  1. The comment about 'they get them when they get them' doesn't make sense. It doesn't take this long for CGC to turn over the books so either they did not submit them or they can't pay their CGC fees. Also, what is the 'system' she is referring to with the 'system is disorganized' ? You should have jumped into the conversation when she was talking to that other person. I really think you should demand your money back. This is beyond getting frustrated and being patient. This is about being taking advantage of.
  2. I can understand submitting a book like Hulk #1 for a potential 1.5 but not this book. It wouldn't even be worth a hundred bucks.
  3. I'm sorry, I really feel for the victims here, but I don't understand why they are so passive about the situation. We are talking about a brick and mortar store, where they can walk in and talk to employees face to face. E-Mails getting ignored, phone calls never returned, enough is enough. Go into the store and find out what is going on. Don't leave until you get an answer. Demand your money back. Get a lawyer. Call the police. This is not a normal way of conducting business.
  4. Be careful, from an emotional POV, you may regret selling your books later on. Suggestion: sell half. When you are done with that, if you still feel the same, then sell some more. Seller's remorse is a very common thing.
  5. I'm not suggesting shill bidding here. Actually, I think the bidding so far is real. However, getting excited about the number of bids on this book is not relative. You have a couple of bidders inching up the ladder, min bids one at a time, trying to find the specific high without going over too much. Not a lot of real action, just a lot of single bids.
  6. Dude, you can't try and sell books like this here. The book must be listed in the sales threads and taking offers without a BIN price is against the rules.
  7. The one high bidder alone shows these stats... 30-Day Summary Total bids:32 Items bid on:1 Bid activity (%) with this seller:100%
  8. Even if it's in a Blue label, it will still have the notation on the label, lowering the desirability for many collectors. If it's 4.0, I don't think I would submit it. It would only be a 200.00 book and a tough sell with the defect. Is it really worth the slabbing expenses ? Also, realize that when it is in a blue label, the defect will be counted against the grade. That is a big chunk missing.
  9. Regarding the bidding, it looks like nearly all the bids are from two distinct bidders.
  10. I thought the slab pro product was useful. I own about a dozen, They don't fit the new slabs though.
  11. It would probably come back in a Green (Qualified) Label. If the rest of the book is low to mid grade, it may come back as blue but with a very low grade.
  12. I think I'm in the same boat as you, historically CGC never responds to me either. I once tried a serious campaign to get them to note rusty staples on the label. Not one acknowledgement from them at all. Whenever I post something in ASK CGC, same thing, no response. I don't think they single us out. You have to be a big name to get their attention.
  13. Just recently, I started storing some of my slabs this way. Horizontal, on their side, spine down as recommended by many here, in a short box. It seems to work great !
  14. I think a good cleaning and press will help this book to an 8.0 !
  15. I 100% agree with you. Your analogy should point out how silly CGC's stance really is. BTW, I really like the cracked windshield analogy. Serious question, how do we go about presenting our argument to CGC ? I was impressed, a few years back, when CGC listened to the Boards and changed their stance on tape. I think it took some influence from big customers on tape to get the attention of Paul Litch but it did get done. I can't believe the hobby, in general, wants to see bindery flaws ignored. Of course the submitter likes it but once it gets into the marketplace it's a turd.
  16. I like this list but I am still in search of #4. I also think that #52 would be included in a top 6 list !
  17. I agree. A couple years ago I saw a raw copy at a convention and bought it. Never saw it before that. I don't know why it flies under the radar, it should be a classic cover.
  18. I believe your LCS would have access to the notes, for free. Only the submitter gets free notes. Since you are not the submitter, you would have to pay. Contact your LCS and ask them for the notes.
  19. Assuming CGC is going to continue to ignore bindery defaults.... let's say you have two books, both graded 9,8, one with the bindery flaw and one without the flaw. I am saying put the checkmark on the 9.8 without the bindery flaw. At least you are acknowledging the book without the flaw. Over time, buyers of Moderns, will look for that checkmark and the marketplace will reward them. 9.8's with checkmarks will be the new collecting goal !
  20. Tactics like this, high pricing by seller, is effectively using your site as a free method of advertising. Sure the seller would like to sell it at the high price but what he really expects to happen is somebody contacts him for an offline transaction. Trust me, seeing this kind of pricing, discourages browsers to your website.
  21. What did the notes say ? If you submitted the books, you should get the notes for free.
  22. Smoke attaches itself to anything in it's proximity. Go to a party where there are smokers and the stink will follow you home and engulf everything you touch. All the traditional ways of getting rid of smoke smell like baking soda and vinegar can't be used with a comic book. Unless this is an AF15, I wouldn't bother with it.
  23. Agreed, but I think most collectors want their 9.8's to look 'perfect'. A single, prominent cb spine-tick on a 9.8 would annoy many, including myself.
  24. To my knowledge, unless you are talking 9.9/10.0, CGC never gives a bump for any outstanding characteristics, including eye appeal, quality of production, etc. I don't think a book without gripper holes would get any kind of nod.
  25. Not only are you breaking the rules here, you are also pimping these books over in Gold, in very poor taste.
