Just for the record, I have experienced damage from poor installation of the inner well. I even experienced a situation where the cover was partially heat sealed to the inner well causing the cover to tear off. Stuff can happen, not often, but it's possible.

I don't think there is any such thing as a flawless design. Note the corners of the two lips have room to allow movement. Take away all movement and the books cannot handle a shipment, sometimes resulting in tears at the staple area. In my opinion, most damage occurs from shipping.

I would say yes, contact with the lips may result in bends to possible damage. Not sure what you can do about it preventing it but it's not a 'common' occurence either.

Straw, Jayhawk, I am overwhelmed by your display of great, high grade White Pagers. I can only add a few from my collection to this display.............

It's really not a question that can be answered directly. You really have to submit it to see what happens. I once had somethimng similar, called CGC to discuss but was told I would have to submit . I suspect the writing will 'slightly' lower the grade, half point type of range. There is always the situation where they are some other hidden problems that could lower the grade well below your expectations.

Not sure exactly what you are asking but unfortunately these books are very low grading. They are definitely not worth submitting to get graded. The #87 has the most value and will sell but not big bucks. Sorry.

Just picked this up.....

The big problem for this book is the bottom staple is detached. I'm thinking about a 3.5 to 4.0 range. While a press may make some improvement, especially on the Back cover, I think it may be a minimal improvement in the grade. Sorry. Still a cool book !

That looks like it was damaged during the encapsulation or during the shipping. That is damage, no way a 9.8. Assuming you submitted the book you should contact CGC. If you bought it, I think you should return it and get your money back.

I honestly don't know what the difference is between Flash Rebirth and Flash DC Rebirth, isn't it the same ? If you think CGC is inconsistent, that's fine, not worth my time to disagree with you.

This is a good suggestion, however, I'm just not sure a typical presser will take the time to dismantle the book. Otherwise, I like this idea.

Yes and I also looked at the CGC Census, not seeing one example of a Green Qualified Label for Flash Rebirth #2. This included second printings and Variants. I'm not sure how we can say CGC is inconsistent, or screwed up on the grading for this book when the OP did not show us anything.

It looks like this book has only one staple. I would be really careful about this book pressed trying to adjust the spine roll. If the spine gets detached, you your new and improved grade will be a 2.0 . Just recently someone was complaining that his GA book got detached at the staple, he was very upset. The recomendation is to be careful with GA books.

It's probably because the Flash Rebirth #2 was not recognized as an error. The Spawn 293 is a legitimate error, never saw or heard of a Flash Rebirth#2 error. You really didn't give us any information here. What is the situation with the Flash Rebirth #2 that you think it is a manufacturing error ?

Not knowing what the book is or how it is priced, I would not chase a book with moisture ripples unless it was very cheap. If the seller is trying to sell it based on the 'fact' that the moisture ripples can be removed is risky. There may very well be staining. The moisture may permeate the internal pages and the whole book. I would advise to take a pass on this book.

I think there is some confusion on your part, possibly I am the one that is confused but here is what I think is going on. According to Bradley, a very reliable CGC grader, the label text on the MMC #17 state that the cover is re-attached with tape. So, the cover *is* attached to the book, just not by the staples as it was when it was manufactured. The book came back to you, still attached, but attached by tape. CGC considers this situation to be a detached cover.

Acknowledging the reply from Bradley at CGC here, it appears the GA book was detached but held together by tape. In hindsight, I don't think a press would have improved the grade. I would like to repeat that I think it is better to submit a fragile GA book to CCS for a review and let them decide if the book can be improved with a press.
