  1. I really think you need to better assess when to spend the money on a press. In this case, I even question why you would submit the book ? It's a very low grade copy. Since there are no major pieces missing and assuming the staples are solidly attached, I think it is a 3.0 .
  2. First off, I would not have pressed this book. There are too many flaws that a pressing will not help. Also, you are risking more damage to that top staple area. There are numerous edge tears and slight foxing on the BC. There is a small impact ding on the top left of the FC, breaking a lot of color. The top right corner is very worn and that top staple area is scary. The book will basically look the same after a press. I agree with the 6.0 assessment.
  3. Disappointed you are only interested in making money. The cost of grading a comic is like the cost of a seat on an airplane. It depends on many factors. You should read the CGC website to obtain all the info you need on submitting a comic. Couple comments, because of shipping, it is usually not cost justified to submit only one book. The cost of shipping will probably exceed the cost of slabbing. You should also learn how to grade a comic before submitting. Do some homework, otherwise you will probably lose money as opposed to making money.
  4. Definitely, the mystery of the date does NOT detract from the awesomeness of the stamp.
  5. Regarding the history, the date stamp is a couple years after this book was on the stands. I wonder who stamped it ?
  6. I don't think they give a green label on a .5 . Instead it's factored into the grade.
  7. Journey Into Fear 6 CGC 6.0 OW-W $250 Pending Scan Saw scan. Firm !
  8. You can call it oxidation if you want but oxidized iron is rust. Those spots on the bottom staple is rust forming, not dirt. If you haven't already purchased the book, I would pass on it. Sorry.
  9. I am paranoid about rusty staples and try to avoid them. It's one of those flaws that can get worse over time, even in the slab. Make sure you keep this book in a humidity controlled environment. I wish CGC would list this flaw on the label.
  10. I'm pretty sure this is a tongue in cheek, prank post, making fun of a another recent post. The title alone says it all.
  11. I think the bottom staple is detached, that is a major downgrade. Also, what you called a Marvel chip on the top, is not a production issue(Marvel chip) but a real chip. Spine split is always a big downgrade, that tear in the upper right is quite long, sub crease is a huge downgrade, and the Tan Page reference is a killer. It all adds up to a very low grade book but I do think the detached staple pushed it into below 2 territory. As suggested, read the notes that should have come with it. I also think you need to educate yourself on grading, the CGC way. The good qualities about the book don't matter = they don't add points to the equation.
  12. You need to list your request in the WTB thread (Want to Buy).
  13. He did say the Marvel chipping was SEVERE. I agree that CGC does not hammer light chipping but they don't ignore them either. I think they would degrade according to the severity.
  14. A press will not help at all. In fact, there is so much dirt and scuffing in the Front cover that a press will make it look worse. Applying heat to the dirt on the cover colors will look terrible. Sorry but I can't call this a fine. I think CGC will consider the scuff marks a loss of color and hammer it. 5.5 at best .
  15. I think the tear with crease alone will hold it down to 7.5 territory. Also, the small multiple indent is problematic because they will probably break color. Bottom line I don't think a press will help much, only with the bends on the back. 'Maybe' you can squeeze out an 8.0 . Again, the tear will hold it back. Pressing isn't magic.
  16. Wow. Both Amazing and Fantastic(pun intended) !
  17. IMO, if it's a key, buy the highest grade you can afford. It will appreciate more than a lower grade.
  18. Also, if by the term 'fine' you mean the comic grading term Fine, this is not a Fine, more like VG 4.0 at best. Sorry. You should get your money back. The owner of this book was pulling a fast on on you in both grade and the unrestored claim.
  19. It is considered restored which cuts the value considerably. I would try and get my money back. Good luck.
  20. Sorry but with that large corner crease, there is no way it should be an 8.0 . So much for CGC grading tight.
