  1. I don't have a Want List, just let the books come to me. That being said I like mostly Silver Age slabs. I have pretty much stopped collecting Moderns . I'll try to stop by.
  2. But you are the ONLY Sunday buyer ?!? I'm thinking of going but I'm afraid Hector may beat me up. Seriously though does anyone know if there will be a decent amount of comic dealers, will I see a slabbed comic book ? I always thought this location was a Toy show.
  3. Welcome to the Boards. You put your post in the wrong thread. There is a separate thread for asking for opinion on grade. That being said I am sorry to say, IMO, your comic is NOT worth submitting. CGC will hammer the grade with that much staining, not to mention numerous other problems.
  4. So, if it's missing the cover, no matter what, it gets a NG. I guess I can understand the CGC Point of View on this. After all, without the cover, what is left to grade ?
  5. Hey, that's pretty cool. I like it. I would think CGC could give you some advisement on this before you actually sent it in. You are not asking about the grade per se, just asking if it will be graded. Contact them.
  6. My point of showing this example was for the label. CGC noted PRINTING ERROR and still graded the book. The OP was suggesting another category besides NG for errors. Here it is.
  7. I think the chances are pretty good CGC would catch a fake second cover. Besides the difficulty with the staple area, the odds of getting another cover with the same level of aging and alignment would be tough.
  8. Brains, what happened in that thread ? I saw your post and a little while later everything was gone. Did I miss some more exchanges ?
  9. Okay, a bit tongue in cheek but, unless I misunderstood his question, seems like he deserved some teasing.
  10. Okay, with a world's record for fewest views and not even an inquiry, I'll put these books back into my collection. No threats of E-Bay ! Not sure how to formally close the thread but it is now closed.
  11. Do I understand this correctly, the OP doesn't want to pay for a membership but wants to use a dealer's account to get a discount while submitting on his own ? While he's at it, ask the dealer for his Fedex account number so he doesn't have to pay for shipping either. Maybe the dealer will also give him a CC number to pay CGC. What the heck, go for it all, submit completely for free !!!
  12. Yes, they did. However, as you have demonstrated, many Moderns have these waves off the shelf. Still, some like to blame CGC. Especially if they bought the book already slabbed. It all demonstrates that people like slabbed 9.8's to look perfect. So what is CGC to do ? If they don't give a book with waves a 9.8, the submitter gets mad. If they do, the eventual buyer gets mad. To avoid the hassles of being blamed and accepting reslabs, it's simply easier for CGC to not give a 9.8 with waves. Waves can also be caused by the after effects of a bad pressing. IMO, your book would not get 9.8 .
  13. Better yet, he should get it slabbed and then come on here blaming CGC for waves in his slab.
  14. It's been years since I had a selling thread. I usually only buy, selling occasionally to WTB threads. No Kudos thread but plenty of transactions here. No probation or other list people. I reserve the right to not sell to anyone I choose. Shipping: I will ship FedEX Ground with Signature, CONUS only. If there is no Ground shipment to your area I will ask for the difference in shipping Express. Note: I will pay for the shipping. Also note I will require an Adult Signature so you must make arrangements for someone to sign for the package. No PO Box. Fedex requires a phone number for shipments with signature so be prepared to give me your phone number. Payment is PayPal . Trumps PM negotiations. I will ship within 1 - 2 business days of payment. Books will be packed similar to the auction houses. Oversized box, in a bubble wrap mailer, with lots of peanuts/bubble wrap surrounding to prevent any movement. I like to communicate status and expect the same in return. No returns on slabs. Action 100 CGC 8.5 White pages. I did not submit this book so I have no idea about pressing, but it does not look pressed. I've owned it for about 5 years. It was graded in 2009 . No relevant sales in 8.5 but two sales in 2016 for 8.0 . 800 for an 8.0 OW/W and 1100 for an 8.0 in White. Only 60 graded copies in the census with 10 higher than this copy. I am offering this book for 1,000.00 even, shipped. http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=12775&GSub=3176 Superman 195 CGC 9.8 White Pages Mass Pedigree . Not pressed, graded early 2008 during a tough grading period. A natural beauty. Highest graded, one of 5. I am offering this book for 1,250.00, shipped. http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=11179&GSub=888
  15. One book, curious about the slabbing process, go ahead and submit it. Have some fun !
  16. First off, pull out all the keys and popular issues from your collection. You can use E-Bay sold listings to get an idea of valuation. Secondly, grade them or have someone you know help you grade them. Regarding the cost of CGC there are a lot variables. Shipping is on you both ways so it depends on where you live and how you ship. How quickly do you want your books back, what tier you put them in, what you value them at for insurance reasons while at CGC, what method you use for shipping. There's a whole lot of learning awaiting you. My advice, try a couple books and see how it goes.
  17. Leaving it alone for now does not preclude you from trying later if circumstances change. Also, you can always try to sell the 8.5 old label at a price reflective of a 9.0 and let someone else try for the upgrade.
  18. I think the OP already understands the math aspects. I believe his real intent here is to ascertain if the book has a good chance at 9.0 . That folded corner is troublesome to me. I am pretty sure if that fold is flattened out there will still be a crease. So no gain there. I also believe that the very small amount of 'dirt' on the BC is not what's holding it to 8.5 . The book looks very clean already. I think I see the referenced tear in the upper right corner of the FC. I think that will be the biggest challenge to attaining a 9.0 .
  19. I once had a 7.5 that I really wanted to be an 8.0 so it would fit into my collection. It also had a small tear. I submitted it to get cleaned and pressed. Unfortunately, the tear got bigger and it got a 6.5 . I made some calls and the presser said the cleaning probably did it. The rubbing of the cleaning 'uncovered' the hardly noticeable small tear. Trust me, it happens.
  20. The small tear may hold it at 8.5 no matter what. To be in the 9.0+ range a tear has to be very tiny. The problem with tears is they can get worse with handling. It can even get worse banging around inside the slab = shipping is not your friend. I know you said you can't see it. Sometimes you need to have the book in hand and open up the cover to see the tear. BTW, my post from last night was after a night of drinking. However, I still stand by the statement. I think it is much more desirable as an old label 8.5 .
  21. IMO, it is much more valuable in an 8.5 old label, unpressed state than in 9.0 pressed. But have at it, smoosh this nice comic book into a 9.0 so you can make a few dollars. That's what it's all about it anyway.
  22. I don't think your question can readily be answered by anyone here. Even if you put this question in the ASK CGC thread, I really doubt it would be answered because I don't think there is an answer. It simply depends on how many they see. My only suggestion would be to submit your book in a pre screen to protect yourself. Submitting multiple copies of the same book with the same flaw would help.
  23. You're right. The thief doesn't want to leave any money on the table. What a tool.
