  1. speaking of titles I liked, why you guys no speak about burn the orphanage.

I preordered 10 copies 2 months ago and the store I get my pulls from didn't do my pulls last week. They had 3 copies left for me!

Anyways, it should have potential because

    1. video game tie-in

    2. creator cross north america tour

    3. it sold out before hitting retail

I'm just going to post this picture because its what I'm thinking about right now

Yeah but Jimmy, I was rareing for it too, but it's awful, 9 out of 10 comic readers agree. I have copies too, but I think they may have to be used to handle my ferret's poo...oh it looked good, preview tight, talent tight, sold out before it came out....then you read it, and kept saying to yourself...this might be an in joke, but it doesn't really make sense to me. Sorry mate, you can't polish this turd. But be careful as the paper is like fingerprint ink pad...don't touch it....

Terrible book. If it takes off I will be down right shocked. Pure garbage

  2. I couldn't wait. I went to LCS earlier today, took a break and read issue 5. WOW ! Great character development. It caused me to look at almost everyone (with a couple of exceptions ) differently. I thought the book was great already but it just got better. You guys were right. I'm going to re-read 1 through 5 tonight !

#5 was great in its poetic beauty. Then Gerard's Theorem was inserted slyly....

Who is this Gerard you speak of? Is he related to Girard? hm

  3. The one thing of note re: sales is that most (if not 90%) of retailers were under the impression that Five Ghosts was a mini series whilst ordering issues 4 & 5. Yes, that doesn't necessarily account for all of the slide, but I think it was definitely part of it.

Many people still aren't aware of the ongoing status. We're hoping to remedy that with a press release soon.

Keep interacting here Frank as that certainly helps.

    You da man Frank!

  4. :hi:

I've just read a lot of board postings of their business practices no matter the book. Slow, high shipping, and not filling orders correctly. Capitalism is a great thing, stop giving them business they will be left with 2 options - either start becoming reliable if someone buys 5 ship 5 simple or go outta business.

Live and learn. I learned and moved on.

  5. .
    think he means withdrew

hah, actually I typed 'ordered' and Samsung changed it apparently.....I haven't received a DF slab yet, all have been canceled after 6 months or so. Mine were all charged right when I placed the order.

I ordered 10 slabs once. Got charged for all 10 and the book took off. A week later the box arrived with only half my order and in pen marked to reduce my order. The best part is they still charged me shipping for all 10 slabs and a great price of $90

So basically they had the stock [and then some according to their site], the book took off, someone noticed it and cut my order in half and then raped me on the shipping.

I checked my CC again once the slabs arrived and they did refund and re-charge for the half order plus full ship. I sent a F U letter and about a week later they fixed the shipping rate which at least they did that.

Not the end of the world but if I wouldnt have complained they would have made out like bandits on the shipping

  6. On the other hand, any serious increase in interest in pre-unity Valiant will send things crazy. It's a big IF but not out of the question. I would not sell my H1 9.8 right now, I only see upside.

I have nothing to add other than I cant agree more. Unless you really need the money I wouldnt be selling right now

  7. E.S. said NWM will get an Image Firsts release. I am pretty sure the next round of Image Firsts will release before the TPB. And with the way it is going maybe release before #6.

That's nice, but what color will it be?

I cant help but laugh at this. I would die for a Gold embossed NWM #1

  8. If you were meaning me and you were reading insults in my posts when I use the word "speculator" then you put them there because it didn't come from me. :)

I expect nothing less than feet stomping in this thread since the last god knows how many pages have been full of it. But mummy they said it'd be out every month!! Where's my comic book?? It's not FAIR! Wahhhhhhh!!

Wasn't directly towards you. I would have quoted you and called you by name. Keyboards don't scare me ;-)

With that being said...it was your posts that got me to speak up as its [taboo/speculator] something I noticed a good amount on this board so it reminded me to say something with you mentioning speculator a few times.

I hadn't eaten lunch yet and Im a grumpy when Im hungry lol

  9. I find it funny that some people toss the word speculator around like its taboo, a bad thing, or an insult.

Speculators are just as good as they are bad and are a vital part of the comic industry. To say otherwise shows pure ignorance.

I am a speculator, a collector, and an avid reader. Yep, all 3. Get over it.

    Back on topic,

I want my damn NWM and I will pout, stomp my feet, and beatch until I get it. If you don't like it tough. That's what this thread is for ...NWM. The good, bad and the ugly.

  10. The fact is, although you're saying you'd like him to say _something_, the chances are whatever he could say wouldn't be good enough because the book would still be late and that's like the apocalypse for some speculators. He probably knows that no matter what he says, people will still complain, so why bother until he has something substantial to say?

How about he just says "Sorry about the delays folks". "We're doing whatever we can to minimize them". "Thanks to everyone for their continued support".

Is that too much to ask?

Would make me happy at least.

  11. E.S. left because that CBLDF deal (almost deal) ticked him off...at least that's what I believe...he probably just wanted to distance himself from the speculators.

That is asinine. Speculators help sell comics plain and simple. I cant believe someone running a comic book company [that offers tons of variants and extra printings] would be run off by speculators.

  12. An Image boycott? I thought this thread was insane before...

I think people are just pissed that their big pile of #1s aren't worth much anymore. For me, I'll be buying the next issue whether it's out next week or next year. A delay doesn't change how good a story is.

    Finally a sensible post.

It might be sensible but not true for everyone.

  13. I just looked at the original order I placed for NYCC, and we actually only had SIXTY (60) of the NYCC self-published version. So that's the official word on that--there are 60 of those out there.

Also, I will NEVER be printing the SDCC set again. Maybe we'll use the images again for prints, but never do the set again. The fun of doing these exclusives is to keep them exclusive! But we'll definitely have something fun and rare for NYCC--I'll let you guys know when we get to it.

.......and this is why you are CERTAIN to succeed. You rock Frank!

  14. Here's my conspiracy theory:

If this is like many other books, Nate is probably late. We've seen Eric go to bat for his co-creator and I sincerely doubt that he's going to throw Nate under the bus. If I'm Eric, I'm probably pissed that a project that I've worked on for years is not being published because the art isn't getting done. Some fan asks about it? I'm probably mad, but I can't throw the guy who probably co-owns the project to the wolves. I need him. Rather than make excuses, which even I don't buy, or say something I'll regret, I'm just going to pass on the question. It'll make fans mad, but it's better than lying or crushing my collaborator in public (you know that this thread would have blown up if Eric called out Nate. It would have been epic).

If anything, this should put the work of capullo, adlard, Dragotta, mahnke, guillory, etc in perspective. Deadlines are tough and you have to have discipline and a great work ethic to put out 9-12 issues per year. I don't know him, but Eric Stephenson strikes me as having a great work ethic. If I had to bet, I'd guess that Eric has 3-5 issues scripted and ready to go. I've seen the guy speak. He's nothing if not prepared. This is total speculation on my part. As someone who's sold all of my nowhere men floppies, I have no horse in the race. I just hope that the book gets back on track. If that requires getting a more consistent artist on the title, so be it. Just my 2 cents.

Very possible and likely theory. However just a simpl "we are behind and working on it" reply would calm a lot of customers down.

  15. I just wish NWM sucked so that I didnt care about all of this....but it doesnt and I do care. I think everyone in this thread still posting cares in some fashion and would continue to buy if it got back on track.

I do agree, I think as customers we should at least get a quick press release saying the book will or will not continue. That takes 30 seconds and would at least make some of us feel better.

  16. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I just cant take it anymore! Give me NWM Now!

Errr, sorry guys. Had a freak out moment. Seriously though I freaking love this book. Every time I pop into this thread I get a case of chapped arse from not getting my fix monthly

  17. Oh god, #8 was so awesome!

I love Fillmore and kinda hope he will change to a bad person again!

    I'm horrible :(

    BEDLAM!

x2! Issue #8 is simply bad arse!!! Loving the new artist, I was very worried to be honest.
