  1. I don't know if Killing Joke is a good example - you can pick up raw 1st prints on ebay for $20-25 pretty easily, and as current prints retail for $18, it's not much of a mark-up to get a 1st print. The Walking Dead Omnibus 1, however, retailed for $100 and now sells for $250-300. The Miracleman TPB's go for multiples of cover - even more so for book 3, "Olympus" (which reprints the popular issue #15). Miracleman HC's are ridiculous rare & expensive. In general, if you're "investing" in tpb's & hardcover's, the way to do it is to focus on limited editions, special editions & books with tiny print runs. Do you think that when the new Walking Dead book is out the price on the omnibus will go down? They are reprinting a mega book that is just over a 1,000 pages or does the omnibus have a limited print run?
  2. It's an interesting question, one that I wondered myself. I feel that the general attitude is that trades are disposal. But then there are some OOP batman or Nightwing trades that go for 2 or 3 x over cover price when the single issues can be had for next to nothing. So there is a market for trades but I guess the trick is they must be key story lines. Personally, I feel that Killing Joke falls under this category because it was original a prestige format comic and normal comic collectors purchase them for their collection. The same with Batman Man Who Laughs, which is reprinted in a hardcover but the original was a prestige format. I personally collect certain trades and am attempting to get everything with DC Bronze Age material. I just hunted down a sweet copy of Fireside’s DC romance comics collection from 1979.
  3. That has got to be the saddest sales thread or perhaps post, I have seen on these boards. His explaination on page 7 is just sad. So is his ebay name honestgradecomics or is that just another seller overgrading? Thanks for the original link but I after page 7 I just cannot read anymore.
  4. I know, isn't it awesome? I had been searching high and low and was convinced there was no such thing. Then I chanced upon this thing of beauty...at Circuit City's closeout sale. They were selling fixtures galore and it was actually my wife who spotted it. I bought it, brought it home, and it fit perfectally in the closet. Best part, I can put my raws on it as well. It has wheels and easily rolls out. I love it. I love your shrine to the turtles. That comic rack is incredible! Yes, CC was selling off fixtures in my area too. I wish I would have looked. Great room.
  5. Kudos to spiderman-on-tilt for some nice Tec and Swamp Thing books! Thank you.
  6. That and the Captain Nemo poster. I think those pjs are the feetie kind.
  7. Kudos to Joker-Fish for a VCC order of some more Bats and Tecs. Thanks for the sweet extras included!
  8. Kudos to Joker-Fish for the huge book of Bat goodness plus some nice freebies as well.
  9. Loothy! You got some 'splainin' to do! I am happy to report that Joker-Fish has mailed my books and provided a tracking number as well. So I am guessing that everyone else will get their info shortly.
  10. You can add me to that list of uncompleted transactions. Not a big book or a large amount, but he never paid for it. (thumbs u I sorry to miss your name in the list, FT. I went through the couple of pages again and found a few others. Buck Biggins buttock BrianR I don't want to throw the guy under the bus or anything. I had a couple of conversations with him and he seems like a great guy and all. I am hopeful that he will honor the transactions. I still don't understand why he was removed from the list though. I am not trying to make waves here but if this list is suppose to police the sales forum then all parties involved should have a say in whether or not someone is removed from the list. Secondly, I still believe that anyone with a strike against them should bear that cross for all to see. I just want to know what the board rules are on this.
  11. I wanted to keep this thread clean and posted a trail of what happened with Joker-Fish on the other thread. But I really would like an answer as to why only one person gave him the green light when there are 4 parties involved. Link to history on Joker Fish
  12. I am going to post some links as well to save sometime for everyone. These are all the sellers that complained about uncompleted transactions with Joker-Fish: ft88, skypinkblu, mikeyriffhard, Anfield Fox FT88 Initial Complaint skypinkblu Complaint Mike and AF complaint Officially added to list Removed from list by only one member, Anfield Fox Again, Anfield Fox was not even the first one to complain so why was he so quickly removed from the list? I think the list should be cumulative and once on you should be forever on with a notation about being removed.
  13. I have a question about this Probation list now. I too have purchased from Joker-Fish and I had watched a couple of his previous sales and there were no complaints so I figured it was all good. I am digging through the thread now and a handful of people nominated him to be put on the list yet only one person cleared him. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2542740&fpart=306 Shouldn't all the parties involved clear him as well? Why was he even removed? The other question, should there be a list of all troubled sellers/buyers with date added and date removed so that one can make a quick decision before putting up the sign. Had I seen his name at one point added to the list I would have not purchased as much. Right now a hit of 100.00 hurts.
  14. It would be nice to know which page the list is on so that it may be easily referenced.
  15. Kudos to cd4ever on another bunch of great looking comics. Thanks.
  16. Did I say permananently...? And I'm not even drunk More importantly, why aren't Hellblazer back issues more highly valued than Sandman? 1) Started years before Sandman 2) Still running today! 3) Most of the series remains un-reprinted 4) Has had a movie starring Keanu (much as we wish it hadn't) Also, why the 2nd Swamp Thing series isn't more highly valued / regarded? Of course we all know the Moore run is coveted but like Sandman it is very heavily reprinted - but no.20, which wasn't until recently, should be a Copper key. No.37 (and no.25), the 1st Constantine is also very cheaply available. I would recommend everyone also read the Rick Veitch run - it's as least as good as the later Moore issues - and no.84 see Matt Cable become Matthew The Raven (later in Sandman) - also the Grant Morisson then Mark Millar final run from no.140-171 is mostly fantastic. Actually, DC is reprinting the Swamp Thing series in hardcover and starting with issue 20. The hardcovers are priced nicely at 24.99 which is only 5 bucks more than the softcovers. I am hoping that they roll these out rather quickly. http://www.dccomics.com/vertigo/graphic_novels/?gn=10793 Also, Len Wein full run on the original series is getting reprinted in Hardcover as well. http://www.dccomics.com/dcu/graphic_novels/?gn=11320 DC is coming out with a lot of good and expensive collections this year.
  17. Kudos to Skinny White Boy for selling your junk. Now, if I would have know that you were moving up to Semi-Sweet Stuff... Seriously, love the Tecs and the others. Great purchase and I cannot wait to read this stack! Thank you so much.
  18. A very, very special thanks to agoodventure who answered my WTB and quickly shipped them. These put me very close to completing my Poison Ivy appearances. Thank you.
  19. Special thanks to Mattbird for selling a non-listed mini from his collection to me and for the other great miniseries bargins.
  20. A kudos to TheAvenger80 for my sweet Batman 181. It's beautiful Great packing, the foam wraparound was new to me and super fast ship. Thanks, it will be a great read on this snowy day.
  21. cd4ever runs the funnest sales threads, bar none. Whenever John starts one, I generally give up on any productive activities, pour a drink and settle in for a fun, laugh-filled night. I don't always buy much, but I always have a great time! I agree, John does run the best sales threads. A bit too late for me but I catch the rest of the show in the morning.
  22. A big thanks to cd4ever for being a kind and generous seller who by the way shipped the comics secured without damage. I read WF 253 today and I love Bruce Wayne stories. As I finished the comic, I closed the book to get treated to a wrap around cover by my fav Aparo! I forgot these dollar issue had wrap around covers. Thank you so much, now answer my PM
  23. Sorry I had to run out and wanted to extend my previous post. I am sorta new to this forum and was wondering what the proper etiquette was on unsold items on closed sales threads. Is it acceptable to just PM the seller or should I make the request on the closed sales thread? Should I just wait until the items are offered again? I am not sure how that is handled so I would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks
