some are on their 2nd-3rd reholder... With the turnaround times, definitely caught in a loop.
  19. For sure! 11 separately would be pricy. In hindsight I'd have combined more, but when it got close to deadline I actually had a couple sellers just throw my slip in their box and send it to Sarasota.
  20. I submitted in batches of 3-4. Some of them I chose to submit at later times. Didn't want to send more than 4/box.
  21. Sent 11 books for the Campbell signing. 8 out of the 11 have been shipped or are already here. Last 3 are in G/QC.
  22. If in doubt, you could always just pay the fee to get it reholdered. At best, they give you a new case without the weird sticker. At worst, they regrade it and you lose 0.2-0.4.
