I just sold my wd 53 on the boards for 35 guess no one was paying attention here.
I think the Next modern books to heat up are cap 6 vol 5 and cap 14 vol 5
I stocked up on both covers for like $2 each about a year ago. Id have to do some serious digging to find them at this point but would be awesome if they took off
-
Nice! Congrats. This is going to be the book to have for this series (other than the rrp). Only 1000 printed. If you think about it, thats just double the print run of the saga RRP. Plus, its my favorite cover so far in the series. Cant wait for mine to get back from cgc.
Yep I love it so much I have 18.9% of the print run

#6 was good.
There was one fight scene I would have liked to seen but I can draw my own conclusions on how it all went down.
Crystalized Gorillla Returns!
For sure! I actually fist pumped on the last page.
Cant wait for issue #7 but .....I know I know, might be 6-7 months from now. Such an awesome book
-
I also think it would be terrible if they just had this one issue ready to go and the another 5-6 month delay for issue #7.
Looks like you were close with this statement seeing as #7 is not scheduled until January 2014.......
That is true but sounds like its for a good reason
-
#7 is due Jan 8th. For those who aren't thread crapping or don't know yet there is a new artist on board. Emi Lenox.
That is great news! Im cool with the January delay as Im hoping this will get the book back on track
-
Finally... I really hope they start getting into a regular rhythm now; I'd hate to see this book disappear, one of my favourite reads.
Im with you on that! Im not asking for what Todd did with issues back to back to get caught back up but at least a 4-5 week schedule would be KILLER.
I also think it would be terrible if they just had this one issue ready to go and the another 5-6 month delay for issue #7. I am hoping they have a few issues in the bad ready to rock

Anyone taking odds that Oct. 16th will come and go without a 6th issue?
I got an e-mail from Midtown saying I've been charged for my NWM #6 order. I had forgotten all about it. Hopefully, since they've charged me, it will come out.
My preorders were charged, my midtown order was charged, and my LCS has it on the pull list for me Wednesday......its safe to say its coming

Book is on fire!!

agreed. meeting her at AA last year was a highlight for me
I thought Alcoholics Anonymous was supposed to be .... anonymous
-
Interesting...
I thought the issue was fantastic not to mention we got an answer to a pretty big secret [iMO its big]. I do agree its a set up issue but some real good tid bits in there make it an issue to have
I also loved the scene of the first few pages. Madder is freaking awesome

Personally, I like the Phantom program as it gives me a chance to approach some artists I'd love to work with and gives me the confidence that retailers are actually going to support the variants. Plus, they are still relatively low print runs that help us but keep the books rare.
Though the book is doing well, we can still use the kick that Phantoms give us. Larry and the crew have been instrumental in helping us keep afloat, and certainly there will come a day or month we don't do a variant, but I find it far superior to retailer incentive variants that don't really help us and I tend to think are kind of exploitive.
Well there you have it! If its truly helping than Ill keep buying. You and Larry have made valid points so (thumbs u

The Phantoms have helped this title immensely in my shop.
How are they hurting?
( it's not like there are a lot of variants on this particular title)
If there are a bunch of variants on a book , I get the criticism, but if there's only one, whats the problem?
Sorry my friend I mean no disrespect and as you know Ive purchased a good amount of phantoms and a bunch of this very title
I just feel that after the first few issues to help get the word out [which we can agree that it did] that there is no need to continue making multiple covers [of any kind]. A special one here and there is cool but after awhile I just see no need. For example say issue 12 and issue 24 to celebrate 1 and 2 years would be cool AND special.
Just my .02 but Im just one of thousands....not the end all expert on the matter.
-
As much as I like this phantom cover and as much as I like Larry [i know some of you don't no need to go there] I hope no more phantoms are done for this title.
No need to keep doing variants with an awesome book like this and I think they will just hurt it at this point. Just my .02 take it or leave it

What an absolute freak..
I don't get it. What exactly is the problem? [other than the terrible way he takes care of this comics]
Serious question, I don't understand why there are a few negative comments?
School me dudes

Its been the 16th for a bit now. Check a few pages back for the Image solicit pic

Ill try to get a pic to you when I get home. I think possibly a larger bubble envelope would definitely help, and possibly Magazine sized bag/board (I think the one you used was Golden Aged, right?)
Also, many people ship between two pieces of cardboard cut slightly larger than the book/bag/board...this tends to make all the difference.
All in all, I think the packaging was just a little too tight of a fit.
Also, I hope you know I'm only weighing in because I love the book and I'd like to spare you the wrath of any future angry collectors Returns can be a headache.
Again, awesomebook! My kids are enjoying it at home right now, well done sir!
Thanks for chiming in guys! I will definitely look into thicker cardboard for packing.
On my end I was nervous of charging too much for packing/shipping. $1/book seems reasonable. $2-3 seems like it could turn people off.
And it currently costs $2+ to mail. Secret drawback to cardstock covers and 50 page comics...
Happy to hear you enjoyed it though! It only gets better:)
This is where the importance of collectors comes into play...I think most collectors would gladly pay $3 for proper shipping. I wouldn't be too scared about asking that if I were you, especially considering the high quality product you are producing. $3 is pretty standard for 1-2 properly packed books. My 2¢.
I agree. Raise the shipping price and spend the extra time packing correctly. Will go a long way IMO
-
Got mine in the mail today, very cool art!
Unfortunately, the book was damaged along the spine, probably due to the fact that it doesn't really fit in the bag and board it was shipped in
I can see this being an issue with collectors. I know the artists primary concern is not collectors, but nonetheless collectors make up a sizable part of the market.
May want to consider an alternate means of shipping (thumbs u
Cool book though.
I ordered 5 copies and 3 out of the 5 got minor dings from just being tossed in an envelope. Could have been MUCH worse being shipped like that so I consider myself lucky
-
I really didn't think I would like this [even though I really enjoy PP....ok that sounds weird ] but I gave it a shot.
I am in it for the long haul and cant wait to see where this is going.
Another winner Kurtis!

i knew you werent talking about the RRP
there are plenty of options for EoW #1, i'd go with RRP, FP, Ghost, then basic
Why does the FP bring more than the Ghost issue ? Is it a print run issue or what ?
IIRC the FP variant has a print run of 1000 and Ghost is 5000
Thanks, that is quite different from what I was expecting and also means the regular cover sales are fairly consitant from issue 1 to issue 6. Do you have any idea what the blank cover #4 print run was in total.
I haven't been able to find a break down on that yet. Im betting it in the 15k range though judging by the other issue sales break vs. jump for issue 4
-
poo poo on Saga...East of West is where it's at. Just waiting on the Syfy or BBC show news.
I would take EoW over Saga any day but I sure am glad we have both :-)
-
also in that one splash page near the end, the other rangers were wearing the same thing....did they all kill judges.
They killed all the judges, politicians and whores
of course if they killed the judges, and are wearing the official judge visors...then they probably see themselves as judge jury & executioner.
I'm seeing this as Hickman's version of
Judge Dredd
You guys hit the nail on the head and exactly how I see it.

Even though we probably knew this already ....after watching that interview I think its safe to say that ES is not the issue with how late this book has been.
Hopefully the new artist coming on to help will keep things flowing better
